Just a small suggestion, during normal comparison, it would be much better if you arrange the phones in fix places, like x100 pro on far left, x100 ultra in middle and oppo x7 on the right consistently. Otherwise, if you switch photo placement randomly, like you did in this video, it's hard to follow for the viewer as the viewer has to assess the photos and read the photo label in a very short time. Thanks for the suggestion, I always place the photos like that in the past videos, but this time bc i used a software to zoom in and out the photos and the photos are not always fixed in that software and i have to adjust based on that, next time i will try to place them in fixed places :D

It's not all about the cameras, Sami: X100 Ultra has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, a higher resolution screen, better dual stereo speakers, a bigger Si/C battery, better hardware for cameras and IP69/IP68 dust/water resistance. It's definitely an upgrade compared to X100 pro, although it doesn't hold on well against the Oppo Find X7 Ultra, especially for the difference in the price tag... Nonetheless, an excellent comparison, thank you! P.S. I would have also liked some macro shot comparisons between the phones you have used in your video.
Yes, I like that "ultrasonic fingerprint" as well as I mentioned at 2:40. Actually the x100 Ultra is not a bad handset, it's just too late, too much hype... and doesn't deliver much at the moment :((((

Thanks for the detailed comparison Sami! I've been using Oppo Find X7 Ultra for over 3 months now (16/512GB - black) and I must say this is by far the best smartphone I've ever had. Photo performance is top notch (I'm mostly taking photos of my kids and started printing them to albums - they look perfect as they were done on professional camera). The level of details/color/shadow/noise reduction balance is superbly optimised and the end result is a natural looking image (as from a normal camera). 25MP mode in newest update is also great. I though all that marketing press release notes about Oppo's collaboration with Hasselblad in terms of software tuning are a bunch of BS, but now after seeing the actual results, man, they've created something truly stunning. Video performance can use a bit of a boost (I've noticed some FPS slowdowns in 60FPS mode shooting, but I need to investigate this further). But as an overall package (build quality, design, fast charging, chipset performance, cameras), this phone is tough to beat. If Oppo continues like this, my next phone will be Oppo again.
@@Kim_Jong_Un_. For me, 1.5 to 2 days (I'm not a heavy user and no gaming on a phone). Fast charging is blazing fast. I haven't noticed any signifcant heat up. On charging, a charger heats up to a certain extent, but I can not say the same for the phone.

I think that could be done theoretically, but not sure if vivo willing to do that lol, after all, those new features are selling points for its Ultra :DD
Finally, by being patient, in 3 or 4 months, the price of the X100 Pro or Ultra will undoubtedly be much cheaper than now, it is probably worth the wait because clearly, Vivo's most prestigious model is not clearly not up to par.
I'm sticking with my s24 ultra for now. It takes great pics n vids. There will always be better phone cameras every year. I don't have the money to upgrade every year a better phone comes out 😂
Fantastic comparative review. I agree with you that the x100 ultra needs some tuning and that's consistent across the board. I myself am using the Xiaomi 14 ultra with a modified camera app to properly remove the automatic beauty mode in portrait and dial back the aggressive smoothing and it makes a world of difference. That being said though you can't go wrong with either device

Sry man, impossible to watch this video because of fast and constant frame zooming, moving and shaking. Also you constantly changing the place of the photo - one shot Ultra is in the middle, next one it's on the left and next one it's back to the middle again.

