Crazy how narrow and winding tne streets are. I believe 14:07 is the famous grocery store where Jim Morrison used to frequent. Lots of great history there.
I’m really enjoying these for some reason, at 50 odd years old Ive developed a fascination for old LA, I think from TV shows like the Rockford Files and of course movies, and I spent a whole day there once between flights, we caught a bus to Venice and walked about 7 miles. Adelaide where I live has some similarities with a city built on a plain with hills behind and an ocean the sun sets into, even the climate is similar.
Hey Sean, glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you get to visit again and spend more time enjoying LA. Adelaide looks like a beautiful city! One of many places I'd love to visit in Australia! ❤
Yah not a lot of common green space that I noticed. Glad you enjoyed the ride with me! I have another Laurel Canyon drive that I did today and will be posting soon. Thanks for watching!

I've been learning so much while responding to comments, doing my own research and planning out my drives. Laurel Canyon will be a 3 part series. Woodrow Wilson will be in part 3. Wonderland and Lookout Mountain was originally part 1. But the lighting of the day was so bad I'm planning to redo the drive for a better viewing experience. Just waiting for the rain storm to pass. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I'd love to know the street names! Wonderland Dr. is where we hung out back in the mid-sixties. This tour is a bit confusing. Great to see that not much has changed.
All the street names are on here with timestamps. Wonderland drive will be in another video post in a part 2 of Laurel Canyon. I had done the drive last week but due to the horrible lighting of the day I plan to redo the drive for a better viewing experience. Thanks for watching!
At 29:19 that dad with his baby seemed nice and friendly with omv 's brief visit sight seeing visit on his dead end street . Everybody should have their first driver's test on theses streets and be a master at the three point turn and backing up .
As an experienced driver, I had a panic attack when I drove into Laurel Canyon’s narrow twisty roads. I pulled a 17-point turn on Horseshoe Cyn. and got the heck out!
At 36:26, the raw hillside is crumbling into the dirt-covered road, with no retaining walls or ground cover. Next big rain or quake, it’ll give way and block the street. So the taxpayer will be billed many thousands, to fix PRIVATE property, which sensible zoning and covenants could’ve prevented.
Yah they really should put a retaining wall there. All that dirt is from the recent storm we had the week before this video was filmed. Likely the road was temporarily closed off and the city had to come in and clear the road.
I was watching this while knowing they were being hit with a major rainstorm and praying for their safety. Nobody wants to lose their home or belongings, no matter what kind of home you live in. I knew it was storming and I pictured muddy water carrying debri down every street trapping ppl in their homes. After this I watched a news report showed land/mudslides and flooded canyon streets. Drive around today and document the destruction and aftermath.
Yah the storms have been heavy! I've considered driving during the storm but I kept seeing on the news that cars getting stuck at random spots so decided to stay in. It's suppose to rain again tonight.
If this was recorded Feb 5 it kind of proves that most of the houses are in damaged by the storm. The news had my mother thinking that the entire state had to be evacuated.
This video was recorded on the 2nd, right before the majority of the storms. I just did another drive today in Laurel Canyon. I only came across one small section of the road that appeared to have had a mudslide. But most of it was already cleared. I know there are other parts of the Hollywood Hills and Beverly Hills that had mudslides and home damage. But I'm not exactly sure where those are. Thanks for watching!
@Omwvlog the Hollywood hills video, yes I know I should of commented on that one but got side tracked. I find your videos be calming, thank you and lavender latte very nice 👌 maybe showcase some of the more less known places like that cafe, its colourful and calming.

Hi 👋🏻, In my opinion, this is also the most intense video, because most of the time you think: at least there is no oncoming car! 😄 on the other hand, this video has the most panoramic views! ))
That entire sketchy road and its houses, from 18:00 onwards, should never have been allowed to be built. One big earthquake or mudslide, it’ll all just become landfill for the ravine, WAY down below.
It's just never ends, and With the kind of managers had going for the last decade. They're on fertile slopedge grounds of the California hillsides. You Never not see the small contractors all along there speaking Spanish.
Had to google Bellevue. Wow it's beautiful! I think better than the Hollywood Hills lol. I can try to do West Hollywood on a saturday night. But my camera doesn't do well in the dark. I'll see what I can do 😄❤️
Yeah, as intriguing as I find the Hollywood Hills, being bottlenecked through those roads whenever I wanted to go anywhere would probably be a constant source of stress.
What I don't understand about this area are the streets. I live in a small country town in the south and our streets are so much better kept that these. If these are million-dollar houses how come their taxes can't pay for the upkeep of the roads?
Not true. Many of these cliffside houses on tiny lots have no garages or driveways, and some only have a dedicated parking space on the opposite side of the street! (See the Gould Ave. section in particular.) Don’t discount the possibility that many of these people are old hippies with houses that have been paid off for decades, who truly are only middle-class.
Thanks for driving so we don’t have to. So much better than Google street view. You’re very polite pulling over for tailgaters. I do that too. I hate people who ride my donkey
The terrain beneath these narrow Hollywood Hills streets is always shifting, I don't really see any pot holes per say. Concrete will severely crack on these hilly roads. Because of this, these pliable asphalt covered streets will always exhibit stress even if just fairly recently resurfaced. Some of these streets, at least in the older tracts, are a hundred years old.
Some of the roads in Laurel Canyon are “withdrawn”, meaning LADOT will not repave them in any circumstances! With some of these narrow cul-de-sacs, I can’t imagine how they even could repave them without stranding people in their houses.
Welcome to California. We pay among the highest fuel taxes and taxes in general compared to most of the rest of the country, yet our roads and infrastructure is terrible.
