Also, if you're not aware, both lenses are fixed. All zooming is done digitally (1x to 4x main lense, then 7x to 28x telephoto lense - only 1x and 7x are optical)
The jump at 4x to 7x is when it switches lenses (they supposedly want to fix this with firmware - without going to 7x digital on main lense, I dont see how)

I agree, however my wife hates Dustin I've purchased three drones because of his tests.. LOL
The bad thing about that first tablet adapter is that it covers the antennas, which might limit the range. Just a thought!

Even though I'm completely satisfied owning my DJI mini 2 and air2s this little beast looks so sexy and futuristic I'm tempted to sell those two to get this one, hum, what to do, what to do!

Wow Dustin! What a thorough review! My Mavic 3 is still in the box and waiting on a few items to get started. I do have a question about updates. Do you have to conduct an update for each new battery ( in the fly more combo) when the battery is used for the first time? I believe I had to run the update on all three batteries on the Mavic 2 Pro (based on someones review).

Glad you bought one! Looking forward to your range tests. Regarding spring loaded batteries: so if a mechanical catch fails, we can be sure our battery WILL disconnect and the drone will crash? Not sure about the logic of that.
My thought exactly. Also the catches on this feel much less solidly engaged than my Autel Evo 2 Pro. Autel says is patented "bat-lock" but it just engages with bigger tabs. Down side is you sometimes have to fight with the squeeze tabs tobget the buggers out! I find with M3 giving it a good bump with the heel of your hand makes the batteries click in better. You're almost certainly right, we WILL see batteries ejecting when the drone takes a bump or maybe just while flying.

Another sound review, Dustin have you come across any tablet mount for the M2P remote control (RC1B) which makes use of the half inch recess next to the left joystick storage space, I was told it was for further stability.

As an owner of an Air 2s, is more than enough camera for a hobbyist pilot but the Mavic 3 is amazing!
Yes I agree the air2s is just amazing I am so satisfied with mine I would never dream of purchasing this $2,000 beast. however, it is beautiful!

I think the main camera is 1x to 4x then the zoom camera is 7x to 28x

The "skip" in the "zoom" is because it's switching from the wide lens to the telephoto lens.
So 1x and 7x is the optical lenses, anything from 2-4x, and anything from 8-28x is digital.
Just a correction but they are actually still using lipo batteries. It says on the top line of text 14:43
I guess we don't have to worry so much about the battery since it's not LiPos. Can we store it fully charged like the Mini 1 batteries and not damage them?
Yes, they auto discharge to storage voltage if not used 🍻

Always a great unboxing. Supposedly I read that you cannot pan the camera independently by holding and pressing the screen like most of the other models. If that's true especially for the money that you're paying it's quite disappointing. Looking forward to the range test.

Love your videos, don't think it's worth it for the price. Going to stick with the air 2s as it seems to look better in normal mode and I barely use the zoom

The people who can afford these r something else. I uave a mini 2 and just sold my old spark. I want a air 2 and even with that I uave to make payments. I can do payments on the mavic 3 but that would put my family in such a huge tight

The zoom is 7 x optical then digital after 7 x upto 28 x zoom but as you said it awesome and the fancy features that the air 2 s has is coming out sometime in January 2022 for the mavic 3 but bet your bottom dollar if they are make you wait it’s going to be awesome & it flight time is 46 minutes but realistically a few new owners reporting upto 42 minutes

The batteries are actually Lithium Ion Polymer, wich is actually the full name of Lipo batteries. They are not cylindrical Lithium Ion cells.

Forget the drone, I want that bag. 😂 That looks like a great drone, but a little out of my budget. I got the FPV when the price came down a little and love it, so with that and the Air 2 I'm set for drones for a while. Very good and thorough overview though and I look forward to seeing the flight and range tests. 👍
My only negative about those drones is the controler. look so old fashion. i would prefer somehing little bit bugger that that... we old love the Parrot drones controllers ) keep up the good work

Isn't the switching image when zooming in due to the drone switching from the regular camera to the zoom camera?

Seems DJI did a good job at dropping some weight to help with flight time and added stability. I'm digging the frog like angles on the sensors also. Still the best drone pound for pound on the market.
Hit "Confirm" instead of "Cancel" when skipping DJI Care Refresh, that should dismiss the screen!

Meh I'll pass. I much prefer the control layout on my M2Zoom for camera control. Plus not relying so much on the added device makes me feel more comfortable.
You get what you pay for with dji . You buy dji you pay a premium, but you get the best . Autel comes close but still falls just a smidge short . Jmo
You mention calibrating the IMU and then compass in the field. I’m wondering if things have changed regarding this since the Mavic 1. I had read many times, no reason to do either unless you are actually prompted (or I assume if you visually see issues). I never had to with my 1 (and I was all over) I am wondering if things have changed with regards to this with the 3 and they are now recommending to do this regularly?
Not entirely necessary unless you are having issues but for precision sake I'd recommend a compass cal before first flight away from interference to be safe 🍻

One thing I don't like, coming from the M2Z/P and before that the MPP is the controller. No second wheel dedicated to zoom/EV and no programmable buttons on the back, no 5D button seriously cuts down on the functionality. If only they'd stuck with the older style; I don't see anything wrong with those other than less battery capacity.
I don't like the older DJI remotes at all, I hate the way the phone slides in underneath.
@@daleadmire1451 Easy to get adapters if you need. What's not easy to fix is the lack of controls on this newer one. You're missing 7 buttons and a wheel.
