    Great video I’m changing my tank from. Max nano to a 170 and I’m requiring a sump skimmer. I generally use the same brand and Red Sea has always been the best not the cheapest but buy cheap buy twice. Just subscribed look forward to your vids.

    Mine does not make noise but that’s good to know.
    It did dial in pretty fast tho.
    Overflowed twice and was dialed in like 6 hours

    Hi Ryan, sorry for a throwback comment on this but just after some advice! I have an RSK 300 but over the past few weeks/months it’s slowly got a louder hum building. Which is now affecting us in our bedroom above the tank downstairs in the kitchen. It’s not the air intake, nor any of the screws or nuts, it’s purely the droney hum from the unit itself. Any ideas? Or is this a common thing with the RSK’s?

      Really common noise with any AC pumps.

    My Red Sea skimmer 300 is noisy. Enough to be annoying. I had to use firm airline tubing to the air intakes if the silencer to quiten

    Hi there. I just bought the 300 skimmer as a replacement for my broken skimmer. Its very loud and because its in my bedroom its quite bad..., i did tighten the nut and all the screws as far as i could but its still really loud. Do you maybe know why?
    Thanks a lot in advance 😁

      Yeah I'd honestly recommend a DC skimmer, you can choose whatever one, most are near silent but I pref the great white and deltec.

    My tank is in its 5th week of a fishless cycle and I have decided to turn on my skimmer which is the red sea rsk-300. its filling up the collection cup with water. I've set the regulator to its lowest setting and to prevent it over flowing I've opened up the drain valve. Is this the right thing to do to let it settle down and bed in or should I let the skimmer just overflow?

    Hi, do you prefer it over your Nyos quantum skimmer?

    • @PrestigeReef
      @PrestigeReef  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a very good question and if I’m honest it’s hard to compare them because one I’ve had running for ages and the other is still relatively new to me.
      I try to only give a proper opinion once I’ve had time to test things for a period of time which is why this video is more about showing the features I like because it’s easy to give an honest opinion when you have something substantial to base it off of

      If I'm honest they are both about as quiet as each other

      @@olibrayen5577 It has a loud deep vibrating hum - no way it is quiet... I didn't realize how draining/irritating the noise was till I turned it off. Love the features but hate the drone/hum/vibration. I can lift it up and it isn't touching anything just suspended and same noise. Boy does it draw a lot of air and after broke in work great though. Does not keep ORP at 350 as advertised.

    Have the 600 and very quiet no humming etc.... Dc pumps are quieter bit with respect to this psk 1000 nothing out of the ordinary sound wise..way back had some noisy ones like a reef octopus bubble blaster 3000 and 5000. Get rid of the squeegee as ruins the laminar flow you want. Just a selling gimmick.