If possible, can you help me decide for this? my top picks would be vivo x100 pro (budget wise), oppo x7 ultra (budget wise) and maybe xiaomi 14 ultra (for a bit extended budget incase its really good). I understand the comparison between this generations mobile devices, but some of us don't have this generations mobile device, we're looking to upgrade from last generation or even previous. Would you say the upgrade is worth it if you're coming from the X90 Pro Plus?
i'm coming and i say yes just for the sake of battery life which is a clear improvement . i'm at 50% battery at the end of the day now where on x90 pro+ i'd have max 30% left ultra wide is the same, main camera is slightly better if you pixel peek and takes photos faster in low light(like 1 sec vs instant in some cases) , the zoom camera is the biggest upgrade especially if the light is lower and the macro shots are wow. It can now support 4k 60fps with HDR where x90 pro+ has hdr only on 4k 30 fps, the cinematic video now supports 4k too not only full hd and you can change focus on post. I like the HD portrait shot as well, very high details . Speakers are slightly better. What I'm disappointed is the small fingerprint sensor, so far it looks that is working good is just regular size now which is sad. The charging can now be set to slower so i don't have to use a separate charger like before and just fast charge when i rarely need to preserve battery health but I don't understand why they don't add an option to limit the charging to 85%. I'm keeping my eyes on idle drain now since x90 pro+ had insane idle battery drain, had just 2% last night but with sleep mode enabled, will test with it disabled now, x90 pro+ had 8-10% battery drain over night. Everything else is pretty much the same, the main reason i upgraded was the much bigger battery since i was disappointed with battery life of x90 pro+ otherwise I would have waited for the next year flagship.
@@adyady3099 I really love being able to separate my fingerprint sensor so one side loads straight into the camera app, is this not possible on the X100U? I primarily bought the X90PP for mobile photography and wanted the best, so in terms of photography the telephoto sounds like a hell of an improvement over the X90PP. @@TerribleGamersTrio obviously those features are gone since the fp is small but you can quick enter the camera by holding the volume down button idle battery drain is sadly still here, i lose 8% per night with sleep optimization disabled which is crazy high, for people using their phones 2-3 hours per day the idle drain will consume the battery without doing anything but for someone like me who uses it 5-6 hours per day i'm not too much affected but is still sad, could have get 1 extra hour of screentime with better idle as comparison iphone loses 1% over night and samsung 2-3% so the battery acts more like 5000mAh because of the drain which some say is chinese spyware, other say that is a cheap modem. I usually charge it up to 85% and after 24 hours i'm around 20% with 5-6 hours of screen time which is good but could have been better.

I use a Galaxy S Ultra, and I think I'll continue to use a Galaxy S Ultra in the future, but the Oppo Find X7 Ultra is clearly the best camera phone of 2023-2024.
Awesome review Sami. I think the Oppo is by far the best pound for pound ultra phone released this year, possibly ever. The amount of optimizations and improvements they are introducing is incredible, theres another new firmware released which further improves the long range zoom too! Plus the portraits are a generation ahead of all other phones

Oppo clearly has the better video lowlight. But Vivo has the best camera for photography in lowlight. And if you look for consistent , i think vivo did the best in all lenses. Yes the Oppo did the zoom better beyond 10x but no one will use the zoom up to that point.. one thing that oppo did better than vivo is video at night. But for photography at night? Does it beat vivo ? I dont think so. especially the X100 Pro is still the best phone for photography
If you own a Vivo X90 Pro Plus, then the Ultra should be a nice upgrade regardless. If you have a Vivo X100 Pro, you're better off waiting for the Vivo X200 Pro being relreased in November 2024 with the next gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 4/Dimensity 9400 as it's not that far away.
The X100 Ultra is better than the Pro version imho. The X100 Pro is oversharpening making scenes look slightly unnatural. The Ultra strikes a nice balance. All great cameras though.

in the videos i would say X100 Ultra was the best, it lost out in front video because it has bad stabilization in daylight and worst HDR During nighttime it always had mode details, in 1x and zoom, tho Oppo had better HDR in 1x In all other video tests Vivo had more detail and smoother stabilization
very interesting results, seems like x100 ultra can either shine or get blurry 50% of the time tho most of the time X100 Ultra made a blurry zoom shot, but at 11:50 it shined (this pic shows the power of 200mpx) you can see the black parts that are inside of the letters So my conclusion is this: Currently X100 Ultra is not a fully optimized device, thought it shows its hardware is the best on the market for now, it struggles in some situations, seems like its anti shake or some other algorithm cant keep up and makes a blurry photo, but the megapixel count always helps, i always found its pictures in this comparison to look natural- the dynamic range, more natural detail (tho not that noticeable). On the high zoom levels you always get some blurriness and haziness even with DSLR But it hasn't been fully optimized like the X100 Pro And i have to say X7 Ultra is a great phone also, very good and consistent results
Good smartphone, but released too late, and above all, it is not really better than the Vivo X100 Pro or the Oppo Find X7 Ultra which currently cost less than it, without even mentioning the fact that smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be released in 3 months at most. Ps: without forgetting that we went from an X90 Pro+ which managed to maintain more than 95% performance in stress tests and gaming, to this series of Vivo X100 which barely maintains 60% performance, losing in the process the super 3D Sonic fingerprint sensor from Qualcomm 😮💨
nah i wouldnt name the best the x7 because it has less light because at night its terrible so much noise kes detail yess you can see a sing but its the same that lowering de iso in a older mobile and saying its better when you cant see nothing xd but the 3x tele is good
For now x100 ultra is not worth the upgrade from x100 pro, oppo sometimes does better in detail in daylight but vivo is unbeatable at night especially when without light

Thanks for honest review, plenty of people are trying to convince rest that X100 Ultra is so great, but truly I don't see that difference worth paying so much more, the only thing I regret in chinese X100 Pro is that there is no B20 LTE frequency for Europe if it was available ( I don't want global rom ), then I'd go for X100 Pro and I think from past reviews that X7 Ultra is loosing in photos overal with Vivo.

