oh don't make me laugh, it'll be more than ten years for the last book to come out. Not even the sixth one's come out yet.
Whether he finishes or not, he’ll go down in legend. And as bad as it is to say, if any renowned artist does die before their work is finished, it only makes them seem more mythical. I hope that doesn’t happen though.
Regardless, his heirs will launch his unfinished works. Eeeeeasy money, just like the useless Tolkien's offspring did in the past, you can't never underestimate the parasites. If it will be just as bad as Silmarilion and others, idk, maybe not. Winds of Winter is pretty much finished, I assume, so this book is a sure thing. Now the last book.. idk, maybe Martin don't even have a draft. And from my perspective, if the winds of winter starts with jon snow ressurecting, that will be a huge letdown for me. Because this is the sign that Martin indeed revealed some key plot developments for the show runners, so there's no reason to waste thousands of pages reading things we already know. And before someone talks about the counter-example, how people can enjoy the live action adaptation even after reading the books.. Yes, fair. But for me in particular, that will be disappointing because I expect more for Martin, I expect more than a dumb bastard resurrecting and becoming the hero of prophesy and etc. This is such a old trope, a goddamn fantasy cliche. ASOIF is a cool series because there's no easy tropes and cliches, at least for me.
R Silmarillion is a fantastic piece of literature and ASOIAF is littered with classic fantasy tropes. Were talking about dragons, magic and prophesized monarchs... There a couple stories I can think of that have used those motifs before.
My favorite scene definitely has to be the introduction of Tywin Lannister, symbolically skinning a stag like his house has defiled the name of Baratheon. Also the conversation that follows with Jaime about the importance of the family name gives me chills.
Tywin and Arya’s banter back and forth scene was one of my highlights.
Arya’s subtle barbs, which weren’t lost on Tywin.
It’s great to watch two quick wits go back and forth under any circumstances and that scene was very well written as it was also very believable.

George really likes the character Euron from the books so when HBO made their own version of Euron this must have pissed off George because I remember him literally posting scenes and quotes from book Euron online as if telling HBO "this is Euron you idiots" . After that he then said later on that he doesnt watch the show anymore.

My favorite scene is from the first season. Ned walks into The Great Hall and see Jaime standing there in full armor, where they have that very short conversation. There is SO much going on there, even though very little is said. You can feel the tension right away and even though we, as an audience, knew nothing at that point, you could fell how much was unsaid between them. There was so much mystique surrounding the their history. Jaime especially, and you could tell that there was more to him, and that his side of things would be known soon enough. Furthermore, that scene holds two of the best actors on the show: Sean Bean & Nikolaj Coster-Waldau 🙏
Was sad to not read the that scene in the books, it was great! As was their duel later in the season. Show Jamie is cooler, as much as I love the books.

My favorite scene is the Red Wedding. It was so shocking and emotionally powerful. The Rains Of Castamere song being played is so epic.
It's interesting to hear him talk about this now, because they made the King's hunting scene in HOTD far more elaborate and similar to what George described here.

To be fair, even season eight had some great scenes. The problem was never individual scenes, in my opinion (though some still stick out very badly), but the inconsistency of character arcs. I have the feeling the show either had different characterisations than the books and forced the character into the book ending, or could not go for the book ending and had to improvise an ending to the arc. Either way ruins a characters arc. Cleganebowl for example was a great scene, but it threw away all of Sandor's redemption and was in blatant conflict to what he preached to Arya.
My actual least favourite scene would probably be the drinking game from season eight. But overall most scenes were solid by themselves.

I'd say the second is definitely the more personal and emotional of the show, but the second is one of the most powerful stance of any character at any point.
That said, Ned's execution is still the most impactful and heavy overall.
I'd also point a small moment rather than a scene, the one at the end of Tyrion's wedding when he threatens Joffrey. It competes even with his confession .

