@@A_Lovely_Fat_Little_Baby It is quite a solid phone. Cameras are for the most part consistent between the cameras and between shots. But it sometimes does overexpose shots. Main camera is good. The different focal length sensor crop options are well processed but not drastically better than other phones. Telephoto camera is really good for macro and portrait photos. Longer zooms (10x or more) look sharp at a glance, but when zoomed in you can see the very heavy processing. Ultrawide is above average (better than iPhone 15 and Honor Magic 5 Pro) but I wished they used a bigger sensor. Battery is quite good, but the camera does drain the battery relatively fast. Other than that, it's the standard Vivo experience. HDR look for photos, solid night mode, Funtouch OS (it does feel abit dated), loud speakers, good haptics, top heavy phone. Hopefully software updates will improve the occasional overexposure and the heavy processing of longer range zooms. But overall it's the best camera experience I've had on a phone by quite a distance.
Based on your early comparisons it seems like you can't go wrong with either. This makes me feel good because I bought the ultra and I am waiting for the Pro + vivo. Thanks for another great video.
@@yongkysiaw6597 No, it also depends on what zoom you prefer. For example Oppo has 2 EXCELLENT zoom options. I think Oppo is the perfectly balanced one, 3x means AMAZING portraits at a VERY nice distance.

Despite Oppo having two hardware advantages over Vivo such as using a Snapdragon ISP and a newer version of the Sony 1" IMX989 (LTY900), Vivo still comes out ahead/on-par in 1x photos which is surprising. Both phones are still new, so it's not like one has had 1 year's worth of optimizations and firmware updates over the other. It looks like Vivo has better image processing thanks to their custom V3 chip and improved Zeiss T* coating which is making an all-round noticeable difference - your previous comments about them being the king of HDR still hold true. It's also approx $200 cheaper to import at the moment and most reviewers report longer battery life on it, plus I prefer the smoother zoom transitions on the Vivo across both photos and videos.

I think I'd pick the Oppo, just because of the 2 periscope lens. And though I agree that the Vivo does seem to do better in longer zooms, I only take photos at the "pure" optical level of the phone's cameras, and don't prefer any digital enhancement done when zooming farther than that Great review as always Ben thanks!

I would go with the Vivo. I think their software optimizations are better than Oppo's camera wise. Other than that, imagine this is the pro version. The x100 pro plus will be their main flagship this year. Out soon.

2:00 so I had concluded that the oppo find X7 was going to be my new camera phone until I saw this shot..VIVO is not playing with their filter and overall composition. It is actually very difficult to choose between these two juggernauts

With the X80 Pro, I took the plunge, and even today, this model can easily compete with the latest iPhone (or anything from Samsung) - not only in terms of the camera. After this review I feel that Vivo x100 pro has some important pros! 1. Comes with Google services while oppo is not. This is important for me as I am going to live in Europe soon. 2. There are less lenses but Vivo keeps up with good computational photography in digital zoom. 3. Larger battery capacity in the same weight. I didn't see any test on battery life but I guess that could easily give couple of minutes more battery life. The oppo seems to have: 1. better screen quality 2. Additional physical lens 3. 4K selfie video ( for me is not important) 4. Gorilla glass victus ( vivo seems to have no screen protection -please correct me if I am wrong-) 5. A bit of extra zoom

The images captured by Vivo are warmer and much organic. This competition is like Canon(Vivo) vs Sony(Oppo). It seems that the Zeiss len does help Vivo to render accurate images

Vivo has the more power separate image processing chip wich even with less hardware still has bit more to it

Both devices are awesome and I’m definitely hoping they’re coming to the west. Regardless of which device is purchased, the money goes to the same parent company; ie BBK. Thus there’s absolutely no need for bias. I appreciate your reviews and I’ve never perceived any bias on your part. Personally I really want that Find X 7Pro. That design is beeyootiful. 💕💯
Does the Global version X100 camera operate exactly the same as the Chinese version? Or are there differences ?

2:00 so I had concluded that the oppo find X7 was going to be my new camera phone until I saw this shot..VIVO is not playing with their filter and overall composition. It is actually very difficult to choose between these two juggernauts
The bokeh adjustment is also quite useful for creative shots

Because of you, I not only became a big Vivo fanboy, but it's thanks to you that I got to know Vivo in the first place! With the X80 Pro, I took the plunge, and even today, this model can easily compete with the latest iPhone (or anything from Samsung) - not only in terms of the camera. Rarely have I come across less biased and such high-quality reviews as yours. So, a big thank you for your work. Keep it up!
By the way: A direct comparison of these two devices in terms of software, display, and overall performance (aside from the camera) would also be very desirable. Especially the X7's display seems to be a bit better... Thank you ;)

Between the oppo find x7 ultra, vivo x100 pro and honor magic6 pro, which one do you recommend giving priority to the camera?

I am also in Hong Kong and I was looking to take one of those 2 excellent phones.
After this review I feel that Vivo x100 pro has some important pros!
1. Comes with Google services while oppo is not. This is important for me as I am going to live in Europe soon.
2. There are less lenses but Vivo keeps up with good computational photography in digital zoom.
3. Larger battery capacity in the same weight. I didn't see any test on battery life but I guess that could easily give couple of minutes more battery life.
The oppo seems to have:
1. better screen quality
2. Additional physical lens
3. 4K selfie video ( for me is not important)
4. Gorilla glass victus ( vivo seems to have no screen protection -please correct me if I am wrong-)
5. A bit of extra zoom
I'm a vivid fan. You speak based on facts and justification by doing actual tests with unbiased opinion.
I have been following for a while, you are definitely not bias against Vivo. I bought my Vivo X90 Pro Plus based on yours and few others reviews.

Both are great photography phones. But Vivo X100 Pro wins for me. Front cam could have been better though, Oppo Find x7 Ultra wins it.

Hi Ben, thanks again for a detailed and in-depth examination of two excellent mobiles. I always wait for your reviews before committing myself to a purchase as I consider them the most accurate on TH-cam. The only fly in the ointment for me, is that neither of these two mobiles is likely to be on sale in the UK. Anyway much respect for the work and effort you put in.

Bravo Ben! Always thorough camwera comparison by you! Some people just can't help themselves but rant... It's surely interesting to see whether or not the camera of the Oppo can improve in 1 or 2 months.
The images captured by Vivo are warmer and much organic. This competition is like Canon(Vivo) vs Sony(Oppo). It seems that the Zeiss len does help Vivo to render accurate images
