State of Origin. The Tate Incident.

  • State of Origin 2012, Game 3. This is a favourite for Blues supporters to show how QLD players are "Grubs". I'm not sure if a swinging arm and gouging an elbow into an eye socket are fair game though. Grant seems to fly under the radar a bit in this incident, even though it was his actions that sparked the biff.
All footage is owned by Channel 9/ WIN.

When the teams captain sees fit to lead by example and do stupid shit like that, that’s why they don’t win games

Gallen is notorious for swinging arms and cheap shots in tackles which he often gets penalized for, Brent Tate may have hit him by mistake in this instance but he was still grinding his arm on Tates face either way which he does all the time in tackles, adding to that your boy Gallen punching Nate Myles was the reason punches became outlawed in the game. So yeah next time you get frustrated at how soft the game has become you can thank you boy Gallen getting the ball rolling on that

Was funny to hear Peter Sterling make reference to the Michael Jennings incident, which saw him in the bin. Yet Tate didn't even cop a penalty. The way QLD was able to intimidate the officials in this era was always surprising, but impressive at the same time. It was almost like the referees were over-awed to be on the field with so many big names at the same time. The 50-50 calls always went the way of the Maroons, and fair play to Smith and Co. for being able to manipulate so effectively. It played a big part in such a long period of success.

lol If Tate wants to throw punches in a footy game maybe he should jump in the ring and box Gal? Not sure he’d be so keen when the other bloke isn’t restrained. Besides - Qld drop the elbow almost every tackle and twist knees, Nate Myles was the master of the knee twist while I player is held before hitting the ground. Throwing stones is dangerous when you live in a glass house champion.