I find George’s way of speaking and voice very relaxing. Like an ASMR trigger almost
Lord, the dragons in season 5 on up look fucking perfect. As a person who was involved in the world of CG graphics and animation, they looked better and better with each season. Entirely photoreal, perfectly lit, and BEAUTIFULLY animated, which is usually the weakest part, but not in GoT. Kudos and THANKS to anyone who worked on those dragons.
I always amazed by how good the dragons looked. I was already impressed by everything on the show, the writing, acting and so forth I was like wait a minute they are great at CGI too? This was the best looking dragons in history of either TV or movies. Really almost no flaws. My favorite part was when Drogon showed up in Season 6 and started torching the boats with the other dragons. I was speechless.

Yeah that's where all the money and effort went it seems... they really were spectacular. And they're extremely important, like it only stands to reason they'd have to do that but ... less so for the goddamn zombie polar bear. That was something they demanded like children until they got... culminating in one of the weakest parts of an already weak season. I really hope the books don't involve a mission where it entails actually kidnapping a zombie with the express purpose of trying to reason Cersei into helping them as if that's something Tyrion knows Cersei characteristically has a history of doing (it also being his idea, completely out of character for him). My biggest fear of all besides that George will die before finishing the books is that George doesn't actually know how to finish them, and I guarantee like 70% of fans who have spent all this time forging their own theories -- some more bizarre than others -- are going to be disappointed when the majority end up getting proven wrong one way or another. Such as the people who think Jon Snow will hook up with Sansa by the end. SMH
I'm not an expert at all, but the always looked great to me.
Wouldn't say the lighting was good, the models, textures and animations are fantastic. The use of shaders seems off to me.
My favourite is Margaery manipulating Joffrey. It is crafted so amazingly. She is in front of him when he is confronting her but slowly and without you noticing she comes by his side act as his lover. She uses his sexism as a way of him underestimating her rather than being used as a disavantage. Natalie and Jack are amazingg in the scene. A masterpiece.

It's so sad seeing him talk about GoT when it's just after S1. It's his beloved life's work, his precious child, and he's so genuinely excited about how good it was. It is an utter disgrace what D&D did to it.
Seriously the CGI of GoT is on a cinematic level, the dragons looks TOO real, even better than Smaug and other dragons in movies.
Well, Smaug looked like a fucking parody of a fantasy movie, thats how bad he was... and the whole Hobbit, for that matter.

Although GOTs dragons were very good considering budget restraints.
But there’s something about CGI that feels weightless to me if it’s not done right.
Which is most CGI.
And Smaug appeared to have real mass.
It has a lot to do with how they interact with their environment. Does the earth depress when they walk, how or do they impact their surroundings and so on.
And there are times when GOT’s dragons had that weightless quality that removes them from reality.
But I understand it’s not a fair comparison given the budget.
Jackson is very particular about attention to detail.
So I just don’t understand how anyone could pick GOTs over Smaug.
The latter was rendered better, voiced magnificently, and interacted with the real world such that it was believable.
Those are objectively measurable things.
One may prefer the look of the dragons on GOT, but they’re in no way superior CGI to Smaug.
Favorite scene is when Jon Snow sees the Night King & his horse guard for the first time at Hardhome. The goosebumps were beyond chilling. You could feel the scale of the dread, when Jon realises the White Walkers are not just a horde of zombies but are actually being led and controlled. It should have been the beginning of the most epic enemity in TV history...
...Don't even get me started on Season 8.

When I read the execution of Ned, I imagined the scene would could have been from Arya's point of view--with her jumping into the crowd to run to the platform, but the mass of people in front of her is too tall for her to see past them and too big for her to push through. That's the kind of tension that makes for a terrific climax, not that the HBO version didn't work well itself.

Just imagine how hard it is to write his last few books considering how much passion he has for his work. Im sure he wants to do more than the show, fix where they went wrong and leave the fans on a high note. People are expecting so much of him and the final books i cant even imagine the pressure

My favourite part of the book is when he describes all of the food and feasts that will inevitably kill him meaning we will never see an ending to the nooks.

