I don't think Brandon would accept any request to finish ASOIAF because 1) he already has too much on his plate to work on others stories, and 2) Brandon cannot mimic GRRM's style because he just doesn't do Grimdark genre well. If they have to get someone to finish it, perhaps Joe Abercrombie or someone else might be able to do it.
I feel like his writing the two back to back because GRRM his like a gardener in his style of writing so I think his not just writing the WOW but his on the DOS too and maybe of they got to be published one day he'll publish them back to back a year between the two And since winds is so big he'll have to publish two parts of the same book so I think he'll release winds two parts separately
@@PsychSoldier756 Exactly, people seem to fail to realise that dan and dave just executed georges outline extremely poorly, they didnt just go of piste. They knew the summary. I think thats why george now just doesnt write, they took his ending, did it poorly, people hated it, and now he is scared of people hating it and being disapointed with his lifes work.
@@MrBoboiscool Good point never thought of that last part. I'm tired of people complaining about season 8 so much. I understand the visual stuff and dialogue. When people complain about the storyline it's pissed me off though. Like people expected a fairytale ending when the story was never a fairy tale. That honestly the kind of ending you should expect watching the show. Definitely a little more thought out because he rewrites so much. The storyline wasn't that bad though just executed poorly. He probably would or rewrote a few things too
@@Dustin_Different if anybody was expecting a fairly tale ending, they weren’t paying attention. I had two glaring issues with season 8: the white walker plot was ended very anticlimactically, after seven seasons of buildup to the greatest threat to Westeros, having the night king defeated at winterfell in one episode was a joke (as was Arya being the one to kill him, should’ve been Jon snow, end of). Daenerys snapping and laying waste to kings landing was a good idea (probably where George is going in the books) but in the show it was horribly written. Season 8 had good moments here and there, but it was rushed horribly, and the white walker plot was done dirty
He was talking about finishing WoW in 2015 with a hard deadline. The fact that almost 10 years later he is nowhere near completion of that same book should tell everyone he is never going to finish ADOS.
I wish he would just be honest about why it never came out back then. Like if he geniuses believed it would be out in 2015. And then later said it would for sure be done for that convention in 2020. That was 4 years ago now, clearly something is going on and I wish he was just honest about what the issue is instead of always just vaguely mentioning “I’m working on it”
I wish all that to but i come to the realization that he probably has a contractual obligation to not say anything besides 'I'm working on it', as it would affect sales of everything else going on for the billion of items being sold around the book series
The Sanderson joke is funny because Sanderson is the polar opposite of GRRM in his ability to meet deadlines, and because despite Sanderson's skill, he is not a good fit for the world or tone of ASOIAF.
@@zyo00wv Steven Erikson, Tad Williams, Robin Hobb, Jay Kristoff and Joe Abercrombie all collaborating together could write a phenomenal Winds of Winter
I think a story left unfinished is a tragic thing. Were I in his sotuation, I'd not only feel as though I owe the audience, but my legacy and the characters themselves. If there is a person he trusts to execute the rest of the story with all of what he has written and outlined, then I hope somebody does finish it if he doesn't.
When I got to Feast and realized that he started 1000 new storylines in the 4th book, I realized we will never have a Dream of Spring and will be very lucky to ever get Winds.
He’s fat, lazy and old now. And rich. He should just admit he doesn’t have the drive or need to write anymore. Also like the other guy said, he’s a victim of his own complexity in his stories. There’s so much going on, that he has infact written himself into a corner he doesn’t know how to get out of, and doesn’t have the drive to get out of it.
An entire story line can be ended with a few deaths, sometimes as little as one, so that doesn't worry me as much as his progressively longer and longer release times got in general.
I feel like the shitshow that was the last few seasons of GoT affected him more than he lets on. D&D really mucked his story up. Honestly I feel bad for the bloke.
It deeply affected me as a fan, let alone the father of the story… It has taken me a few years since the show ended to even be able to reread the books. I am in the middle of A Clash of Kings now, and I’m incredibly proud to have been able to pick the books back up after the trauma I felt because of the show. I’ve been able to work on slowly forgetting it was a part of the story at all, because I only want to remember the books as canon. Anyway so, yes, if this was my life’s work and someone assaulted it like D&D, I’d need a lot more time to recover than I needed now (just as a fan).
@@mint.tea.biscuits I'm actually half way through that one too. Nice to re-read. I think the first 4 seasons hold up, after that it's like a different story.

