I've been dealing with uterine fibroids for about 10 years and had my first surgery in 2016, now they're back and even more ferocious than before. The bleeding is frightening. I'm gripped with severe anxiety when I have to leave the house during my period, whether it's for work or an appointment. My entire calendar of life is dictated by my periods, and I'm dressed in full black wherever I go. Getting up from bed in the mornings during my periods is like a fire hydrant gushing water. I have an incontinence sheet by the bedside to catch bleeding gushing down the legs despite how many pads I go to sleep with. It's insane. I avoid eating during this time so I don't have to use the toilet, or to keep my bulging belly down; I've looked 3-4 months pregnant for years due to fibroids and it's changed my whole aesthetic and the way I dress, I'm so self-conscious now sadly.
Second time around and the doctors won't do another myomectomy due to large size of fibroids and much tissue scarring. They say I'd be considered a high risk surgery. MY options are Embolisation or a hysterectomy. I'm desperate for a hysterectomy as I never ever want to bleed again. I'm due another scan this December 3, 2023 by which time I will have to say tell my doctor what route we are taking. I am so scared. I don't have kids nor do I want them, but this feels so final, yet I'm desperate to be healed. PLease pray for me.

Hey 👋🏾 I was just like you a 12 weeks ago. I was considering emobilization until a coworker of mine told she had it done and after a year or two the fibroids found another artery and returned. I had a adominal hysterectomy and although I was so scared it was the best decisions I ever made. I am so happy now pain free no more suffering. I later found out that the fibroids were cancerous. So who knows what could have happened to me if I had continued to let fear stop me from my journey to a better quality of life. I feel alive again. Just do your research and find a doctor who listens to you and that you feel comfortable with.

      @@blackbeauty7537 Hello dear,
thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. I have been looking for this comment to reply to you and so glad I found it today. I had a hysteroscopy exam last Friday and it confirmed my situation has worsened. After the last horribly heavy period this November, I am more than ready to have a hysterectomy. I immediately told the surgeon I would be going for a hysterectomy and have been put on the waiting list. Already, I feel a huge weight off my shoulder and I wait with relief for the day to come. Fibroids are vicious and they keep returning, eventually turning cancerous. My quality of life means so much more to me so I Have chosen that. Thank you again for your encouraging words. I have pinned this video and will come back to your words again. Thank you.

@mrs227 thank you for asking! I'm 5 months post surgery today! It took till 4 months to ALMOST feel normal. I didn't expect such a rough recovery. I still can't do brisk walking and I do experience some random nerve pain but I'm soooo much better than I was when I had adenomyosis. I ended up having severe adenomyosis. But it sucks because I still have endo (which I knew I would because I still have my ovaries) and I still have pretty intense ovulation and bloating. They both don't lasts near as long as they used to so that's good, but I just wish it'd be gone. Guess I have to wait till menopause lol

I had a hysterectomy on 9/11/23. After years of dealing with fibroids, I had a myomectomey in 1998. Thought I was fine. I tried to have a child (no children) and found out I had endometrial hyperplasia along with ademynosis. Nothing worked in terms of treatment, so I opted to do the total hysterectomy. My MD told me there was an abundance of scar tissue covering my fibroids, which were covering my cervix and uterus. I'm hoping and praying my health will improve after this.

Hi. praying everything is going well. Scheduled for a hysterectomy in May. Had a previous myomectomy and have adeno. Did you have to get a vertical cut or did they go thru your old incision. bc my doctor I'd telling me he has to cut me up and down. and I'm terrified of that

      @lavonfleming6116 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@sudanaanderson3708 Hi, I'm doing well now. I'm still healing (due to post-op infections). It is horrible that your MD is talking about a long of a cut. My MD did my procedure laproscopic, I've got 5 holes in my abdomen. I also had adeo, imo if you can please find a female Asian or black MD. I'm not sure where you live, but I was on IG this past Sunday, and there's a black male MD in Chicago who specializes in women's health. Please don't let your MD cut you like that.

