After seeing Super Mario 3D All-Stars, yeah... But, I am happy they rereleased those games as I haven’t played a single one (except maybe if you can count 64DS, but that’s a completely different version of the game) and I have high hopes.
My neighbor had Sega Channel back in the day.... I remember us all tripping out when we saw this on the download list for that month. "Mega Man on Genesis? WHAT?"
I think the new bosses are also supposed to be based on character's from the Chinese epic Journey to the West. I think Buster Rod G. is supposed to be a robot Son Goku.
Back in college I had a roommate who was obsessed with MegaMan. I mean obsessed to the point he knew every pixel and could literally play the games blind folded, and would have to give himself handicaps to make the game more challenging. Stuff like taking a shot every time he died, or having to play one handed, the guy was insane. I watched him play Wily Wars back in the day (Wow, over 10yrs ago now..), and he would regularly point out the flaws. The only one I can remember was that the game had a minor balancing issue with weapon damage, and the game had more slow down than the original NES versions, making many of the bosses and fights substantially easier.
On a whim, I decided to play Wily Wars via the Sega Genesis app on Nintendo Switch Online. I've been playing games since I got my first Nintendo in 1986, but this is my first exposure to Mega Man -- emulated on a Genesis on a Switch. Anyway, I beat Mega Man 3 (with a lot of help from modern conveniences) and it was fun! I can't imagine how an 8-year-old would have done it 30 years ago.
Megaman fan here and I don't understand why this compilation gets so much hate. Its really great being able to play a 16 bit remake that has more effort put into it than ninja gaiden trilogy
nimaiiikun The #1 reason....control. This game has irritating internal lag. Regardless of what region version you play. This is especially noticable on MM2 Dr Will stage 1 when you need to use Item 1 to cross. The game just has ridiculous slowdown...clearly not optimized for the Mega Drive.
+nimaiiikun Nah dude, sorry to say if you own a copy but this game sucks and is an insult to the Mega Drive capabilities. But I guess the exclusive content kinda makes up for this if you're a Mega Man fan.
Currently this is my favorite game to play on the Genesis Mini, and that's in large part due to the Wily Tower section and the ability to customize your weapons inventory. I don't much care for the arrangement of the music on the Metal Man and Quick Man stages, but I don't have much to gripe about otherwise.
Another solid and quick video from my fellow Minnesotan.. This is an awesome thing to compare back and forth with, if anybody is curious about three ~ 20 min videos comparing them from start to finish and talking about the difference in strategies with some parts of the games too... it’ll definitely be fun for anybody that wants to see THAT much of Wily Wars.
Sure, to remove slowdown: 1. Load the game in Regen. 2. Click tools->overclock m68000->pick a multiple of 8 value. 808 cycles is enough to remove all slowdown. GG codes: 1. Google "wily wars gg codes" and click the gamehacking link. 2. Scroll down to find and check the boxes for the no delay and bullet speed codes, plus anything else you might want. 3. Click download in the top right below the portrait and pick checked codes, and change to regen as the format, then save to regen's cheat folder. 4. Click system->cheats in regen and locate the file - now you can toggle any codes on or off from the menu that pops up. 5. Enjoy. :) Note that there's still movement delay after climbing a ladder or if you turn slowly while moving (use a controller with a good d-pad).
When I got the Sega Genesis mini 3 years ago, I couldn't imagine playing MegaMan on Sega with a Genesis controller! Its definitely worth checking it out! However, in terms of gameplay, I think the NES versions win just because they feel so much tighter and easier to control!
Very nice video. I played this one a few years back. It's good. It has issues, but some of the complaints I've seen are irrational. What else is new? The extra content is a nice touch. I remember thinking Capcom made better use of the NES sound chip than their sub contractor, I believe it was Minakuchi Engineering that did this, did with the Genesis FM sound. However, I really love the Metal Man theme, and for entirely different reasons than the NES version. I definitely want to revisit this one again.
This is great, but there's one little complication. It's nothing major, but in Mega Man 2 there isn't a difficulty option. So, instead of remaking MM2 from the normal difficulty, they made the game default to the difficult mode.
I've played the European hacked Rom version at 60Hz and it was awesome. The music in the unlocked levels are also very nice. Played it on an 8bitdo controller. Here is the hacked version: "Megaman - The Wily Wars (E) [f2].smd". Note some emulators have a option to play European PAL Roms at 60hz, making them run a bit faster.
This is available on the ATGames' Sega Genesis TV consoles and handhelds. I got the "Ultimate Portable" thing from them JUST to play this game, and its pretty good. People seem to have a problem with the mini-consoles, not that I care much what people argue over in terms of old games' fidelity, but the handhelds they make with the Sega branding are pretty good. I really dig the heck out of this game, the best Mega Man looks in 16-bit (I'm not a fan of his bubbly dumb cartoon look in MM7).
Well the existence of this game is new to me. I didn't know they ever had a graphical revamp. I have the collection of 1-9 on PS2, but those are all normal graphics.
I finally played this pretty recently after knowing about it for years. I'm a huge, HUUGE megaman fan who's put, like you said, hundreds of hours into the games over the course of my life, and honestly I didn't find anything very bothersome with Wily Wars and in fact really loved the whole thing. Just having a new (and totally official) way to play some of my favorite games ever made was awesome, and Wily Tower is a really cool experience. I can definitely recommend this to any Mega Man fan, though yeah, make sure you have the ROM running in NTSC mode and have a patch to make sure the save system works properly since it can be finnicky. And yes, it should've been on the SNES and released as a normal box in USA with a 4-6 followup, but I digress :P
Playing this on the switch and Mega man 2 on this is way harder than the American release. A great collection for sure should have had a proper release.
SNES drunk no problem buddy, been subscribed for only a little while, but never saw a video of yours that wasn't good, thanks for the content, and thanks for replying, take care!
I loved the detailed backgrounds on most of the levels. Though some stages barely got an upgrade in graphics like Magnet Man and Shadow Man's levels. The controls don't feel as good as the Nes games, such as jumping and rapid firing the default weapon. Quick Man is not as fast as he should be when you fight him which is really surprising. Still this is a good game. When I first played it by emulation, I had to wait a while to be able to play the Wily Tower levels since at the time, the rom had trouble saving your game. The game I think was going to come out in the U.S. but was cancelled for some reason. And if you look up a photo of the cover art, the game was going to have an MA-13 rating for some reason, which at the time was equivalent to today's T rating on games today. Which I find strange since Mega Man games are not violent at all.
My biggest and groundbreaking problem with this game is the shooting rate... its unplayable almost. Everything else is super cool thats the sad part :(
Patrick Aubry: It's way easier than in "Mega Man" for Game Gear- there, you're only allowed two shots on screen at a time versus the usual three (no fucking joke!)!
The game felt very off without being able to put the exact words when I first tried it on an emulator. Now I know why thanks to the internet. Also all the redesigned graphics werent all that great. Willing to try it again on a mega drive due to the extra levels.
In my opinion, the music actually sounds better in 50hz. It might just be my weird brain, but the 60hz renditions sound a bit too fast. Also, the music in the Wily Wars stages is fantastic and some of the best Wily themes in the series, which makes it a shame that so many people missed out on this.
I think this review is spot-on. They definitely screwed up the button-mashing. Also, the slowdown is god-awful. How did they screw that up on the Sega? I love everything but the speed of Mega Man's shots- they're so slow and you cant rapid fire shoot, which kills a lot of the fun(yes, even in the NTSC version). Other than that the difficulty is better balanced and the presentation is flat out beautiful- both graphics and music
Just started playing this on my Genesis mini. I don't mind rebalancing the difficulty or anything like that, but certain enemies in the game are designed to be beaten with rapid fire shots, and taking that away just makes certain parts of the game really annoying. Especially with save states, it's not too hard to beat the first two games, but as someone used to the NES control it feels really weird to play parts of the game.
Yeah, I played that. Not really worth it since the size of the screen hides a lot of stuff, such as pits. You could only fire 2 shots at a time from the mega buster too.
I recommend the MegaMan X series Or MegaMan & Bass or MegaMan I’m game gear or MegaMan Soccer All of these are Super Nintendo games and 1 game gear game Though MegaMan and Bass got a release for the gba in 2001 MegaMan & Bass for Super Nintendo is a japan exclusive unless it’s the gba version here Hope You Do On Of These!