@@knowur10sand18s he’s always been a slow writer, with the exception of a storm of swords, so I’d say there’s no real reason to believe he’s finished winds.
@danielallen4450 he's literally made 10 more books since Dance With a Dragons and co wrote Elden Ring. That's not slow writing That's being done with ASOIAF.
9:11 Brandan Sanderson has already said a couple different times that even if offered he wouldn't do it since Asoif is so different from what he normally writes
I foolishly began reading these books back in 1998 never imagining that I’d still be waiting on the author to complete the series 26 years later. I’ve been to war in two countries, recovered from wounds, completed my masters degree, gotten married, fathered four children and progressed in my career in those years whilst this man just stopped caring about the thing which propelled him to fame.
At this point, George is being a massive dick for not having the discipline to finish the books for the fans who made him famous. At some point, you have to ditch the old mindset of ''Oh, I started it as a hobby, but now there's pressure on me, and I'm sad'' and actually do the work. This man has been to war; he deserves to read the damn books, lmao.
@@milkyway208Ohonestly he can just not finish the books, he has that right, but the way he’s dragged his fans along for YEARS knowing he’s lying about these deadlines is disgusting, all to keep lining his pockets with book sales, there’s no way he can set himself a deadline in like 2015 and not be finished by 2024, it’s pure greed and selfishness
i think he's writing winds of winter at the same time as dream of spring, or at least making sure that everything in winds will properly transition into dream. i know he's a "gardener" writer but he definitely knows how he wants it to end and is just trying to make sure all the plants and vines are all properly trellised and pruned in just the right way. i'im sure he's also come across some complexities he is working around which is slowing him down, like the "merenese knot" in essos
I dont think you understood the analogy lmao. Its not about readers or fans. Its the way he makes plots weave and tie into eachother. I dunno, I want WoW as much as anybody, but leave the dude aloje and let him do his thing lmao@Orion33759
Brandon Sanderson most definitely should not be the one to finish the story. He's a great writer, but his style of writing is not complementary to GRRMs style at all. Robin Hobb would be a better choice in my opinion, she is friends with George and was involved in teasing out all of his earliest ideas for the series.
The key to world and all ownership of the brand lies in Sothoryos, u need at least a level 99 dragon, all items full Valyrian steel and a minimum of 7 points - magic stats
Watch the movie, it's about a game in the future called the oasis, and it's like VR Facebook fortnite WOW all combined so people spend their lives there as avatars and it has a massive sway on the world economy so when the creator dies he leaves a treasure hunt for the players to race to the key to own the game, It ends up being a kid from a slum against the US military as it's deemed the most valuable resource on earth
Brandon Sanderson already said he won't do Game of Thrones, and his style doesn't really match GRRM's gritty realism - I'd suggest Andrej Sapkowski if he'd be willing, his style matches GRRM's the closest of anyone I've read the last 20 years or so...and he's got the street cred, having written the Witcher.
Most respectful way to go about it would be to have someone like Sanderson come in to finish it and publish it along with his own outline in a companion book for people who don't want to recognize Sandersons writing as canon because those people will exist
Obviously those people will exist because we wouldn’t truly be getting the proper stories. GRRM is a gardener, his stories evolve as he writes so he doesn’t have an outline he can give to someone to publish. He’s not that kind of writer, and if he was then the books would have been finished long ago
Sanderson will be too busy finishing the Cosmere to give ASOIAF the time it needs - untying all of Martin’s knots and plot points will take a ridiculous amount of care and attention. They’ll have to find a strong up and comer looking to break in, like Harriet Jordan did when she picked Sanderson to finish The Wheel of Time.
Maybe he's been secretly writing the last two books the last 13 years and is planning some crazy dual release maybe he holding them till he dies as the ultimate troll exercise?
"Thus sayeth the Lord of Light. The Great Scribe will deceive many and bring them false reports of unfinished works, but I say he has finished, the wonderous tale of The Song of Ice and Fire. Harken unto my words. The Great Scribe will pass on, and give up the ghost and only then will he release these unfinished works. Yay, he will release them all after his passing as to not be witness to the reactions of the people."
Mannnn I have had this thought for quite some time. I've thought about this longer and harder than I should have and for some reason, I have a feeling he's done with TWOW and is powering through (or trying to) ADOS. I've also wondered if he has a strong outline for F&B pt. 2, which he'd want to release prior to ADOS at the very least, as it may have clues/suggestions to the conclusion of the main novels.
