Used your Ludrigan Druid + this guide on my first HC character and got through all but died to Crate, relevelling now again on HC for revenge. Awesome Guides Thanks
The music that plays under the clones fight is from Titan Quests secret "turtle" dungeon. Done a few hundred runs in there back in the days:) Great Guide !
Just finished Crate with pets+wendigo totem conjurer . Pets can easily tank maggots and even kill them all if you have patience (not very long process btw). Died at first try after jumping into the trees where i got stuck and couldn't move. Second try was successful and Crate even dropped Wilhelms amulet.
Thanks for the guide. Just killed my first ever Celestial, John Bourbon of course:) Took about 5.5 minutes with Blade Arc Warder with 6k+ HP regen and 3328 OA (before Fighting Spirit proc)
This type of guide is absolutely fantastic!!!! Will look forward to referring to it in the future. Only just started replaying recently after an account refresh so need to try and gear up first. Luckily you also have a video to help with that too!!! XD
Aww yis, a GD video with Minette, the vibing cat in it! That alone gets you some virtual love from me, sir! Thanks for your continued effort to make this community an awesome place
1:03:13 Disabling auras is going to be a problem in 1.2. So I take it you don't want to try anything that relies on disabling auras when playing ver 1.2. I think this would spoil the Lokkar quest too since the little blue guy you have to lead into the circle would die easily. Might want to tell the devs to reconsider auto-auras.
such depth in this game i began to read all lores note after 1k hours, and dicovered a totally new game. So many secret paths, so many stories, so many epic moments. This game is a enormous diamond gem and its sad that its not so popular.
Oh nice, you made a video guide. I was the first playtester (adoomgod on the forum) to beat the Crate of Entertainment in testing. Would you believe me if I told you he was significantly harder then? After failing on many of my level 100 characters, it took me a bunch of tries with Octavius (which was an OP set back then) and I barely succeeded. The problem was his damage was higher and his crates shot projectiles more often, among other things. Most builds just could not survive him alone let alone his special summon mechanics. Well done with this video.
Hey Adoomgod, sorry for missing your comment until now, glad you like the video! That means a lot to me coming from you! Yea I've heard crate was even stronger back then and I also remember Octavius being broken af back then (aswell as people ragequitting the game after crate nerfed the set :D). I think crate feels like a pretty fair fight nowadays even for HC as you can kill it rather consistenly on specific chars now.
@@rektbyprotoss no worries. Yeah I agree. I was glad my tester feedback was quickly implemented by Z. I was like, "Yeahhh, I'm the playtester who consistently suggests making everything harder, and even I'm saying that I think this one is too hard for release." Haha. Then I detailed the builds I had tried to use, how many times, etc. That his summons weren't the main problem. His crate version of dreeg's evil eye used to do over a third of old OP Octavius's health, and was one of his weaker attacks. He would two-shot most builds even without summoning any mini crates. I did like that it took me like 50 tries across multiple characters but I figured it was a bit too inaccessible for the broader playerbase. I wondered for a while if I should have said it was fine just to let the players experience hell, but since we have that uber super difficult hard-core only secret I think it's fine.
@@iteststuff3854 "but since we have that uber super difficult hard-core only secret I think it's fine." yea I think that one is still hell enough :D I still couldn't get myself to try it a second time so far...
Question regarding crate. Am wondering if a rune build would be effective on him or do the numerous mini crates soak up the explosions makiing them less effective? (I have an acid rune of kalastor build in mind)
Bit of a side note since this guide didn't mention it: Ravager of Minds seems to have been buffed pretty significantly in the form of Nullification totems. For a caster/ranged character, this doesn't really change much. However, for melee characters it basically makes the face tank strat impossible as a single orb from one of these totems removes all of your buffs for 5 seconds. Their casting speed is pretty frequent as well and after Ravager's Enrage he loves spamming those totems.
Great guide! Never new that Moggy does cold damage as well, nice to know that after 20 times killing him :) Calla, Rav and Moggy can be killed in nightmare for the same reward as in ultimate and are a lot easier than in ultimate. Also Ravager has 3 different types and you can spawn lets say Ravager of flesh in nightmare and Ravager of souls in ultimate so that you can farm those with one char. Ravager of mind gives the least useful hat in my opinion as it's special bonus is only a few single digit % of critical damage.
Nice, I started playing this game about a month ago and just got to the point where I'd wanted to attempt the celestials and was going to check how to get to them. Thus far, I've had an attempt at Mogdrogen without much preparation and it ended in hurt lol. But after checking the grimtools and seeing my resistances get lowered and fixing them I at least got it down about 50%, still died tho.