He said bc my uterus is large and probably alot of scar tissue sinve I had previous myomectomy. it just doesn't sit well with me that in this new Era of technology this is a thing. Thank you so much for replying I really appreciate it. 🙏🏽

I’m ready, ready to be done with sacrificing my mental and physical with additional pregnancies, 2 cycles a month sometimes, heavy bleeding, excessive pain…I’m looking at how much it could effect me with a positive lupus trait, I feel like the pros outweigh the cons. I’m grateful that my GYN is putting me through the necessary testing to verify that I am a candidate as opposed to just doing the tuba ligation and it making things worse! I had suffered from fibroids and endometriosis for over 15 years. I had 2 myomectomies and 1 uterine embolization procedure within those years and they helped temporarily but the fibroids did come back. I finally had my hysterectomy last December and can say I wish I did it sooner! I feel amazing! My uterus was filled with 32 fibroids and weighed 12lbs! Trusting in God and His power to heal was what brought me through. I wish you well and thanks again for the update!❤

Honestly, with excruciating fibroids right now, I retain fluids so badly I actually go up a shoe size sometimes, so what is a con for some, will be a pro for me once I've had this surgery. The bloating is insane. I also understand the sadness you feel post surgery. Normal surgery comes with post surgical trauma, let alone "female surgery" which can make you feel incomplete as a woman. I felt this during my first fibroid surgery and it plunged me into some depression, but I will be prepared this second time around. I'm already going through pre-menopausal stage, I'm also experiencing pre-diabetic symptoms and mimicked alpha thalassemia symptoms which I never heard of until my doctor told me this from my repeated blood tests. Phew! So much going on!!!! It's been an extremely long road with doctors, but I persisted and wore them down to be taken seriously.

I watched your hysterectomy video before my surgery to get an idea of what to expect, now I'm 4 days post op from a total hysterectomy ( i kept my ovaries also). I had a 20-week uterus that weighed 3.4lbs. They had to open me up via my old c-section scar to remove it. I have noticed an increase in hot flashes but I read that its due to the interruption of blood flow to the ovaries.

I’m 46 and has been dealing with fibroids for many many years. I had an ablation about 2 years ago and suddenly the pain and long periods reappeared. I had a vaginal ultrasound which showed I had so many fibroids they were intertwined and tangled together. It wasn’t even a thought to make the decision for an hysterectomy which is scheduled for October 10th, 2023.
Unfortunately my daughter has endometriosis. She is 29 with no children. She also has Autism. She’s very high functioning, but her pain is beyond what I’ve ever experienced. She has had a procedure to help shrink the one fibroid she has but like myself the painful long periods have returned. They’re trying an approach with a new pill to avoid a hysterectomy due to her age. Watching your videos in search for myself has taught me a lot about her condition as well. I’m so scared for her.
I’m so happy for you to feel free from the pain and get your life back. Thank you for sharing your story. I’ve now gained a better understanding of my daughter’s experience as well as my own. God bless you beautiful!❤

I’m about to go in, in a few weeks for a hysterectomy. I was diagnosed through surgery with endometriosis in ‘18 (had my tubes removed during that time too). I wasn’t afraid then because I always knew something wasn’t right. Now, I’m all over the place mentally (I’m ok without having kids. I’ve been severely let down/ have a huge distrust of medical staff).

@@SimplyShell417 For one, we should be eating in accordance with our blood type. Education regarding this subject is near non-existent. For example, I don’t understand why we still promoting animal milk consumption when we know that the human breastmilk is the only milk humans thrive from.

It's definitely our diet and the hair products like relaxers. Also doctors don't tell black women about alternatives they push hysterectomy. Fibroids are non cancerous and should be removed without taking the uterus. Not being sarcastic but white women are offered alternatives to keep their uterus in tact. They want them to continue to have babies and I wonder why?

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm 40 and have endometriosis and adenomyosis. May I know if your doctor still put you on any HRT medication after the hysterectomy?
