Stick sensitivity can be adjusted to change the drones reaction is a great feature. I'm interested in the Obstacle Avoidance. The new battery power efficiency for distance flying looks great. Thanks for reviewing the new FIMI because I am enjoying the FIMI X8 SE 2022 V2.
I enjoy how thorough and easy to follow your unboxing and setting up the drone video is! I have the original X8 2020 and it is a good learning drone for me....thinking about this one as a bit more advanced, but still in a price range that is affordable for the future needs I anticipate.
Got mine to weeks ago love it, my dad id a dji guy and he has the new mavric 3 pro witch is crazy buy he loves the X8 pro and the TX10 witch if you ask me its a must have to go along with the pro version but all in all I got the full package it came to $857 and was worth every dime
Nice review as usual! Timely as well, I ordered the X8 Pro March 3 from the “fimi store”, hmm, still waiting. At least now I can enjoy it vicariously with your review. Looking forward to the flight tests. Hopefully, Fimi will solidify its market for these based on the interest shown by honest reviews. As it is, I am a little skeptical when I see how the batteries seem to be less available, (the “plus” version being non-existent) and the inconsistent web site advertising, e.g., 40/47/w plus battery minute flight time vs 30 minutes hover time, or the eb** sellers reference to X8 Pro w/ TX10 , (should be TX0A, and it is an add on). Quite a few of the more expensive drones competing with the mainstream players seem to drop out. At least Fimi has been consistently upgrading the X8 for several years now.
Hey Dustin, I hope I'm not being a pest, but I want to know if you recommend this drone for a user that does not use this for business, and just want an Affordable drone that has great battery life, distance capabilities, and FPV connectivity for the distance advertised, reliability of the features you mention. Long story short, is it worth it?
Good Video Dustin. Are you going to put out PART 2 with a range test on this one? I watched the SAR video and as usual it was very informing. Is there a Part 2 in the near future?
Hey dustin ... I'm going to give you a little help for you're next time loosing you're drone.. dont turn off you controller! First off leave it on most of all...!!! Then when you get to the area that gps says its at, there is a button that you can bring up that you can tell the drone to start beeping and flashing... you should be able to find it in that area that way.. won't work if the battery is dead but might help you NEXT time..!!??
Hello, I would like to know if there is a patch, software update, or another application from FIMI that can maximise the range of the "tap fly " and "waypoint fly" modes from 1000 meters to the drone's maximum range of 15km. Cheers!
Of course they have to reduce capacity when they put 4 lipo packs in the same space as 3 lipo packs as in the old version. Energy wise they do get a little more from the new battery. 58 Wh vs 51 Wh. More energy and still reduced flight time? I doubt sensors and more advanced camera consume that much energy. Probably a more honest specification than in the old version.
Energy density also depends on new vs old battery tech but I get your points. Until we see new solid state battery tech in these consumer drones it'll likely be the same or very similar weight to power ratio dance 🍻
It seems to me that the obstacle ovoidance while I was trying mine out that it seems as it's trying to work itself away from the obstacle albeit very slowly but I've just tried mine today and I've just noticed this... Also it doesn't have side sensors but while moving it left and having an obstacle to its left why did it move very slowly and stop? Did it see before without me knowing.. That was weird to me.. But bringing it close to myself it was slowly rising until it cleared.. It's not what I thought it was capable of and Ive only ever had one drone with obstacle avoidance the autel mini plus.. The props on this are great and will be an asset on the v2 model as there thicker and stronger...!!
Hi I’m looking to purchase a dji mini 3 pro weight isn’t a problem in my country which would you think is a better buy this new fimi or the mini 3 pro please?
It’s a shame FIMI X8 (2024) doesn’t have a controller with a built in screen like DJI as it seems there too scared to upgrade or just don’t want to spend dollars so then they can be up there with them, the big boys so to speak ! What’s your thoughts on what I have said. I’m not being negative as it really looks a nice drone & pretty good quality. I’ve had their first mini drone the release back a. While ago. Is it better than the current FIMI mini. David Perth Western Australia.