So, using this guide, I've killed Bourbon Clones, Mogdrogen and Lokarr now.. Been triyng to get the full Lokarr set, but I've gotten the shoulderpiece 6 times in a row been at 3/4 pieces after 3 kills and after 11, it's still 3/4. At least the Dark One set has completed itself on the way.
Bruh..i did avatar at lvl 70, Nature/Druid. The only thing i absolutely needed to equip was something that diminshes/stops healing..I think i used Brawlers distinction although i know theres a stronger one, i just cant remember the name. It was a long long fight though, about 20 minutes of grinding him down with summon swarms..
recently killed Rava with my randomly geared warlord speced into shield+retaliation+heavy armor stacking. - 3.2k DA 2.5k effective OA (with blindside) 28k hp. - 7k+ effective armor rating (with shield wall proc) - 60% physical res. - no pots used at all apart from energy potions Bad part - it took me quite some time cuz of my poor offensive ability and lack of desired items. In fact i had only BiS 3 items i plan to build this char around. Also mana burn puddle every 6 sec is extremely annoying, althoug it's easy to get used to it. Good part - poor Rava couldn't do shit against me, and i face tanked him the entire fight including "the eye" debuff. This was the safest Rava kill i ever had. He didn't even trigger my Menhir's Will as far as i remember.
Retaliation warlord is the only build that can easily tank all of the celestials. However, Crate will be difficult to kill without significant damage output.
0:34 : If you haven't beaten all the bosses in grim dawn, did you 'really'' play the game?? I've been struggling one day at a time to kick my GD addiction. But now I suddenly feel like I have to prove to myself I'm not a quitter/little girl/etc. You're an evil, evil man ... ;)
I killed Boutbon and Lokkar with my first lvl100 HC Char which was a Cabalist and died realy dumb against Mogdragon. So i think its time to go after all 6 again. I love such Guides, so die Schnitzeljagd beginnt!
Ahh yes, the mention of the seal of annihilation... trash tier component, to be honest. The reduction to health doesnt work on most regular mobs, let alone bosses. Its flat out better to just put the dread skull in its place. The exception being if youre going for skill cost reduction. Assassins mark needs a change from 100% on crit to x% on hit. Its the only RR source that depends on you being able to crit. GG if your phys/pierce toon doesnt regularly crit. Funny thing about Celestials - most of the them aint worth fighting. If you want to check your toon? Try high tier SR or Crucible. You will get a variety of opponents and bosses/nemeses, using a variety of damage types that will test your toon to the limit. Hell, a group of healers in SR can easily turn your run into a nightmare if theres a nemesis next to them. Celestials are overbuffed, overpowered and designed to kill you quickly not just with damage, but ridiculously high RR, for which you have to prepare... in turn sacrificing your damage output (which results in slower kills/longer time spent swinging and putting yourself in danger as a result). Their loot is also questionable. Calla and Ravager have "okay" drops (entirely due to +1 to skills), Mog drops some low end pet gear nobody gives a crap about, and Lokarr drops a leveling set, which gets outperformed by XP potions you can get in Malmouth. The rest drop nothing worth mentioning - there is no point. If Grim Dawn was some sort of MMO, where you could flaunt those items as some sort of trophies, maybe. But GD is a single player game. So theres that.
What? :D I'll have to disagree with almost everything here. Seal of Annihilation is really strong mainly because of the -55 OA/DA on proc, which is as much effective OA/DA as the osyr's temper augment, which is the best ring augment when it comes to OA/DA. The only downside of the proc being on crit, is usually not a problem since you generally always want to have enough OA to crit on all builds except for non physical retal builds and pet builds. Sure you don't have to use Seal of Annihilation in every build, but it's certainly Tier 1 and for me personally by far my most used amulet component. I agree that bourbon clones' drop is trash nowadays, mogdrogen's is very niche and crate's box even more niche, but callagadra's helm, ravager's helm are BiS on many endgame builds, so they are definitely worth farming for. Lokarr's set and crate's wilhelm's wargem are literally BiS for speedleveling all the way from lvl 1 to 94, so also super worth if you like to make more than 1-2 characters. "Lokarr outperformed by XP pots" - What? That doesn't make any sense. That's like saying a tooth brush is outperforming a shower. You generally want to use both and they don't conflict with each other. "For which you have to prepare, in turn sacrificing your damage output" - On like 99% of good builds you don't have to sacrifice any damage to get the desired additional defense since you can just use ointments and other pots on top. "Assassin's Mark needs a change from on crit to on hit" - why? To make the game more streamlined and boring? Keep in mind you can cunning dump on physical & pierce builds, so reaching high enough OA to crit is pretty much never an issue.
