    I’ve been running my reef octopus 110 classic on and off for 9 years now still on the original old style pump. That skimmer never quits!

    The curve is so underrated. I have the standard version and it performs, and it’s ease of use matches my reef octopus.

    Are nano skimmers worth using
    eg for a fluvial flex 32gal

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For small nano system, most of us around here would agree that a skimmer is not worth it and weekly water changes will be the best option. That said, a 32 gallon tanks is getting to that size range where a skimmer may be worth it. It mainly depends on the space you have available and your budget. Adding a skimmer certainly wouldn't hurt.

    That super space saver is a turd with it's wedge valve. Ask me how I know

    • @ThomasBReef
      @ThomasBReef 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've always had a good experience with them, but I agree the wedge design does take some upkeep to keep it smooth turning.

    • @03bugeye
      @03bugeye 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThomasBReef that's my experience. There is a very fine line with a wedge valve and it skims super wet or super dry. I sold it and went with a 110 int and haven't looked back.

    • @gewglesux
      @gewglesux 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@03bugeye 110 int is the one to get then? I don't know if i have that room..

    • @ThomasBReef
      @ThomasBReef 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gewglesux I find them all to be great skimmers, and I personally haven't had any issues tuning any of them, save for any wedge-pipe design usually needing a good scrub once in a while so the wedge pipe keeps being easy to turn. Gate valves are great for sure, but they come with bulk! And gear-driven gates are nice and slim, but usually are on slightly pricier skimmers. All comes down to personal preference and budget!

    • @03bugeye
      @03bugeye 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gewglesux if room permits yes get something with a gate valve, especially if there's no air adjustment, which is essentially all of Reef Octos lower end selections.