I think that all the flagship phones of 2024 are equal in terms of UWide ans Wide photo quality, it's just a preference of style or affinity with the brand. Where Vivo is strong is the use of this sensor which relaunches the situation in nighttime mid/long zooms by capturing more details and possibly more light... but weird... even if your review is viewed on my big screen the difference is not felt compared to its predecessor and Oppo. X100U will have to learn his skills with the next generation of competitors, which will become complicated... but Vivo have thrown a spanner in the works. The technological battle in terms of photos/videos zoom on smartphones promises us a bright future. Who knows in a few decades or maybe before there will be only one sensor for all distance ranges (macro to long range zoom) but then we would reach the physical limits in a smartphone... but the human imagination is limitless ---> Quantum :D Your reviews are always interesting with a unique style.

To be honest, I never realized I need to worry about the battery life of these phones... and all of them have really fast charging

hi bro Great work on your videos! highly appreciated it! If possible, can you help me decide for this? my top picks would be vivo x100 pro (budget wise), oppo x7 ultra (budget wise) and maybe xiaomi 14 ultra (for a bit extended budget incase its really good). My main focus would be cinematic/movie mode video recordings for our live band gigs which have a bit of low light scenarios with a bit of spotlights or lights pointed out to the main subject (live band). Which would be better choice for this incase? hope you can help me out bro. I wanted an android phone that can match the smoothness of iphone 14 or 15 on video cinematics and so far in the videos ive seen, the stable one that can match iphone cinematics smoothness would be samsung 24 ultra. Photography wise, i would accept any of the three since im happy with their photography testings so far. :D thanks bro!

I'm having an issue with my Vivo X100 Ultra. When I take pictures using the high resolution mode, the pictures get bigger but less datailed than the pictures taken with the standard mode... Is it happening only on my device or it's a software problem that we all are facing?

It's not all about the hardware specs mate, the software plays fair important role as well, it's just not a good time to get the X100 Ultra

I understand the comparison between this generations mobile devices, but some of us don't have this generations mobile device, we're looking to upgrade from last generation or even previous. Would you say the upgrade is worth it if you're coming from the X90 Pro Plus?
i'm coming and i say yes just for the sake of battery life which is a clear improvement . i'm at 50% battery at the end of the day now where on x90 pro+ i'd have max 30% left
ultra wide is the same, main camera is slightly better if you pixel peek and takes photos faster in low light(like 1 sec vs instant in some cases) , the zoom camera is the biggest upgrade especially if the light is lower and the macro shots are wow.
It can now support 4k 60fps with HDR where x90 pro+ has hdr only on 4k 30 fps, the cinematic video now supports 4k too not only full hd and you can change focus on post.
I like the HD portrait shot as well, very high details .
Speakers are slightly better.
What I'm disappointed is the small fingerprint sensor, so far it looks that is working good is just regular size now which is sad.
The charging can now be set to slower so i don't have to use a separate charger like before and just fast charge when i rarely need to preserve battery health but I don't understand why they don't add an option to limit the charging to 85%.
I'm keeping my eyes on idle drain now since x90 pro+ had insane idle battery drain, had just 2% last night but with sleep mode enabled, will test with it disabled now, x90 pro+ had 8-10% battery drain over night.
Everything else is pretty much the same, the main reason i upgraded was the much bigger battery since i was disappointed with battery life of x90 pro+ otherwise I would have waited for the next year flagship.
@@adyady3099 I really love being able to separate my fingerprint sensor so one side loads straight into the camera app, is this not possible on the X100U? I primarily bought the X90PP for mobile photography and wanted the best, so in terms of photography the telephoto sounds like a hell of an improvement over the X90PP.

idle battery drain is sadly still here, i lose 8% per night with sleep optimization disabled which is crazy high, for people using their phones 2-3 hours per day the idle drain will consume the battery without doing anything but for someone like me who uses it 5-6 hours per day i'm not too much affected but is still sad, could have get 1 extra hour of screentime with better idle
as comparison iphone loses 1% over night and samsung 2-3% so the battery acts more like 5000mAh because of the drain which some say is chinese spyware, other say that is a cheap modem.
I usually charge it up to 85% and after 24 hours i'm around 20% with 5-6 hours of screen time which is good but could have been better.

