The ref had a shocker that day, but his poor decisions were not the reason England lost, Eddie Jones relied on players who had a fantastic record with England, but did not have playing time at a high enough level due to 1. COVID, 2. Saracens being dropped down to the Championship. England did not have their best players on the day (Eddie Jones’s fault) and came up against a much better Welsh side. So many forward passes get missed in professional rugby all the time.
Should the Television Match Official have the ability to call a forward pass even if the ref and assistants missed it by being un-sighted, and don't call for the TMO's opinion?
I think the TMO should be allowed to call it.

The Ref gave the right call against Beale: But that welsh try, is absolute BS! Watch the welsh centre deliberately knocked the ball down, preventing the pass to Beale. that's no different to what Beale did. The Ref didn't even want to look into the deliberate knock-down, in his mind it was a try. I don't give a crap weather the ball was knocked down or back, the welsh player had no intention of catching the ball. He intentionally Knocked the ball away preventing a try. This Ref call is total BS. Other Refs would have given the yellow-card, not a try.

I find the number of rules that are not applied in rugby, most interesting. I played first class rugby in the 80's at position hooker. A. I recently read the rule that the ball should still be thrown into the scrum in the middle and straight. It simply does not get applied. Today the scrumhalf's can just as well throw the ball straight to his backline. This is funny. No art for the hooker to win a tight head. Teams should select three props. B. The rule is when any player throws the ball into a line out, his feet should be outside the playing field. I saw some players standing inside the line when they throw the ball in. C. At kick offs players are almost always in front of the ball, without action from referees. D. If the spot where a receiver of a ball receives the ball, is in front of the spot where the player passed the ball to him, it is a forward pass. Some "clever" people reason that the direction of the hands establish a forward pass or not. That is not the rule. It seems like a bit of chaos to me. Every rugby match I watch, these rules get broken all the time.

The Wales guy knocking it "backwards" is debatable. We have to decide what's backwards, if it's anything moving backwards, then yes that's backwards. If it's anything in front of the player when the player is facing forwards then that's a knock on. Most cases this would have been called a knock on. There's probably so many "knock ons" that went backwards like this and they counted as knock ons and this like the only 1 or one of very few to not count. I see that as a knock on for that reason, and I just ask for more consistency of the rule with this then if it doesn't count as a knock on.
