Only to end up punishing the viewer for not knowing something, making it hard to follow because the writers wanted to appease the diehards of said topic.
Can we just give a round of appluase for Alex, the man created an entire multi level conspiracy game, involving real life and in game things, tied it all together so well, weaved an intricate and interesting story and just overall did a really cool thing that brought players and communities together. Props for him, very talented guy.

I don't know which creepypasta is better, this one or the "NES Godzilla Creepypasta", the amount of work and dedication put into those two pastas is something rarely seen, especially when it comes to creepy internet stories made as a hobby by a single person. And just like the videos are a nice little "something else" that BEN has and other pastas don't, in Godzilla's case it is the screencaps, which are all carefully drawn in pixel art style, which is a major plus on the storytelling and serves as a great complement to the writing, which is also superb. I highly recommend it if you guys enjoyed BEN. Really worth a read. Or better yet, watch Goji73's narration videos, he did an awesome job as a narrator, and the music choices for each area the pasta is describing are spot on.

It's weird to think that Ben Drowned ended up becoming a victim of its own success. Between so much of the ARG side of things being long removed and the story itself getting buried under a mountain of "haunted video game cartridge" stories, some decent but most bad copies that missed the point entirely, most people have forgotten how influential it was and just think it's another old TH-cam meme. Which is kind of a shame considering how much time and effort had gone into it.

One of the things I like about the story when re-reading is that we actually don't know how much is really true after Ben gets on his computer. Nearly everything at that point is completely unreliable, which makes the story that much better.
it's so neat how the creator of one of the most (in)famous creepypastas actually used it to tell an ongoing and much more immersive story. definitely more than the creators of say jeff the killer have done. sounds like a guy who really cares about his story not just someone who wants to be omg spooky for five minutes.
The remake actually told an ongoing story and Jeff only appears in one story. The rest of it is the impacts Jeff's murders had on people. It's actually pretty good

Very well done ARG, only problem is that he spoiled the suspension of disbelief by coming out and stating he needed to put it on hold. After that it was less about people getting absorbed into and trying to solve a mystery, but people just playing some guys game across the internet. ARG's are literally all about keeping that suspension of disbelief.
I had no idea the Creepypasta went this far. :0 I love that they encouraged community interaction to play the game with the videos of the spells from the game and that he had multiple paths and ways to get to the ending. And that it wasn't ruined when Alex revealed himself. This might be one of the best ARGs.
+lexzeyfercronus yeah that's why I love NM. He presents these things in a way that let's you feel the horror (I genuinely felt like I was being watched and even half expected Ben to appear while surfing in a separate window while watching) but he doesn't use jump scares or sudden noises to do it. it's kind of amazing how he can deliver a chilling story without resorting to cheap tactics. This house is another great example of that imo. he delivers the creepyness of the security site better than the site itself in some cases and managed to make me almost jump at his first reveal of "pinky" but he presented him without a sudden loud noise and while also saying "ready to see him?" which should diffuse any real "scare" but he manages to do it in a way that just builds tension.

It's weird to think that Ben Drowned ended up becoming a victim of its own success. Between so much of the ARG side of things being long removed and the story itself getting buried under a mountain of "haunted video game cartridge" stories, some decent but most bad copies that missed the point entirely, most people have forgotten how influential it was and just think it's another old TH-cam meme. Which is kind of a shame considering how much time and effort had gone into it.

One of the things I like about the story when re-reading is that we actually don't know how much is really true after Ben gets on his computer. Nearly everything at that point is completely unreliable, which makes the story that much better.

Very well done ARG, only problem is that he spoiled the suspension of disbelief by coming out and stating he needed to put it on hold. After that it was less about people getting absorbed into and trying to solve a mystery, but people just playing some guys game across the internet.
ARG's are literally all about keeping that suspension of disbelief.

I had no idea the Creepypasta went this far. :0 I love that they encouraged community interaction to play the game with the videos of the spells from the game and that he had multiple paths and ways to get to the ending. And that it wasn't ruined when Alex revealed himself. This might be one of the best ARGs.

He presents these things in a way that let's you feel the horror (I genuinely felt like I was being watched and even half expected Ben to appear while surfing in a separate window while watching) but he doesn't use jump scares or sudden noises to do it. it's kind of amazing how he can deliver a chilling story without resorting to cheap tactics.
This house is another great example of that imo. he delivers the creepyness of the security site better than the site itself in some cases and managed to make me almost jump at his first reveal of "pinky" but he presented him without a sudden loud noise and while also saying "ready to see him?" which should diffuse any real "scare" but he manages to do it in a way that just builds tension.
DriscolDevil Ill check that out. IT takes real effort to achieve such things,specially in an era of cheap scares.