My two thoughts this morning: "God, I love Megaman." "God, I hope SNESdrunk drops another video soon." Good day.
Remember when compilation rereleases had effort put into them, and something new to offer?
After seeing Super Mario 3D All-Stars, yeah... But, I am happy they rereleased those games as I haven’t played a single one (except maybe if you can count 64DS, but that’s a completely different version of the game) and I have high hopes.
Pepperidge Farm remembers (sorry it's been too long since I've seen somebody do that)
looks like Sonic Origins is bringing that back, at least!
Yes I was there 3000 years ago.
@Buff Ringo man, how wrong i was, huh? lmao
My neighbor had Sega Channel back in the day.... I remember us all tripping out when we saw this on the download list for that month. "Mega Man on Genesis? WHAT?"
I wish they would have made a "Wily Wars 2" that had mega man 4, 5, and 6 with the 16 bit touch up.
There is mega man the sequel wars and they just released mm4 in it
I didn't know about the unlockables. I need to play this again.
Console Wars you should do mega man wily wars (Sega genesis) vs mega man 7 (Snes)
BluGamer X YES!!
Console Wars I was just about to say!! You guys should totally do this!!
Megaman The Wily Wars VS Megaman 7, Megaman X, Or Megaman And Bass. 😁
Or Mega Man Game Gear vs. The Mega Man game boys!
Megaman 1, 2 & 3 (NES) vs Megaman: The Wily Wars (Genesis).
I think the new bosses are also supposed to be based on character's from the Chinese epic Journey to the West. I think Buster Rod G. is supposed to be a robot Son Goku.
Correct. The G in Buster Rod G's name stands for Goku from the name Son Goku.