I don’t think we will see anything in 5 years or 10 years or ever. I used to sit in pin and needles waiting but I don’t anymore. GOTs isn’t our only ending, I must say you did a great job with your story. Thank you for all your work, and for keeping the excitement alive
I'm with you! I'm really glad I didn't know nor read the books before watching GOT. Waiting for two books that will never arrive sounds unbearable for true book readers who admire, love, and have faith in George R.R. Martin to finish the books. 😓
His notablog post really had me thinking he finished the manuscript for WoW. If I'm right, he'll spend most of this year editing. If the book ends up being split into two, we might get a Dunk & Egg novella in between releases. Winds is definitely the hardest book to write because you have to take all those loose threads and bring them together. The final book will be much, much easier to write. We might only have to wait five years!
He should hand pick like 3 mega fans with writing talent and have them collab to finish the series. You need a few of them to keep the ideas in balance and make sure the story doesn't go too astray
There are a handful of long-term TH-cam creators whose grasp of ASOIAF I deeply respect. I'd certainly read any sequels they put out if it came to that.
IIRC from a previous video, George has two mega fans that he actually consults on his GOT lore because they are so well versed and know just as much if not more than he knows about the series. Those people are the ones I would definitely trust to finish out the series.
Hand pick like 3 super fans and have them collab to finish the series. You need a few of them to keep the ideas in balance and make sure the story doesn't go too astray
I don't know if any of them are actually good writers. The George IS a good author, and I don't want to read a sequel written by a less talented writer. Being a big fan is simply not enough.
I’m starting to believe that I will NEVER read The Winds of Winter neither A Dream of Spring….I’ve lost hope 😔😔😔George R.R. Martin is old and he will probably die before finishing any of the books he wants to write ✍️ about the World of Ice and Fire…So yeah, it’s just my opinion, I can be wrong 😑…..Thanks for sharing this video, I appreciate all the updates that you post here on TH-cam!👍👍🙏🏻♥️🙋🏼♀️🇨🇦
His last book will be winds of winter. Unless he’s written more than he’s letting on. Who knows. But Dreams of spring will never ever happen. it will make for lots of youtube channels with “what if” vids.
At this point, I don't really think GRRM has written much more than a brief outline for Winds of Winter, much less Spring. He just gives off the vibe of being done with it all, and is just running on fumes. My favourites for finishing this series (and I do want it to be finished, eventually) are authors Dan Simmons (Hyperion Cantos, Illium, Olympos, etc.) and R. Scott Bakker (The Second Apocalypse series). Both are fantastic writers, with no lack in imagination, and who have put out work comparible to Martin's own works. I am 100% confident that with either one taking on the task of bringing ASOIAF to a conclusion, they will do so honouring this world, and we will see these books within about three years of their writing of it. As to whether either is altogether jazzed about doing it, who can say. But I'd rather Simmons or Bakker have a crack at it, than the default fall-to, Brandon Sanderson. Nothing against him, I just don't think he's the best choice for fitting himself tonally into the Song. Anyway, that's my two cents.
I agree with you. When season 8 was released, he was interviewed about the failed plot lines but he gave to me a vibe that he had not considered a lot ot the angles about the book. Either that or he really didn't want to let out his secrets.
Man... I just hope and pray that everything that George is going through is all doing good somehow. Admittedly he really IS getting old, and nowhere any younger by that obviously. As years go by he will indeed get weaker. Although I still believe that he will someday finish the last two books, I hope it will be really good, fitting, and will be written without regrets. Never mind the haters; much love George!
GRRM just needs to workout, which will increase his overall mood, motivation, and health. Somebody train this man and chef him up some good food so we won’t worry about him lasting long enough to finish it
100% correct answer. Daily walks, basic weight lifts for old men, regular sunlight exposure and a balanced diet with no junk food will stimulate neurogenesis, creating new brain cells, increasing creativity, interest, mood, inspiration, and his love for life again.

I do believe he has tons of notes and also some third party lore keepers like Elio and Linda. If tragedy occurs, I think I would want someone like Patrick Rothfuss to use his notes and work together with people like Elio and Linda, who know the directions he intended to go with his story, in order to bestow the series with a worthy ending. Won't feel the same as getting it by Martin himself but it would be some consolation ...
