My favorite type of content is always something that I can come away from knowing I've learnt something, this was certainly the case here amigo. Educational and entertaining as always (the musical interlude was genius!) brilliantly put together and a joy to watch (I had zero Dragon Ball Z knowledge before viewing). Looking forward to your next drop my dude!
I was weirdly fortunate in my childhood to have tons of figures from the super battle collection, Irwin, jakks, and ultimate figure series lines as a kid. Constantly I was breaking these figures during battles, trading with friends, or losing them during various outings with family. With all of that said, my absolute favorite Goku as a child was the jakks one shown at 8:17, I had him for a week before dropping him and snapping the ankle peg. Bought him again as an adult and I'm still keeping an eye out for a sealed one. These videos are great for my nostalgia, I always felt like the odd kid for knowing about the differences between Irwin and jakks. Friends at school would say something about having a character for trade and I'd hit them with "Irwin or jakks?" It always got a weird look in response lmao
One of the best videos covering some of these old DBZ toys I’ve seen! Really digging the editing too! Hoping to see more coverage of these two companies Dbz figs in the future.
These Dragonball videos are hitting me with hard nostalgia. It seems 9 year old me had the same taste in action figures as you. I owned pretty much all of these up to midway through the Jakks runs.
So glad we live in an age i can buy my son Dragon Star figures that come with interchangeable hands. He would of thrown these Jakks Pacific ones back at me.
Your videos are amazing, it’s almost like I am in the 90s complaining to my friends about figures. Please continue doing these! Would love to see some on Super battle collection, most fights had to be settle with a two foot flying kick to the chest because they had no legs articulation
@@raulbarros8077 Ya know, my only experience with Super Battle collection were Goku, SS Goku, and Saiyan Armor Vegeta. My friend up the street had them, and boy were they silly looking lol.
I had the golden metallic hair gohan that came with the flying machine and let me tell you i broke his hands so many times lol.. great video man keep it up
Thank you! And I had him too but I bought him loose from a website I can’t remember anymore and never had the bike. I was always annoyed that the patina copper haired version was the only way to have a gohan without his cape!
@@Chronically0nline yeah in my opinion irwin was making the best action figures or at least starting to figure it out before they went bankrupt.. when Jakk's took over they kind of slacked
@@childofAtlantis618I think the Jakks stuff is only coveted because it was hard to find for a lot of us kids. It briefly was available at GameStop, but by 05 I could only get them at Toys R Us and the only one of those was about 40 minutes away from my house.
7:46 for me This is a Super Saiyan 2 Goku and Vegeta, that Vegeta With Halo, The adult Gohan With Black suite, and the Glow figures is also a Super Saiyan 2 for me, my favorite transformation... what a shame they do this with this Cool transformation,They have the audacity to call a Goku Kaioken a Super Saiyan, so for me there are Super Saiyan 2 figures, my favorite transformation and My favorite figures
Another enjoyable vid! Your attention to detail is very strong! Did you ever have any exposure to the 90s Toybiz X-Men figs? I bet you could do a lot of analysis with that toy line...
I did not as I was too young and missed those as a kid. But I’ve looked at many 90’s toy biz figures as an adult and would quite enjoy doing a video on some of them!
I must have a heightened imagination because I'd just pretend they had closed fists while fighting and use the open hands for things involving ki blasts. We're so spoiled nowadays with things like the Evolve line where you can at least swap the hands out.
I quit buying these at a certain point. I think earlier figures looked good like Trunks, Super Saiyan Gohan, Perfect Cell, and the Androids but there was a lot that looked so cheap too. Also Goku actually got his driver's license in the manga. So he's really not a bad driver.
The wave of nostalgia seeing these old Irwin and Jakks Pacific toys is hitting hard. Either fishing for these toys at a local PX (Military family), Walmart, Target, Kb toys, and Toys R US. Even making rumors off dragonball movies before they were released dubbed. But damn those toys are ugly as sin. You gotta talk about the IF Labs/Jakks movie figures.
Kids these days are so lucky the action figures are way better, although to a kid it hardly matters but the dragon stars line while not perfect is light years beyond those 90s figures
Jack's specific toys literally look like bootlegs it's crazy the quality drop especially considering they made great in WWE figures at the same time and I'm pretty sure they also used some of the same parts and molds
Man, I recall being annoyed by this as a kid. There was so much left to be desired from the DBZ toylines back then. I always hated the over use of washes on those figures, just didn't fit the aesthetics of the show imo. I always wanted Vegeta in his 1st appearance armor (not the green & orange color scheme) but we didn't get that until some years later when I wasn't even into DBZ anymore. I recall seeing that Jakks finally released one but it was hella expensive on the 2nd hand market. After some months in 2009 I was able to score a MOC one for like $20 off of ebay. It was a cool looking figure, but his crotch busted apart as soon as I moved his legs to display him in a cool pose. Had to glue it back together and leave him standing straight. Too bad we didn't have stuff like those SH Figuarts figures back then, where they covered different outfits and all that stuff. I remember ToyBiz usually had almost everything covered back in the 90s with Spider-Man and X-Men figures, always left me wondering why Irwin couldn't do the same with DBZ. Also, one of the things that drove me nuts was how figures would never be consistent in scaling with DBZ.
One of the funniest things on the internet I ever saw was someone leaving a youtube comment about that Armor Vegeta Jakks figures eyes. They said something like: Vegeta's eyes said
You said GT sucks so that's why Goku always comes with open hands almost all the time But in all seriousness I have no idea why Goku came with open hands all the time, maybe they think we'll have Goku only do Kamehamehas and Spirit Bombs?
@@RefthsSuperSecretAccount I wasn’t blaming GT for the entire problem. I was saying theres nothing lost with the all the usages for SS4 Goku having a silly open hand.
@Chronically0nline I know, that's why I said "in all seriousness" as in, i wasn't being serious with what i said That bit where Goku put his hand at a window was funny, and my favorite part was the "i'm so high" moment, keep up the good work man
Surprisingly this stupid idea stills today, the first Goku from the dragon ball evolve also has open hands, they have an excuse because is to make kamehameha's but man, goku also did the kamehameha with close hands so... Yeah... (In future goku's they give him punches)
The bias towards open hands isn’t completely illogical. Outside of martial arts what’s his most iconic attack? The Kamehameha, which requires open hands with tensed fingers. Which nearly all of these figures do.
Bet you 10 bucks you can get NONE of these figures in a pose that replicates the ACTIVE ATTACK of the Kamehameha... spoiler alert, you owe me $10. Good try though!
More dbz irwin and Jakks stuff please this was an incredible video
Thanks man!
My angel Goku has been my families Christmas tree topper for years now. The hands help him grip the top branch haha.
THAT is hilarious. Good touch!
Don't have anything to add about the hands, but I like seeing the different figures from the line highlighted, so thanks for that.