My favorite scene is when Robert Baratheon talks with Selmy about the Battle of the Trident, then taunts Jaime Lannister about him killing the mad king. Mark Addy doesn't get enough credit for how great his performance was, getting killed off even before Sean Bean and all.
I get martin's point about robert's hunting party but the boar hunting scene is amazing. He's trying his hardest to escape being King to the point he's out there with just his brother and single most trustworthy bodyguard. He's trying to get back to that feeling of a simple time hunting out in the vale of arryn or around storms end. It fits the mood so well.

I'm convinced that animation is the only way to have the perfect adaptation, especially video games.
I couldn't honestly pick a favorite scene if you held a gun to my head, there were so many. Dany frees the Unsullied, the Hound eating every chicken in the room, Tyrion slapping Joffrey, Drogo "crowning" Viserys, the knighting of Brienne, Bronn standing in as champion for Tyrion, Bronn refusing to champion him again against the Mountain, Cersi blowing up the Sept, and many, many more.
My favourite scene is when snow starts falling down on the streets of kings's landing ( they say winter came at the end of season 6 but its effects are realy showed in this scene)

I know I'm responsing to an old comment, I must say this. Even tho the last two seasons were a steep downhill, they still managed to include some precious scenes. For me the night before "long night" was one of them. Jaime knighting Ser Brienne, Tyrion being Tyrion and Pod singing Jenny of the Oldstones. That was season seven finale, if I recall correctly. For me it wasn't quite enough for a season finale scene, but a very powerful moment nonetheless.

my favorite scene was 6x10 when the great sept blew up from the wildfire. The music really brought it all together and made it chilling for me. And then ending off with Tommen jumping out his window, just wow.

Season eight had many great scenes. It is mainly the character arcs they fucked up. Brienne's knighting, Theon's funeral, Melisandre's magic and death, Brienne writing Jaime's legacy, Sandor and Sansa talking at the party, just to name some of my favourites.
Season 8 is the best one.

The thing that got me was that the Hound's backstory in the show felt so forced that the first time I watched it I thought that it must have been a joke, just making fun of the Hound for his appearance.
I later read the book and it became almost instantly my favourite scene as it happens so naturally and kicks off a relationship that says, "I'd rather rape you than to care for you." It is present in almost every scene featuring Sansa and the Hound that I feel would have greatly added to how tender the Hound can be

Richard Santanna In the books the Hound tells Sansa the story of his scars himself, not Littlefinger. It's a pretty iconic scene for both characters and, apparently, GRRM loved Rorys take on it so much he personally sent his audition to the producers. Its online, you can google it. It's pretty impressive.

Sansa was taken aback by the amount of carnage there was and the lack of fairytale chivalry. Nauseous by the events, Sansa wanted to be escorted to Maegor's Keep. A very drunk Sandor Clegane was the one chosen to carry out this task.
The Hound, realizing how dim and unrealistic Sansa's worldview was, decided to aggressively demolish her perception of the world by showcasing his scars as what Knights do.
GRRM also firmly establishes the Hound as a character that can cause great harm to Sansa and one very willing to rape her given the chance, so his later tenderness and care with Arya, to me, says that Sandor could have become one of those fairytale knights, much like Garlan Tyrell, had it not been for Gregor

My favorite is the entire attempted siege at King’s Landing. It manages to be epic and grounded at the same time, and a ton of it is based on real events.

I hope GRRM is proud of himself and anyone and everyone else who worked on this show in ANY capacity. His books are excellent, and adapting it to television was a seemingly impossible task. Yet it was done in the most amazing way and became, in my opinion, the greatest TV show of all time. Sure, seasons 7 & 8 weren’t what Most of us hoped they would be. But part of that is that our expectations were so ridiculously high that living up to them would have been damn near impossible. For instance, if you take season 7 & 8 and compare them to just about any OTHER TV show, you’re still looking at seasons that stand among the best ever. It’s comparing them to seasons 1-4 (& 5 and even 6 in some places) that makes them look bad. And seasons 1-4 were about as perfect as a show could possibly be. So even though we didn’t get the ending most of us wanted, I will always remember GoT as the show that swept me up more than anything else was ever remotely able to do. Thanks Mr. Martin, HBO, and anyone else who got this show going.
