James IV was Scotland's most important monarch, in my opinion. A lover of art and architecture, and a real European monarch - a proper renaissance man. Too bad that he was poor at battle.
There was an event a few years back at Linlithgow Palace celebrating the anniversary of his marriage to Margaret Tudor. They had jousting and that poetry competition thing where the competitors try to come up with the best insult for their opponent - it was excellent. They've now started doing it every year, and it's well worth a visit.

Almost made it to Berwick-on-Tweed but it was getting dark and I chickened out. Had to get back to Kirkleston. Driving in Scotland for only a week at that point. • @3xt1Collatz

King James IV is my 15th Great Grandfather. Jeanette Stuart was my 14th Great Grandmother. She was his illegitimate daughter. But she was legitimized by Marry Queen of Scot’s later on so Jeanette was made a legitimate princess. She later went on and became a mistress to Henri II King of France. She had a son with him. I grew up in Florence Kentucky in the U.S I didn’t know all this till last night I’ve been doing my Ancestry.com I seen Princess Jeanette I thought maybe it was a small monarchy in GB then I kept going on and found King James IV. 😲😲😲

😄😄No, I meant the Scottish family. I just noticed there's a string of genealogists developing that I hadn't noticed. For some reason your comment popped to the surface. It's nice to see folk making connections

Not sure I understand the question. You may be talking about the King James bible, That was VI, but the bible had been translated into English before that as well.

@@moteeisrael3885 He was white. Seriously. If he were black, it would have shown up in his descendants, it did not. On top of that, Britain was pretty damned white at the time and pretty well picky about those things.
James IVs descendants are white, except for when descendants have mixed with blacks (he is my many greats grandfather twice over and a cousin too). A lot of this hubbub is based on the fact that he looks black in a couple paintings.
      1. It is likely that the painter of said portaits never even laid eyes on King James. Also, propaganda was a big thing so making a painting of him looking black would have made those who saw it question his suitability for the throne (because sadly people thought like that).
If you want to talk of the super curly hair it is a very very common trait in Scotland. Also, the skin tone of paintings do deriorate over time due to dust and dirt etc, so the skin tone can look darker than it originally was, if the painting is restored the lighter skin tone may show. So, No James VI was not black.
If you want to say he was Moorish, moorish is not black, it is middle eastern, Arabic. I know many historians who want to make all historical figures black like to ignore that middle eastern/Arabic people exist which is a shame steals the history of a great people. There are pleanty of great black people in history, who ARE black (see Saint Nicholas), I don't understand why people are trying to make people who are white black all of a sudden.
