The Bears were picking 9th. The only reason Poles wanted to trade up is odunze. We were not the 13th pick. Your gm is dumb for turning down a free pick

Bear fan here too. Thank you for making good content. We scratched our heads as Bear fans but what we were told was that other teams were trying to move up to get a QB with ATL and getting an extra 4th but possibly having the Bears trade that to someone else was too risky. Even if the Bears had tunnel vision on drafting Rome. And with the potential punishment coming the Falcons knew their team is built for now and got extra QB insurance. Hard to find many holes on that team so it makes sense they are all in.

The Bears wanted Odunze period, even if the falcons had traded down to 9 and received a future 4th and the Bears flipped the 8th to The raiders. how did they figure a team would be dumb enough to Pick a QB with their first pick after signing a major FA QB? this is a horrible take my man. Everybody knew we were either going QB or Edge rusher, we long since dispelled the WR rumor. When it got round the draft the Raiders was very interested in Penix and the reports came out to back them up Atlanta knew we had to go ahead and grab him. Just like Ryan Poles knew he had to grab Odunze at first chance. However if they could have swindled that 8th pick from us there’s no telling what the Raiders would have given the Bears for that pick. Meaning the Bears would get Penix ATL would have to opt for an edge rusher and the Bearsa would still get Penix.

Appreciate your content but your suggested theory on the reason why the Bears wanted to trade up just isn't adding up. If the Bears traded up for the 8th pick, why in the world would they take a chance on missing out on Odunze by trading down for the 13th pick from the Raiders along with getting back a 2025 pick that they already had before they traded up for the 8th pick. Make it make sense. IMO your GM was over thinking.

It was just my perception that they would be able to acquire more from the Raiders by acquiring that spot. The Bears probably…just by watching the reaction in the boardroom thought we were interested in Odunze as well but if they acquire more capital than they were losing it’s a Bears win. That’s why I’m thinking Ryan Poles turned to the owner and asked him was he good with the selecting Odunze after we chose Penix.

@@ATLANTAFALCONSFANDEMIC-or3xbNo the didn't brother they were tracking Rome the whole time as the draft was going on and that's not the owner in the room with Ryan it was the assistant GM and Ryan was being sarcastic the top 2 players on the Bears gm draft board was always Caleb & Rome once Rome fell past the Giants because the Giants took Nabers that was when the Bears started to see that the possibility of Rome falling to them was very strong, they pretty much had a good feeling that the Titans were going to take a tackle @#7, so now the only obstacle from them drafting Rome was with Atlanta @# 8 the offer was made to secure the chance of them drafting Rome and honestly Atlanta turned down the offer because they didn't want to take any chances, but to me it just wasn't a calculated move because the Bears wasn't going to offer to move up 1 pick then again to trade down there just isn't any logic in that. At the end of the day both teams got the player that they covet. They have behind the scenes of the Bears entire plan on their local team Channel as well as the NFL Network. Caleb & Rome were working out together before they were even drafted. With Chicago having both the first overall and the 9th pick in the 2024 draft this was always a possibility that the Bears hoped for and were willing to move assets for to get just so happened that the draft board felled just as they had hope it would
