So many great songs from the Monkees. Great songwriting from the experts. Great audio and video production. I was about 12, and found the TV show aimed directly at me, with it's zany humor, sunny California dreaming vibe, and very early use of synthesizers. Their music still sounds very fresh today.

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees! Yes, the Monkees was a tv show, 1967-69? I could be wrong on the dates. It ran for 2 seasons. It was created to make a band and sell records feeding off the British invasion of bands. Basically Davy Jones, the singer here and Mickey on tambourine, were actors while Mike playing guitar and Peter on the piano were musicians. There is a lot of trivia associated with these guys... Mike's mother invented white-out, and he was the first to do video which led to MTV... Keep checking them out, they had some really good songs! :)

"The Monkees" tv show was on for two seasons in the mid-60's and was very popular. The lead singer Davy Jones was a teeny-bop poster boy as were the other three, but too a lesser degree. The show featured the foursome as themselves in bizarre situations and a lot of zany dialogue, colorful sets and clothes, gorgeous girls, and a new Monkees song each week, several of which went on to be timeless classics.

Probably their biggest hit from 1967. They were big in the 60s. Sadly, only one member of the Monkees is still around.

I actually saw them in the late 80s my uncle took me to see them in ATL. We were so far up in the stands they could have been real monkeys for all we knew 😂. But there was just 3 of them then and they were alot older. But it was great fun and they sounded the same x

I loved The Monkees. I was 9 years old in 1967 and I wanted to be Mrs Mickey Dolenz. I never missed this show. Too bad it was only on for two seasons.

I used to rush home after school to watch their TV show. The band was formed specifically for the show & the guys did not know each other prior to getting the job, which was a silly sitcom kind of show. Kinda like the Disney TV shows they have after school for kids today. The had a lot of fun tunes, as well. Davy Jones, the lead singer was my crush at age 12 or so. LOL

@@MIxxEDREACTIONS0520 It wasn't just for kids, I was in college when the Monkees TV show was on, and those of us in dorms had to get down to the TV lounge EARLY to get a place to watch it every week, it was always PACKED and some had to stand outside the room and watch it through the glass walls, which wasn't always a good place as it was hard to hear it. It was really fun and great songs. I have both seasons on DVD now. I am 75 and STILL a Monkees AND BEATLES ' fan. Sadly the ONLY MONKEE still alive is Mickey Dolenz (the one playing tambourine in the video, he was the drummer. Davy Jones (from England) the one singing lead here and dancing passed away first in 2012 of a heart attack at the age of 66. Mike Nesmith in the white shirt playing guitar died in Dec 2021 from congestive heart failure, at the age of 78. Peter Tork, the blonde playing the piano next to Davy, died in Feb. 2019 from cancer at the age of 77, Peter played guitar and bass. All 4 of them sang. They were a talented group of guys ant it was always fun watching them and listening to their records.

Yep, you saw the show! Same guys! 😊
Please do react to one of the episodes!
Sleepy Jean was written by Harry Neilson, a composer and singer, and hard partying member of the Hollywood Vampires, a drinking club. Members included my favorite Monkee, Micky Dolenz (weird guy with the blue shirt and crazy fro), Alice Cooper, John Lennon, and a few others.
Songs, "Lime in the Coconut", "Can't Live (If Living is Without You)" are some of Neilson's best songs, and he provided the music for You've Got Mail.
I hope his soul is at peace.

The monkees show was on Nickelodeon in the mid to late 1980s (in reruns) as a kid in the 80s the 1960s was like the 90s a few years ago or the early 2000s now if that makes any sense. Our parents blasted 60s music and we saw tons of 60s sitcoms as well. Then 60s was retro and making a comeback.

Now it's interesting that you picked up on the lead singer's accent because he is in fact English, and the truth is, although there are lots and lots of famous UK pop/rock singers, the vast majority of them sing -for some weird reason - in an American accent. For figure.
