I received mine today, ordered from Amazon. I managed to buy it for £70.37 (UK) and that was the best price that I had seen - however I became a bit concerned after learning from your video that there's fakes about. So the very first thing I did even before I set it up was to come back here to check mine against this fake ...and phew , I'm relieved that I have a gen item. I'm now going off to set it up - so thx for the great video on what to look for in a Gen vs. Fake GS-2100.
It would be almost impossible to have received a fake via Amazon, unless it was directly from their market sellers.
if you are that concerned register the product for warranty and you will know if its real or fake lol
I also noticed that the words G-SHOCK and PROTECTION on the bezel face are slightly curved on the genuine version compared to straight on the fake. Great videos, thanks so much for these
3:26 look how the 9 o'clock marker is shorter on the real one in order to accomodate the flow of the dail, while in the fake one it interrupts the circle and is clearly longer.

simply check the serial number on the back bottom in casio website.
Compared this to my GA-2100-1A1 that I was lucky enough to buy from Tilly's and instantly spotted all the fake's flaws compared to mine. Definitely sticking to authorized retailers like so as these fakes are getting quite detailed, lol. Thank you for the info!

The biggest giveaway of a counterfeit watch is the DST and HND wording (perfectly aligned on a fake model), serial code on back case (font stands out from the writings), the circular day day indicator (sharp like curved claws on original, flattened on fake model) and the auto light function (fakes have this function, original doesn’t).

I notice the real one has a serial number on the back. The fake one has no serial number.
jeez i just ordered one from Amazon - unfortunately I'm not going to be able to tell if it is fake or real until I receive it as the differences are very subtle. However I will be using your video to educate myself and I will be sending it back if it turns out to be a fake . Great video on the comparisons , so thx

You should know just by trying hand retracting function
I also have a bad feeling when I buy a watch on Amazon. I can give you a tip. You can have a map displayed on the internet showing all the official Casio partners in your country. Now you have to find an online shop where the address matches such a Casio partner. Always buy G-Shocks the direct way. The offer and the price are much better than on Amazon. For me, Amazon is only the last option if a watch cannot be found anywhere else.

The axis that holds the hour-minute and day hands are the obvious giveaway, as well as the back plate and thickness. That is how I identify them personally.

Also notice how the back of the hour hand covers way more of the day dial compared to the real thing when it’s about 2-3pm. If you look on the side of the fake, the 4 screws are more recessed into the case vs the real.

Looks like something you missed on both videos was the actual carbon core. On the fake it seems there is none. its just a solid plastic case where on the original you can see the separation of the carbon core and the plastic bezel @4:35 looking at the backs.

What? I got mine for 150e and it’s original. Only full metal ones are more expensive and even those don’t go to 1000e
@@AcaYT Its just a general comment on the popularity of the ga2100...2110... people are making fakes... and others are customizing (genuines and fakes)... and i have seen customised versions sell for USD1000 which makes no sense.

What about serial number or product number
in any other digital watch, like, who cares, I wouldn't, but this is a g-shock, a watch whose main purpose is to be tough as hell and that you will put it through hell... on of these fake pieces will fail the minute you submerge it in water. Thanks for the video, there are A LOT of fakes out there
i got a new high quality fakes which is the V3 i think. been wearing while swimming nothing happen… also i opened the backcase it also have greased gasket for waterproof 😊

How about retracting the arrows to the zero position when setting the time on a fake? Did they add this functionality to a fake?

I think I got faked. The ebay seller showed 9 pictures, and lettering DST HND looks like the fake, the thickness and the watch band buckle look wrong. Mind you these are stock pictures, but im pretty sure when I get it, im getting a fake at this point. Its a black dial with silver case, so its a bit different than this one. but I got scammed dang it. Cant cancel the order either.

I would of I could., but a lot of their colors were discontinued. I need that olive green lol. Doesn't look too hard to tell a fake from a real one though.

I have the original watch from the official distribution, but in the black and orange version, and the inscription "casio thailand" on the buckle is identical to the one you have on this counterfeit watch. Watching these videos you can fall into paranoia, even though I have a 100% original, I find some differences by force 😀 Hands should be cut off for the manufacture and sale of counterfeits. Elo 🙋♂️

I just bought 1 and the strap says Casio Japan, I’ve seen some videos that shows the real watch says Casio Thailand, should I be worried ?

I just got one too, and the buckle says Casio China and the case says Cased in China, but everthing else matches youre video, so is this troubling? And i am from Europe, it is bought at an official Casio dealer.
I read the european version say china, and the us say Thailand.

I ordered mine off Amazon. It came in a black presentation box, no intl warranty, and the buckle says “Casio China.” It is the butter yellow one that is no longer in production. What do you think? Thanks!
I just got that same version, also off Amazon. Is it the really pure yellow one or the more cream colored? If the cream, that’s a Japanese only version which is why it comes in the nice black, textured box with a black sleeve. The Japanese ones don’t have the warranty cards. It does have the Japanese price tag and a white carbon core guard tag on the upper wrist band. My buckle also says Casio china which was surprising. Appears to be genuine to me though based on everything in the video and more.

This serial number is one that's baffling me. I've seen reviews of this watch in some Casio fan sites and the back of some of the watches don't appear to have serial numbers.
These watches look the same as original, except for that.
You can also look at Casio International site. The back case doesn't have a serial number :

They can make a watch that looks similar but cuts corners in all the other ways in order to lower the price of making it..
The main difference is that the real one really has a carbon core guard which can be seen on the case back