Awesome review Sami. I think the Oppo is by far the best pound for pound ultra phone released this year, possibly ever. The amount of optimizations and improvements they are introducing is incredible, theres another new firmware released which further improves the long range zoom too! Plus the portraits are a generation ahead of all other phones

Oppo clearly has the better video lowlight. But Vivo has the best camera for photography in lowlight.
And if you look for consistent , i think vivo did the best in all lenses.
Yes the Oppo did the zoom better beyond 10x but no one will use the zoom up to that point.. one thing that oppo did better than vivo is video at night. But for photography at night? Does it beat vivo ? I dont think so.

If you own a Vivo X90 Pro Plus, then the Ultra should be a nice upgrade regardless. If you have a Vivo X100 Pro, you're better off waiting for the Vivo X200 Pro being relreased in November 2024 with the next gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 4/Dimensity 9400 as it's not that far away.

The X100 Ultra is better than the Pro version imho. The X100 Pro is oversharpening making scenes look slightly unnatural. The Ultra strikes a nice balance. All great cameras though.

in the videos i would say X100 Ultra was the best, it lost out in front video because it has bad stabilization in daylight and worst HDR
During nighttime it always had mode details, in 1x and zoom, tho Oppo had better HDR in 1x
In all other video tests Vivo had more detail and smoother stabilization

It looks like you have a defective sample. For other reviewers, at least in the telephoto lens, ultra is much better than others
In my x100u device, stage mode is only a photo mode ..
You have to press the icon beside that shutter button to switch to video mode :DD
very interesting results, seems like x100 ultra can either shine or get blurry 50% of the time
tho most of the time X100 Ultra made a blurry zoom shot, but at 11:50 it shined (this pic shows the power of 200mpx)
you can see the black parts that are inside of the letters
So my conclusion is this:
Currently X100 Ultra is not a fully optimized device, thought it shows its hardware is the best on the market for now, it struggles in some situations, seems like its anti shake or some other algorithm cant keep up and makes a blurry photo, but the megapixel count always helps, i always found its pictures in this comparison to look natural- the dynamic range, more natural detail (tho not that noticeable). On the high zoom levels you always get some blurriness and haziness even with DSLR
But it hasn't been fully optimized like the X100 Pro
And i have to say X7 Ultra is a great phone also, very good and consistent results

Good smartphone, but released too late, and above all, it is not really better than the Vivo X100 Pro or the Oppo Find X7 Ultra which currently cost less than it, without even mentioning the fact that smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be released in 3 months at most.
Ps: without forgetting that we went from an X90 Pro+ which managed to maintain more than 95% performance in stress tests and gaming, to this series of Vivo X100 which barely maintains 60% performance, losing in the process the super 3D Sonic fingerprint sensor from Qualcomm 😮💨

For now x100 ultra is not worth the upgrade from x100 pro, oppo sometimes does better in detail in daylight but vivo is unbeatable at night especially when without light

Thanks for honest review, plenty of people are trying to convince rest that X100 Ultra is so great, but truly I don't see that difference worth paying so much more, the only thing I regret in chinese X100 Pro is that there is no B20 LTE frequency for Europe if it was available ( I don't want global rom ), then I'd go for X100 Pro and I think from past reviews that X7 Ultra is loosing in photos overal with Vivo.

I think that all the flagship phones of 2024 are equal in terms of UWide ans Wide photo quality, it's just a preference of style or affinity with the brand. Where Vivo is strong is the use of this sensor which relaunches the situation in nighttime mid/long zooms by capturing more details and possibly more light... but weird... even if your review is viewed on my big screen the difference is not felt compared to its predecessor and Oppo. X100U will have to learn his skills with the next generation of competitors, which will become complicated... but Vivo have thrown a spanner in the works. The technological battle in terms of photos/videos zoom on smartphones promises us a bright future. Who knows in a few decades or maybe before there will be only one sensor for all distance ranges (macro to long range zoom) but then we would reach the physical limits in a smartphone... but the human imagination is limitless ---> Quantum :D Your reviews are always interesting with a unique style.

Only thing it needs upgrade is ultrawide camera and mic . Overall the best phone in 2024 .