Hello guys I have a quick question. I just bought an X8 pro and I noticed that when i leave it on the table with the battery on, it gets too hot very quickly, especially the metal part in the belly. Is that normal?
My 2022 v1 has remote id I can’t imagine that Fimi didn’t add it to the new pro ….according to the app you just turn it on …even in the NAVI 3.0 …interesting
"I used the 'DROP' feature to drop an 8 cell energizer lithium metal AA battery pack that I "hot-wired" into the battery circuit. Got 1.20 hours flight time at 14 miles out!!!!*
6:30 - I don't think the direct WiFi connection to a phone ever worked, does it now ? Anyway, thanks for the review, brings back memories of my X8 2020, not a bad drone and a good flyer actually but it stumbled when it came to video/photo quality, the connection was poor with obstacles, the tracking was terrible, no panos....so yes a good flyer and not much else ;-)
I was really liking what I was seeing till you got to the removable controller sticks! This seems to be a new things that the drone makers are moving to, but I don't like it at all! Just something else to loose in the grass! I leave them in. Of course, this is from China to!
Since it does not have a C1 classification it's illegal to put on sale in Europe/EASA anyway. Only dji seems to bother with this for the consumer market, so it's dji or dji, or nothing...
@@w.e.s. They don’t ship out charging blocks since the iPhone 12 back in 2020. The USB C law came into force this year and was agreed upon in 2022. That they don’t ship charging bricks has nothing to do with it and is just capitalist greed.
I really have a problem with this review! These drones aren't the same as what you and I would receive if we bought one. These drones are hand-picked by the engineers and management of their respective companies. In some cases the drones sent to reviewers have higher quality components or special modifications to improve their performance compared to a drone purchased from retail stock. To be clear, my issue isn't with the reviewer. I take issue with the deceptive "bait and switch" tactics employed by the manufacturers. I own a FIMI X8 Pro which I purchased in early February 2024. I have had multiple problems with this drone and I'm not alone. I have spoke with over a dozen U.S. X8 Pro owners who all are having camera/image issues. Fimi either has a poor quality control system in place or they made the decision to sell drones they knew had defects. I also own a FIMI X8 2022SE V2 which works correctly and I think that FIMI rushed the X8 Pro to market while it was still in the "beta" stage of product development. Many Chinese companies take advantage of the fact that shipping a package back to China is tricky and expensive. These manufacturers know that a majority of people won't bother with the trouble and expense of returning the drone. It was going to cost me about $75. On top of that you are completely at the mercy of the honesty of the company and technicians who will evaluate the device. If they determine the problem was caused by the consumer or shipping company, then you either have to spend more money to repair your drone and you have to pay for shipping back to you. This type of review is useful for seeing the drone and it's features but I only trust reviews by people who spent their money on a product. This type of review is basically a long commercial.
When you said "long commercial" I took it as a jab at the reviewer even when you say you're not 😂 Fimi (Xiaomi) is known for affordability & not up to DJI quality (you usually get what you pay for). To make the conclusion they are hand picked is quite conspiratorial. Buy from Amazon or eBay with Paypal and you are covered. I'm not sure where you are buying from but you need to get with the times. Even if they did make sure a product was working correctly for a reviewer, I wouldn't hold that against them. A smart company would do that since my reviews are honest. Now if they are purposely sending defective units from China as you say...well here we go with conspiracy theories 🍻
Please note that the FIMI TX10, TX10A, the FIMI X8 SE 2022 V2, and the FIMI X8 PRO are all out of compliance. They claim that it has and support REMOTE ID but it doesn't. As we know Federal Law requires that UAV pilots must have this Feature. However, FIMI drones are not recognized by the FAA, nor are you able to register the drone in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA as having REMOTE ID. Please don't get caught flying this heavy drone without registration. This can cost you anywhere from $1000.00 to $100,000.00 fine or time in jail depending on the nature of your violation. Fimi has lied to us all. This is extremely disappointing. Total dishonesty and false advertising. You can buy and fly at your own risk.

I'm thinking even only 3 way avoidance over none on 2022, is pretty big upgrade. Much bigger camera sensor (thou still pretty small) should also be quite an improvement.