Kkkkkkkkkk I thought of this while writing this coment but well .... 🤷♂️ He's younger than Martin and I think their writing styles are similar, so he was my firt thought.
@@marcospaulotome506 Rothfuss is the last person on the planet to entrust with finishing a book. The second book of his "planned trilogy" was published in Mar 2011. So that's 13 years and counting on the final book. His own editor let out her frustrations in a public forum by admitting that (as of mid 2020) she had not seen a single word of the book.
No...please...Patrick Rothfuss would be a great choice but he takes wayyyy too long to finish his own books. He wouldnt have Wow finished by the time hes dead and would have to pass it on to someone else as well. Is that too harsh?
People keep wondering what he intends to happen for his ending. I think his problem with writing it is because he hasn't any idea himself. I'm just reading the entire book series at the moment, and am struck already by how different the books are from the filmed version. The further along the books go, the more convoluted and unfocused the books' plot seems to be. A shame, as it started so well. But now, in Book 5, I'm really starting to skim. So much in there that doesn't involve our main characters and seems to lead the plot all over the place. I think he really needs (needed?) a good editor to keep him on track. I'm minded of Joe Abercrombie's two series ...6 books ...that are connected by characters and plot. The First Law trilogy and The Age of Madness trilogy. These are every bit as complex and wide-ranging as Song of Ice and Fire ...but Abercrombie KNOWS what he's doing and where he's going. The books were finished smartly, and, to my mind, impeccably. Everything ties together, there are some real, fully-earned surprises, and the endings are SO satisfying. I'm not saying George RR Martin should write like Joe Abercrombie. Every writer is different and certainly every writer has his or her own working methods. But I think Abercrombie started his series with a clear idea of where he was going with it, and he stuck to the plan. I believe Martin just started ...and kept going ...piling characters and plot lines ...but didn't actually have a clear idea of where he was headed. Every new idea seemed to set him off in yet another direction. The writing really becomes tangent-ridden as the series progresses. I feel quite sorry for him, actually. This lack of focus must bother him a lot. But I think he's run out of steam, and us waiting for the next pearl to drop is probably only increasing the pressure on him and making it even more difficult for him to engage. I also wonder if perhaps the filmed series affected the way he saw his own story? Dunno.
yeah that's what I was saying the whole time. The fact that the show writers made such a good series in the first place was feat in its own right. at least we got an ending albeit a cobbled together rush one. they recognizeD that the plot lines were going all over the place and wanted out. But many readers of the book series are in love with his writings so they don't come to the reality of how unfocused the series start to portray. Hundreds of characters and story arcs that cannot be wrapped up very easily.
I have full confidence that when Winds of Winter releases a Dream of Spring won't be far away. What I understand about the delay is that he had a hard time structuring the 5 year time skip that he had in mind. He got stuck on making either flashbacks or dreams, so my guess is that once he figure that puzzle out, the puzzle for a Dream of Spring might fall in place just from solving of that 5 year timeskip.
The Winds of Winter could make writing the Dream of Spring easier. He can resolve many plot lines in the WoW. In the DoS, the ending would be relatively straight forward -- unless his gardening impulse gets in the way!
I hope he does have a chance to finish: I always think about the death of Robert Jordan, and the fact that he did not finish the final book in the Wheel of Time series and, while there were notes and a skeleton draft that were used to finish the series, I’ve always wondered if Jordan would think the story ended as he wished. I hope GRRM can do it, but it doesn’t look good 😢
They're not really writers. However, they should absolutely guide whichever writer(s) would finish the story, because no one (not even George) can keep up with everything he has written whitout making mistakes.
I started writing some fanfiction about 12 years ago (non GOT). I struggle to write more because I can't remember where my head was at when i started it, nor do I remember where i was going with it. This guy is 40+ years older than me, so I imagine it is way harder at that age to continue a story you started 26 years ago. Hopefully AI will get sophisticated enough to write it for him based on previous works.
The community will just have to band together to finish the series when he is gone. Or he has secretly been working on both and wont have them released till he is gone. That way he doesn’t have to face any backlash or criticisms .
I can’t see him ever finishing it purely because the HBO series happened. I agree with the Brandon Sanderson idea because of the excellent job he did with WoT. It has to be remembered that Robert Jordan wrote copious amounts of notes. The same would have to be true for A Dream of Spring or it wouldn’t work. I believe the HBO series is King Kong on GGRM’s back. I really don’t think he knows how to end it and is scared of writing it because it will be micro analysed more than enjoyed. Another possibility is maybe it is written to be published posthumously sometime in the future…
He’s written the last of the story.. He’s creative enough, intelligent enough.. He’s written the finale for after his passing. This promised his heart’s desire to provide for those he loves. … I promise.. the story is told, the tale is written.
