    Awesome to be in this video with y'all. Hope everyone enjoys it! Also I meant to say Taro and Ube are pretty much the same, when it comes to taste (in dessert form), not the same thing as in ube comes from taro! Mybbad!

      I agree. Jollibee is the most overhyped shit simply because it's Filipino. It's mediocre food at best. Filipinos desperately cling onto it trying to scrape together what little pride we can scrounge up because we have very little to show to the world. So basically anything "filipino" we will worship even if it sucks. If someone dissess McDonalds do you think americans will care lol?

    • @banyohazard69
      @banyohazard69 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wilda Marie Rivera
      Adobo is an indigenous Filipino food.
      It has nothing to do with Spain.
      the Filipino natives have been cooking that stuff even during pre-colonial times.

    • @WildaMarieRivera
      @WildaMarieRivera 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha! Over here it's a mix of spices to season meat or... Anything you want lol

    • @banyohazard69
      @banyohazard69 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wilda Marie Rivera
      The pre-colonial Filipinos have been cooking the dish we now call Adobo even before the arrival of the Spaniards.
      When the Spaniards arrived to the islands, they saw the natives (Filipinos) cooking a dish; a stew, which is stewed in vinegar and spices, like garlic, pepper, bay leaf, etc..
      The Spaniards thought that the "native" dish reminded them of their own way of cooking back home in Spain, which is "Adobar". Which means to "marinate" in Spanish.
      So they called the native dish as Adobo.
      Hence the dish is called Adobo.
      But Adobo is a uniquely indigenous Filipino dish.
      Aside from pork and chicken, Filipinos also use squid, fish and even vegetables (water Spinach), etc.
      Originally Adobo was cooked using only vinegar and spices, but later on when the Chinese started trading with the pre-colonial Filipinos, they brought with them soy sauce. Which eventually also became a staple ingredient in most Adobo.
      By the way just to give you an idea of how long this dish has been around; Pre-colonial Filipinos were already trading with our neighbors in S.E. Asia, with China, India, Arabs and Ryukyu kingdom (Okinawa), long before the west came to Asia.
      And we were cooking it even before we traded with these countries/kingdoms. And these countries/kingdoms have been trading with the pre-colonial Filipinos long before the arrival of Spain.
      The reason why Adobo is popular in the Philippines during pre-colonial times and even today is because Adobo has a very long shelf life. It does not spoil easily. This is because of the vinegar component of the dish.
      Preserving food was a very important thing during pre-colonial times.

    "top ramen of the philippines, pancit canton" haahaha
    a lot of people confuses chow mein with ramen rofl ;)
    btw at 3:14 i like the fact that AJ did that. it's very common among young boys usually teens in the philippines to sit on a curb or any low elevated floor then eat
    snacks or street foods. reminds me so much of my highschool days.

    • @butter3772
      @butter3772 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      negawut™ chow mein is made from la mian noodles.And guess what?La mian is the same as ramen.Ramen is just the japanese word for la mian.

    • @GeeaRCee
      @GeeaRCee 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +negawut™
      His analogy is for the popularity in the noodles section. Not as the soup noodles since pancit canton does not have soup. We do have a substitute for soup noodles like ramen, it would be mami, but pancit canton is still a better seller than mami in the Philippines. Lol!

      antonio del rosario Pinoys on the mainland haven't forgotten how to cook you know. hehe. we have almost all of those foods here. except maybe for the red hotdogs. and you can't get fresh chicharron like in the Philippines. the vietnamese store in my neighborhood even just started selling balut -- but they are cold -- note like the ones in the bucket that are still warm. :-)

    Went to Ilocos Norte in Jan. this yr. I discovered more about the Filipino culture and being a third world country, it humbled me. They had to use water buckets to flush and all and the most affordable vehicle there was a motorcycle. The people there were very warm and friendly. I stood out lol being the only mixed light skinned dude there lol but people treated me respectfully. Filipinos very hard workers and pretty chill people. Really respect their culture. I had a blast in the Ilocos Norte in the Philippines with my wife and her family and all and made a lot of new buds. Probably my favorite asian culture other than Japanese and Chinese. My favorite food is Spanish food and Filipino food there are some similarities i notice.

      Music_lover:) Come on, no doubt you might have a few spicy dishes, I tasted the so called spiciness of the Filipino food. Oh my god. it's not spicy at all for Thai and Indonesian standards and some say Malaysian standard. I have friends with Filipino maids from Bocolod, Cebu, different parts of Luzon, different parts of Mindanao etc etc, none of their cooking is spicy, my friends asked them to cook the most spicy Filipino food (they wanted to try something special and new), but unfortunately it was a big disappointment, Filipino food just ain't spicy enough for ASEAN standard.

      That is probably because they are not so familiar with it. Unlike their other videos where you can see that they are more knowledgeable with the food as they grow up eating them. So they can be more natural and sassy. Filipino food is also not as known as other Asian foods like Thai, Indian,Korean and so on, and its more of a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish Cuisine.

      Kusina can mean kitchen or cuisine. I think "kusina" is derived from the Spanish word, and it's related with the French word "cuisine". I think the etymology of those terms are denoting kitchen and cuisine, which in a sense, are almost synonymous (even though in modern terms, kitchen is a place where people cook, and cuisine is a type of food from a certain place.....like a kitchen).

    Technically, Filipino would use their hands to eat their meal.
    But everything looks so good!

      ***** It's not really barbaric, it's more of a traditional style. That style is said to have been adopted from early Indian influence. But it is true that nearly all Filipinos eat with spoons and forks.

      Yeah, but i think that depends on a person's preference, and some dishes. They probably didn't eat with their hands in the video for sanitary purposes. It's better to eat with your hands when you're in your own home or another filipino's home. The only time I kind of eat with my hands is when I eat fish. I prefer to separate the bones with my fingers and being safe lol

    Does some here knows why Filipinos and Latinos have so much in common? like names of peoples, food, dishes, some traditional staff. We are so far apart but I find so many things in common and I still don't know why that happens. Are Filipinos related some how to us or Spain in the line of History?

      Google, Wikipedia, I don't know? The internet maybe? In this day and age of such ease and accessibility of knowledge thanks to the internet, there is literally no reason not to know something. A simple Wikipedia search of the country Philippines, you can find that the Spanish occupied the Philippines from 1521 up until the late 19th century.
