- I walk through Culver City, located in Los Angeles County, CA. The city has been a home for film and television production over the years. It is named after its founder Harry Culver, and is most famous for being the home of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios. It is also home to Sony Pictures, and has a sizable restaurant scene.

I love Culver City. So much history. Great places to eat everywhere, nice coffee shops, the best car show every May, parks, the studios and on and on. One of the best cities in Los Angeles.
One of my fav places, for public talks at Sony, live theater, and farmers market. Really changed, loved the water fountain. Thanks again for the re-visit for me.
Love the downtown Culver City area. We've stayed twice in an AirBnb and absolutely love the vibe there. It seems so family-friendly but at the same time there are tons of young adults working and living there. Tons of great restaurants, extremely walkable with a great bus system and clean metro line. There's a lot of energy there throughout the day and night with people walking everywhere. Would move there in a heartbeat if I could afford it.
I had a childhood friend that moved to the Culver City area and I went to visit her there once years ago and loved it. Thanks for bringing back the memories AK! And as always cheers from your friend here in NYC!

Definitely a fun area to visit
Lots of good food options in Culver City. One of the best fried chicken spots is there . . . Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken. It's a lot like the old Golden Bird chicken, which had locations throughout LA years ago. And there's also an In N' Out Burger a couple of blocks over on Venice Blvd. Thirty years ago Culver City was a rundown seedy section of LA, but it has undergone huge transformation recently, and is now a very attractive area.

the UCLA Margo Leavin graduate studios for Fine Arts are also located in Culver City :-). LACMA is not too far away

lol I have to say a while ago I took my friend around part of LA, and when in Culver city we went to city hall and my friend said about the structure that you thought was a fountain "Is that a big toilet paper roll icon" LOL! Now, whenever I see it I just see a big toilet paper roll myself ahh - can't unsee it now! lol
Culver Studios, with the mansion, was occupied by Sony, but currently is mostly Amazon Studios as it has done construction to double space. Streaming service grew Amazon studios in Culver city, as Netflix is occupying in Hollywood. Apple+ is new but read it is occupying a new office building 1 block from Culver city metro station and making it headquarters.
In future I hope that small section between metro station and Downtown culver city, with the car dealership will be torn down and connect the two areas with walkable housing , offices, restaurants.
The Culver Studios have changed hands many times through the years. Fans of such films as GONE WITH THE WIND and the original A STAR IS BORN will recognize the “mansion” as the headquarters of Selznick International Pictures as it was shown at the beginning of all of its films.
As AK mentioned, Sony Pictures Entertainment spent the majority of its time as MGM Studios where THE WIZARD OF OZ, THE THIN MAN, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, etc. were filmed. It's incongruous that the old posters shown on that wall are of past Columbia Pictures films (now Sony) which were not even filmed there.

When AK passes by the Culver Hotel and also the Culver City Hall, a lot of location filming was done there outside of studio . A lot of movies by by Laurel and Hardy and others comedic people . The old pictures are shown by another You Tuber and they show an almost small town setting compared today AK walk .

He would need to do another LA visit then take the Metrolink or rent a car to get to the Antelope Valley. There was only so much he can capture & film while he was here in LA as the city & county is so spread out.