Honestly at his age he should be enjoying life and a nice retirement home. Be sad if he doesnt finish but i think we can all still be grateful for the amazing story and world he brought us.
agree, people are too harsh on him. The story has already achieved what all art is meant to do, it evokes, influences, gives you an escape and all that other good stuff. The appeal in particular of this story isn't it's overarching narrative and where it all ends up but rather the style by which he writes characters and his incredible worldbuilding, at least in my opinion.
@@sum8601 That's the thing for me. Do I wish we would have the last two books? Obviously. But what's already on the page across five MASSIVE books is enough story to be enjoyed for a lifetime, I'm just glad we have them.

As time goes by I’m more and more glad I never started reading these, because I don’t think my heart can take being disappointed by GOT twice in one lifetime. But I don’t want them if somebody else takes over to finish the series, I want George’s vision or nothing at all
Silverblood - The North Remembers is a COMPLETE ending which is amazing, and it's longer than storm. I have asoiaf fanfic myself but I wouldn't continue. dude you are the engagement GOAT.
I'd just like to know how much collaboration and out sourcing he's used so far. If he's gotten to this point and recieved considerable help I think his over arching idea and oversight may be enough to steer us to a satisfactory conclusion even at the hands of another. If this is all him 100% I struggle to see it being done right without him.
I don't believe GRRM will finish Winter or Spring and I can only hope he will share his ending thoughts for both novels to his research assistants or Ty Franks, to finish the story. Though I have accepted the disappointment of never knowing where the storylines will end.
Kafka wrote many incomplete works, most notably, "The Castle", that literally ends mid-sentence. That said, comparing 19th century dystopian, surrealism that created it's own genre ("Kafka-esque") to a fantasy writer isn't really fair. I'm sure George has trials and tribulations like all of us, but Kafka was a broken, frail, mentally-ill victim of parental abuse, whom died in his 40's. Kafka's final instructions included having all his works, complete amd incomplete, burned. If not for his singular, loyal friend Max Brode, realizing the value of the insights in his work, that genre of surrealism/dystopia wouldn't exist. Let's hope George has such loyal friends, otherwise, I don't think he's going to release either book in his lifetime. Other than pleasing eager fans, it's kind of a lose-lose situation for him, and the show definitely played a part in fans clamoring for a different ending, when for all we know, those "broad strokes" would be the series ending, with Bran on the throne. There's no scenario where he makes the entire fanbase happy, and he probably feels it's best to just sit on what he has, and release it posthumously. Finished or not, I don't think he plans to "be around" to see whether fans accept his vision for ending ASOIAF.
Clearly Dan and DB Weiss are the best choice, surely Ol' Georgie would finish his books from the afterlife if they were writing his ending in text format this time
There are so many lore experts on TH-cam, if they got a team together of lore experts and professional writers, I bet they could deliver a dream of spring which ties everything up and follows the symbolism and pays off the story lines, especially with George’s help. Just trusting it to a single author because they are famous would be a massive mistake. George has his own unique style, you would not want a new creative director adding their own style to it, you would want a team of experts dedicated to reproducing George’s style and concluding his plot lines in painstaking detail.
I don’t think Brandon Sanderson would even want to… in some of his lectures he expressed how hard it was for him to read, but in later interviews (or was it a podcast?) he did share his admiration for the story
I’m more worried that I’ll die before he finishes those damn books. Almost twenty years since I first read got. That’s a long time to be invested in a book series and still no end anywhere even remotely in sight.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he already has an ending and how he wants it to end, but the fact that he’s writing the entire story to that ending. I’d like to think that he’d have somebody in close with him on the novels. I’ve watched the shows, I’m currently reading the first book for the first time! 😃
I think he spoke truth then, and that's why he has not finished Winds of Winter. Plus, he had created to many characters. There's probably no way to pull all the threads together in only 2 books. Dany hasn't even reached Westeros as yet!
It is really, really, really hard to finish writing a big project if you just don't care anymore. That said, maybe WoW and DoS are both already finished and he'll do a Blackstar. It's one or the other at this point.