Mega Man on the Mega Drive makes so much sense
On a whim, I decided to play Wily Wars via the Sega Genesis app on Nintendo Switch Online. I've been playing games since I got my first Nintendo in 1986, but this is my first exposure to Mega Man -- emulated on a Genesis on a Switch.
Anyway, I beat Mega Man 3 (with a lot of help from modern conveniences) and it was fun! I can't imagine how an 8-year-old would have done it 30 years ago.

Ninja Garden sounds amazing.
If you play it in Regen you can remove all the slowdown (increase cpu cycles) and use some GG codes for more authentic shooting and movement.
+nimaiiikun
Nah dude, sorry to say if you own a copy but this game sucks and is an insult to the Mega Drive capabilities. But I guess the exclusive content kinda makes up for this if you're a Mega Man fan.
... And fortunately Capcom changed their stance afterwards and did excellent Street Fighter ports for the Mega Drive, the best 16-bit versions!
Currently this is my favorite game to play on the Genesis Mini, and that's in large part due to the Wily Tower section and the ability to customize your weapons inventory. I don't much care for the arrangement of the music on the Metal Man and Quick Man stages, but I don't have much to gripe about otherwise.
Nowadays, you can play the genesis port of the Nintendo games on a Nintendo system through Nintendo Switch Online! What a time to be alive

I love your videos. They're the perfect length too imo.
Not only Europe 0:19! In Japan was a physical release in 1994! And like US, Australia got it for Sega Channel.
If you play it in Regen you can remove all the slowdown (increase cpu cycles) and use some GG codes for more authentic shooting and movement.
Wow! How can I do that? O.O ~ share with us!
Sure, to remove slowdown:
1. Load the game in Regen.
2. Click tools->overclock m68000->pick a multiple of 8 value. 808 cycles is enough to remove all slowdown.
GG codes:

2. Scroll down to find and check the boxes for the no delay and bullet speed codes, plus anything else you might want.

Holy crap, this is the music from the opening of Abobo's Big Adventure! I hadn't recognized it before!
Another minor thing is that you can't seem to open the menu until all your projectiles are off the screen
This game by itself is making me want the sega genesis mini.
I do feel kinda bad for starting these wars, but glad you all had fun.
Maybe it's because I looked up the boss weaknesses beforehand, but I found the new bosses to be incredibly easy.
"You can beat Mega Man, Mega Man 2, and Mega Man 3 in any order." Hell no, I can't! And I've been trying for years!
Also was released in japan, not just in Europe. Great video!!
Dimitrios Zikos haha yeah

_SLOW_

Great visuals, though!

MegaMan & Bass for Super Nintendo is a japan exclusive unless it’s the gba version here

are you gonna play star fox 2 now that its officially released?
Originally played the pal room. Boy was it slow.
The laggy response times in this version are frustrating.
I recently got the game from a retro gaming con in the form of a reproduction cart.
Yea you def can't shoot as fast in that
I've only played Megaman zero. I completed all four 😎. I'm guessing these ones are similar ish
I couldn't complete the whole game because, at thw time i was playing on a Emulator on the PS2 and i losy my progress on MM3, which i started first
Same thing happened to me, I had beaten MM1 and when I switched to MM2 I noticed that my progress was lost...
I emulated the PAL version before the Japanese version.
It has a mega man 7 look
cool
Megaman's mah bhoii aight there, son! 😘💕🇵🇭
