In a world of increasing ignorance, your offering of poetry so carefully and generously read, is deeply appreciated.

Thank you for this lovely gentle reading from Leaves of Grass. Your motivation for reading these excerpts which focus on the body is very honest. So often people who are sensitive or empathic retreat from the world and do not fully live in their bodies. You remind your audience to be full human beings - to not exist solely in the mind or spirit - we must also fully inhabit our bodies.
It's been a long time since I last read it as an undergrad. I always imagined Whitman as an exuberant wild man who lived life passionately (as poser Thoreau pretended to live at Walden Pond) and shouted praises of what was beautiful and stirred his soul and hurled criticisms at injustices. He genuinely celebrated humanity. In your reading of it, listening closely to the words again, Whitman's descriptions of nature reminded me of Vincent Van Gogh's writings to his brother describing how he saw the natural world and his use of color.
Finally, do you remember the TV series Northern Exposure? They did an episode with a subplot about Whitman. Chris Stevens read Whitman on the radio station and discussed Whitman's personal life, which offended the station's owner, and resulted in Chris being fired as DJ.

Yes to everything you said. Whitman was very unique in so many ways. I remember Northern Exposure! It’s surprising how little has changed socially since that show was on. And yet there have always been people like Whitman who have been saying something different and important. Thank you for your thoughtful comment 🙏🏻🩵

You spoke of preferring disconnection… which spoke to me. And it’s also relatable about taking the step, to explore and connect, if only to one’s self. I feel you. Thank you

I suppose this is an answer to the recent result of american elections. There was a lot of beauty once in America. And Walt Whitman described it as no one else. Thank you for your sensitivity and the love for your Country, I guess. This poem is pure meditation. I adjust my breath immediatly listening to your voice.

Without knowing when this was recorded, I think Whitman's work is an extremely insightful choice to share for a lot of your American listeners right now.

Walt is a true American pioneer. So unfortunate that his works are so often censored, or only selectively permitted to be taught and understood. We often hear excerpts from verses like "O Captain! My Captain!" but it remains controversial to acknowledge Walt's broader expression for universal human connection and fraternal love that transcends gender.

Beautifully written. I suppose he's even ahead of our current times, at least in the US.

@@ASMR-healing You are tragically correct. It's going to be a very dark time for literary arts going forward.

Poetry that doesn't rhyme is utter shite. But you delivered it beautifully. Well done.