I’ve seen people say that his blog post from the 11th of march this year is a cryptic tease that he’s done with winds or is nearly done. It has the blue flower that connects to Jon, the title is Words Of Wisdom (WoW) and the quote talks of dreams. I don’t think I believe it but it’s interesting.
Sanderson, while a prolific fantasy writer, would not be the right choice. You need a gritty character writer that gets into the weeds of what's in someone's head, Sandersons expertise at world building and large scale battles would not be wasted entirely in Westeros, but it's not what's needed to finish the tale.
Only writer that i can think of that has done something on the scale and level of intricacy of GoT is Steven Erikson. Joe Abercrombie isn't too bad either but i just don't think he is on Georges level as far as the pure writing goes.
You say Martin doesn't have kids of his own as if children inherit their parents' talent. Are there any great writer's or musician's kids who became great themselves or they just parasitize on their parents legacy?
There are a few actors who’s children have made a name for themselves I don’t think Miley Cyrus has leeched of billy ray Cyrus very much But if your talking specifically about authors? I have heard Stephen kings son is pretty good although I haven’t read any of his stuff he used a pen name ‘Joe Hill’ so he could create his own career
@@Insanepie Fair enough there are some examples of succcesful kids, nepotism works. But in the case of Stephen King's son even while he is using a pen name, everyone knows who's son he is. And it definitely helps him to attract attention.
The thing is that George has already let somebody else finish his story. They are David Benioff and DB Weiss. If he never finishes the books and nobody else finishes it for him then the show is basically the canon ending of the story. That said you might as well have a talented author take over and correct the mistake that was the ending of the show.
Any chance of an apology to us book fans who made him rich, long before the tv series? Long before Martin wasted years going to every interview and convention and opening of an envelope, instead of actually finishing the books? Thought not.
Or the fact he keeps stringing people along and not being honest. Just tell the people that you are not interested. Maybe I’m stuck. Whatever it is. Like 14 years and he gets mad at his fans.
Agreed so just tell the truth then, he doesn't owe us lies either. It's the book fans who made him famous in the first place, he owes them the truth.@@sebasjgjfnz6912
Brandon Sanderson managed to finish the sprawling chaos of wheel of time and he really likes GRRM and would obviously take his wishes into account. But like with the shows people are really into the lore of the world so having open ended things and alternate versions of stories (eg mushroom’s version of events always being different) is kind of also ok
Thing is, Sanderson was a big fan of the Wheel of Time (even influenced by it) hence his ability to finish it. For ASOIAF, it probably wouldn't work since Sanderson himself said that he wouldn't accept it due to different writing styles and how much darker GRRM's books are relative to his. Would just be jarring honestly.
All I want is a new tv series 50-100 years after the events of game of thrones.. I wanna see what the future looks like and the stories that could be told
Would be weird... How will u write something in future if u don't what happened before that... That's like starting entirely new thing, so it won't be having relevance to GoT or entire ASOIAF
George has those 2 people that have been proof reading all his work for decades. They adore his work and he uses them to check for inconsistencies. Not sure how strong writers they are, but they would should be involved.
He should writes notes and an outline for the final book in case he dies. He could also nominate a successor and meet with them to tell them what he wants.
I wouldn't want someone else finishing it, it won't be canon. But I wouldn't mind if some short recap was left by George about how he sees it end. So at least we would know what he was thinking.
Ive said for a long time that this series was never ment to be finished. ..George has already included enough info over the years that we can come up with our own endings...
Hard disagree. Look at the show. I never watch past Season 4 because I prefer the story being unfinished at that point over the shitshow that was the later seasons
A Song of Ice and Fire was a passion of love when George started writing it. He wasn’t trying to write a world for US. He mostly wrote sci fi on the side while working on TV shows. This was a hobby, not a career for the man. We took the magic out of writing. It’s our fault for what’s happened to George and the book series. We beat down a mans joy, formed it into a laborious task.
I really hope that the reason it’s taking so long is that he’s writing the winds of winter and a dream on spring at the same time. Or back to back and just not saying it. A fan can dream lol
The obvious choice to finish the series is Steven Erikson. He's already completed a sprawling epic of a series and can write in pretty much any style asked of him.
I would love for him to have a protege that shares his vision for the world which can continue to write, i dont need someone complete the story for completing the story but even still I’d probably read it despite it being only half as good as what George made as i love the world.

