Thanks Swifty as Poles isn't the villian here! JF1 was drafted by 2 less talented people who had no business drafting him period! Wasted his opportunity to be a more pro ready QB 😢 Poles did his job by building a franchise for long term successes! I for one hoped Poles was building around JF1 but business is making hard decisions and one player doesn't make the decision for the entire team in this case as it was time to improve this organization! EXCELLENT JOB SWIFTY !!!!!!! You hit the nail on the head - Poles by FAR the best GM we have seen in a L O N G time. He knows what he is doing. One more thing to prove the points you made is this : Look not only at the TEAM he has BUILT, but look at the CULTURE. Look at this LOCKER ROOM. We started out last year as many were calling us a “dumpster fire”; and look where this team ended up. That’s because not only did he choose TALENTED players, but men of CHARACTER. They stood beside Coach Flus, demonstrated integrity, loyalty, and character and turned this team around. You cannot put a price on that. At no time did they give up, they didn’t quit, they didn’t make excuses, they PLAYED HARD and now we see the rewards.
You are right on Swifty. Poles' strategic approach has been amazing. And I cannot believe how fast the turnaround has happened. A little luck with back to back 1.1s didn't hurt. With the salary cap situation and draft capital amassed, the future is bright. I am loving this ascending team!

Great job on the subject. In pro football no one can tank or lose on purpose, there just aren't enough games to insure any outcome. One pick or spot in the draft isn't going to rebuild a roster. What Poles has done in 2 years is actually miraculous. I have been a Bears fan longer than Swifty has been alive. We are usually scraping to fill some starting spots with non NFL starting talent. This roster has legitimate starting talent at every spot and reserve talent we have never seen before. Never have the Bears come close to this much talent in a receiving group! The Oline is the best group since 1985 and so is the linebacker group. We have had great individual players, but never near this complete of a roster on both sides of the ball.
Once upon a time we never had the terms "Tanking' or "losing on purpose." That is so disgusting. Imagine telling Mr. Butkus to play to lose. It's why i gave up the family's season ticket...plus the food at SF got so bad...

caleb williams came on the scene so strong at oklahoma. ain no way any scout or gm in the league not konw who he was after that then to follow up with a heisman season. and yes pace cost fields the beginning of his career. no doubt. poles inheritted a mess and its amazing what he has done with the team in 3 years.

They were not trying to lose, but they set the team/roster up to do so.. Upper management knew what they were doing with the trades, cuts and signings. But nobody in that locker room was telling themselves they were going out there to lose

@SwiftSportsNetwork it's like, when half the roster gets turned over each year, contracts ending and 1 year deals, why would ANY player or coach want to go out and perform poorly so they can attach losses to their pro record and set the franchise up for future success that may not include them? People who think players are trying to lose never competed in real sports... You don't train all year (life) to let someone else get the spoils...
If just regular people that watch college football knew who Caleb Williams was 3 years ago of course Poles a GM of an NFL football team knew who he was. I agree 100% that would be insane if Poles somehow didn't know who Caleb was way better than an average fan watching the game.

I said that 3 months ago. Poles and his staff know good talent coming out of high school. They’re not dumb.
What about the staff they put together last year. Getzy was probably the best of the bunch. The others are completely gone from the NFL forever.
Poles knew about Alan Williams and because he is an African American GM. The league looked the other way. Never seen something get swept under the rug so quickly.
Justin alone got Luke fired. It was no wonder he got hired 20 minutes after he was fired

The difference between rebuilding & tanking is just semantics because the end goal is exactly the same. No player or coach in ANY pro sport is actively trying to lose or be part of a rebuild because they already know that 99% of them won’t be there if the team begins to have success years down the line. However, yes Poles was actively trying to tank because those are the conditions that he put in place. This isn’t a bad thing though & we as fans need to stop thinking of it that way.
I believe the Bears Defense will be Cutthroat this season and our Offense will be better than last year at the floor. Our offensive Ceiling may be top 10, with CW being the X factor. Playoffs this year depends on our Division Games after Caleb warms up the first half of Season. Bears will be a powerhouse in 2 years, owning not just the NFC North, but the NFC.

Players have production incentive contracts either current or in the future. You can't pay a guy enough to tank a game, let alone tarnish their legacy.

Yea, Poles inherited a lot of roster problems. Can't fix them all at once, at least not in a way that's going to last. I don't completely buy into the narrative that Fields wasn't getting the talent around him he needed. That was definitely true before 2023, but I think he was actually set up pretty well last season

Pace kept trading up and overspending on free agency. Pace never had a long term draft plan. A bunch of picks for Trubisky ,Mac, and Fields to name the worst examples.
When someone uses the word TANKING..its like your friends calling you cheap if you cut back your spending to save for a HOUSE.

Real rebuilds take stripping the roster down completely. Then with good draft classes and solid free agents you can build a winner. That's where we are heading. Bear Down!!

They're showing excitement in the off season. Life is short, it's ok to get excited for things. Standing on the sideline acting better than everyone and trying to feel smart by not buying in does not make you superior.

Some of the play calling late in games in 2022 was very odd imo. I think they tanked games that way. This way it wouldn’t involve any players.

I've been hard on Poles. It's been a frustrating last 3 seasons. As long as he stops trading with Pittsburgh, really improves the lines on both sides and we start FGB 2x a year I'm all good and will give him a crown. Until then he just gets a sword and shield 🛡🗡

Poles has killed it. Getsy is my only mark against him. Claypool was an educated guess. claypool failed more than Poles. Velus maybe can right the ship with new return rules.
