    Thanks for the video Action Kid, I am another Gardena kid born and raised. Back in the 70's, 80's, 90's. I remember when my cousin and I used to walk around the city then. So many memories and surprised to a few businesses like Gardena Glass still there. I remember the restaurant you talked about on Western that had two names, it used to be The Sizzlers steak restaurant all you can eat. Redondo Beach Blvd. And Western used to be the old Alpha Beta grocery store my mom used to shop at. I think next to them was on of the few old Taco Bells when they first opened up, I think they went by another name.

    I grew up in Garden and went to Chapman Elementary back in the early 60s. Our family doctor was a fellow named Kobayashi- A chain-smoking GP who inspired me to go to med school. I loved Gardena. Don't know if the greatest Italian Deli is still around- Giuliano's made the best food on the planet. My mom bought all my cub and boy scout uniforms at the Gardena Dept store on Gardena Blvd.

    Thanks for the tour! Reminds
    me of my time living in LA. I lived in Huntington Beach back in the mid 90’s. I would often pick up my Mexican girlfriend, who lived on Marine Ave in Gardena, in my beat up VW convertible. Good times! I’m now living in New Zealand and married to a beautiful kiwi girl with 3 kids.

    From Gary Sherman: thank you for the video. I was really surprised to find it. 59 years ago I lived in a house that was where The Ladybug Café is now; I was a huge lot so the house was torn down and a Sizzler was built there. The property next door on the north was Folkrod Plumbing and the now MT lot on the other side was a motorcycle shop. You did a good job and I for one really enjoyed it.

    Been following you since your Vegas vlog. This vlog hits home. I was born in Gardena back in the 60's. I used to live across from Perry Junior High School. What memories. Mahalo for sharing.

    Wow, Action Kid I didn't know you have a video of Gardena. I live 2 miles west of that area. I always watch your videos from NYC, Vietnam and Los Angeles, and Toronto, Canada. Gardena is considered a suburb of Los Angeles.

    My favorite place in LA county. A lot of the restaurants appear to be empty but they actually have rear entrances. Azuma, Otafuku, all of Tozai Plaza… all have rear entrances. If you visit during dinner time, you’ll find yourself on a waiting list.

    I live in Gardena it is a great place. There are two former racetracks Carrell Speedway & Ascot. The channel Freeway City has as I recall an interview with the son of the Ascot owner. Ascot was referred to in the Disney Animation "Cars" there's a car auction lot there now right across the mostly dry river from Home Depot.

    At 6:16 to your right (across from the ladybug cafe-used to be Sizzler) there is a parking lot where my father had his auto repair shop and my uncle had a auto body shop next to him for many years.

    Don't get me wrong. It's still a great city. But the African-American population was much higher in the late 80s and throughout the 90s. That's the era I had lived there. Right off of 135th in New Hampshire.

    Great narrating. The city of Gardena is way better than the city of Los Angeles. I love the Japanese shops in Gardena and the mall on Western and Artesia.
    I actually visited Japan (Nihon) in 2006. It is like a taste of Japan in Gardena and even in Little Tokyo, Downtown Los Angeles. Only people who been to Japan and are from Japan can relate to that.

    Live here all my life . The areas you shown are the side close to Torrance . Safer area . Go to the other side of Redondo beach blvd. That’s where mostly Hispanics and blacks live , closer to south central . More dangerous fosure. Gardena shotgun crip and Gardena pay bacc crip occupy that side . This side is Gardena 13

    I can't believe how peaceful this place is compared to when I lived there...Gardena was just as bad if not way worse than any hood in South Central.

    Although this a fine video , There is not much that stands out, just a typical street on Anytown ,USA .
    LA is a "Car Town". I miss NYC. How about SanFran, CA.- Golden Gate, Haight- Ashbury China Town , Alcatraz ......

  • @mahartma
    @mahartma 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Only made it 3/4 through, if you ignore the cars there were four living souls in the area and zero customers :/