Don't be surprised if George tries to do a Ready Player One style thing when he dies
Hell yea
It will be in VR westeros
The key to world and all ownership of the brand lies in Sothoryos, u need at least a level 99 dragon, all items full Valyrian steel and a minimum of 7 points - magic stats

Franck was GRRM's personal assistant for like a decade. And Abraham was GRRM's protégé

I respect Sanderson but him completing ASOIAF would be a travesty
Most respectful way to go about it would be to have someone like Sanderson come in to finish it and publish it along with his own outline in a companion book for people who don't want to recognize Sandersons writing as canon because those people will exist
Obviously those people will exist because we wouldn’t truly be getting the proper stories. GRRM is a gardener, his stories evolve as he writes so he doesn’t have an outline he can give to someone to publish.

Words are winds, oh my sweet summer child. We're experiencing the Long Night and The Prints That Was Promised will forever just be A Dream of Spring.
Clearly Dan and DB Weiss are the best choice, surely Ol' Georgie would finish his books from the afterlife if they were writing his ending in text format this time
I wish him good health regardless if he chooses to finish the novel or not.
Way back when I was young and started reading these , I never thought I would die of old age before knowing the ending of this series by his own pen.😢
ironic that he talks about christopher, now that we have that dreaded awful amazon series.... utter garbage
hopefully something better comes along in middle earth
was just thinking that as well
Isn't Tolkiens son dead too?
Christopher died in 2020
I don’t think Brandon Sanderson would even want to… in some of his lectures he expressed how hard it was for him to read, but in later interviews (or was it a podcast?) he did share his admiration for the story
You know, even if he was 20, with the rate he’s going at, I’d still believe he’ll die before he finishes.
12 years ago he said he wasn’t going to finish them as he no longer felt it! I hope that changes and he can get them done!
Elio and Linda? I suspect they know the ending already
You say Martin doesn't have kids of his own as if children inherit their parents' talent. Are there any great writer's or musician's kids who became great themselves or they just parasitize on their parents legacy?
There are a few actors who’s children have made a name for themselves
I don’t think Miley Cyrus has leeched of billy ray Cyrus very much
But if your talking specifically about authors? I have heard Stephen kings son is pretty good although I haven’t read any of his stuff he used a pen name ‘Joe Hill’ so he could create his own career
@@Insanepie Fair enough there are some examples of succcesful kids, nepotism works. But in the case of Stephen King's son even while he is using a pen name, everyone knows who's son he is. And it definitely helps him to attract attention.
I am brand new reader and i really hope this old man finishes the whole series
The thing is that George has already let somebody else finish his story. They are David Benioff and DB Weiss. If he never finishes the books and nobody else finishes it for him then the show is basically the canon ending of the story. That said you might as well have a talented author take over and correct the mistake that was the ending of the show.
Lmao!
MeUndies!!
Perhaps the perfect plug considering the news here.
He doesn't owe us anything.
@@sebasjgjfnz6912 ehhhh well he sure doesn’t owe us his lies.
Was really hoping for a West of Westeros series
Would be weird... How will u write something in future if u don't what happened before that... That's like starting entirely new thing, so it won't be having relevance to GoT or entire ASOIAF
George has those 2 people that have been proof reading all his work for decades. They adore his work and he uses them to check for inconsistencies. Not sure how strong writers they are, but they would should be involved.
Winter ain't ever coming
He should writes notes and an outline for the final book in case he dies. He could also nominate a successor and meet with them to tell them what he wants.
I wouldn't want someone else finishing it, it won't be canon. But I wouldn't mind if some short recap was left by George about how he sees it end. So at least we would know what he was thinking.
Ive said for a long time that this series was never ment to be finished. ..George has already included enough info over the years that we can come up with our own endings...
A complete story is better than an incomplete story doesn't matter who wrote it
Hard disagree.

❤
Joe Abercrombie would be my choice to finish the series after George. His writing tone is similar to his
It's crazy that the biggest chance we have of actually getting a new book is him actually dying and someone else picking it up
I really hope that the reason it’s taking so long is that he’s writing the winds of winter and a dream on spring at the same time. Or back to back and just not saying it. A fan can dream lol
Skill issue
The obvious choice to finish the series is Steven Erikson. He's already completed a sprawling epic of a series and can write in pretty much any style asked of him.
I would love for him to have a protege that shares his vision for the world which can continue to write, i dont need someone complete the story for completing the story but even still I’d probably read it despite it being only half as good as what George made as i love the world.
