John’s Roast Pork is delicious. Cheesesteaks good too. Whatever you want on it they will do that. Just fried onions on mine.
I work with ppl from philly they say poppy stores have best cheese steaks
The papi’s season the steak very well but the quality of beef is trash , they’re good but not even close to being the best. People like them because they cheap.

I'm from Philly. I don't live there anymore, but my son loves Max's. Down Germantown & Erie Ave. But if you are in Center City, go to Taste Cheesesteak. You won't regret it. If the bread is not right, it throws the whole steak off. Good hunting, guys!!!

Glad you stopped by a few of Philly’s heavy hitters. Mayo on a Cheesesteak is a little criminal, but hey you like what you like. I’ll forever be Angelo’s, JRP, and Woodrow’s if I’m feeling something fast. Honorable mention to Cafe Carmela- almost as good as Angelo’s but inconvenient for a South Philly boy

The best of anything, especially food, is subjective. It's funny seeing people argue about who serves the best so and so. Everybody's taste is not the same. Stop arguing and have an open mind. Sometimes regional foods have us pushing something as the best without giving anything else a fair chance.

The best Philly steak is at Leo’s in Folcroft, PA! Mayo and ketchup on the bread, fried onions, mushrooms and peppers and pickles! And cheese no whiz’ and you got to also have a classic hogie with Utz potato chips

Paganos on Ogontz, Dalessandros ,TenderBones in Delaware Cafe Carmela on Holme ave. And by the way it’s called a cheese steak . Fried onions ,mayo on the roll SPK, pickles on the side American Cheese (no yellow jizz. ) Hood traditional.

papi store or hood steaks are the best simply because each steak is individually prepared for you. Fresh steak meat and raw onions are cooked together to give the sandwich a signature taste. Definitely soft rolls and the works like American cheese, mayo, catchup, mustard, pickles, and banana peppers.
Y’all out of towners don’t know that a crusty seeded roll from Sarcone’s bakery is a staple in the south Philadelphia community for sandwiches with long rolls. Allot of sandwich stores use their bread. But it’s obvious you’re not from here. MAX is trash with their overpriced overcooked steak sandwiches 🤦🏾♀️

It’s a cheesesteak when you’re in Philly. A Philly is only when you’re outside of the tri state area. Mayo is not traditional but very popular in Philly.

I dont eat steak, I do chicken cheese steak. You can get the best chicken cheese steak from a pizza shop. Max's and Dalassandro is the absolute worst steaks. They chop the steak too fine. I like my chicken not chopped up too fine .I put ketchup , American cheese salt, pepper and little garlic powder and raw onions and pickles on my chicken cheese steak .

For $140.00, it should be a 5 hands down. I have never been to Philly to experience their Philly cheesesteaks, but I have never had a good one before either each time it's either bland tasting, dry, or the bread tastes awful . The 2nd and the 3rd looked the best.The 4th looked good, but hold the ketchup.

Store bought Frozen pizzas, blue bell ice cream flavors, store bought ice cream, banquet dinners, frozen pot pies, store bought frozen fries, store bought frozen chicken, store bought bacon, store bought kielbasa sausage/ andouille sausage
I passed through Philly first time a few years back. Had a Dalessandros or something. Had a weird taste, probably aged sharp provolone. On the way back through I tried Ginos and Pats. Underwhelmed. Jersey Mikes had a better cheesesteak than all of them.
Jersey Mikes does not have a true cheesesteak. True cheesesteaks do not have lettuce, tomatoes and mayo.

@@wqw888 True cheesesteaks should have onions and cheese. What cheese people choose is up to them, but the only ones I know of that are widely accepted are White American, Provolone or Cheez Wiz. Some can have peppers and less so mushrooms.
My preference is Provolone cheese with onions, green peppers and mushrooms.
