I started it and watched the entire 8 seasons in like 2 weeks lol, I just couldn’t stop watching. I was a bit disappointed with the ending as that is not what I wanted to happen with Jon Snow (my fav character) but overall it was an epic show. I just got the first book bc now I am reading those to see the differences and similarities etc. but I could have sworn that I saw something with George and he said they were completed. Yeah, I think we all know the last 2 books will NEVER be released. I understand that (to use his friend’s words) “he owes his readers nothing”, but for heaven’s sake, the guy has made millions out of the amazing world he’s created, he keeps saying he’s going to finish asoiaf and 11 years after the last book was released, we are still waiting. If he came out and said he had lost his passion for writing and given up, I’d begrudgingly accept it, but at least be honest George!!!

This may have been over a decade ago but I think after seeing the final couple of seasons of GOT and how it ended, I think GRRM went back to change some things to ensure his book ending will be much better than the show ending

This. It's not that he's not writing. He still writes plenty. He's just not writing The Winds of Winter. And he probably never will. I think he's overwhelmed by it, especially given how ravenous the fanbase has become and how much hate he'll get if it doesn't live up to the impossible level of hype that's built up around it over the years.
I think with the success of elden ring and hotd he's just given up on finishing got. Especially since we all got the gist of what the ending would be like and he knows everyone thinks its trash.
He needs a tour guide for Staten Island.. preferably one of his fans or someone who appreciates art that knows where to go. There’s a few amazing places there (mostly not well travelled)
