    After all these years, still heartbroken over the loss of their little brother. That's a LONG time. Been 23 years since I lost my brother ... I know the feeling.

      My grandfather lost his little brother 69 years ago, he still breaks down when he thinks about it. It'll never change.

      I'm just a Buddy Holly fan - but, whenever I sing his songs, especially "True Love Ways", I can't help but choke up.

    What a couple of gentlemen! Without their support Buddy may not have made it and we would never have had the progressive pop and rock that followed, he inspired so many musicians.

      Me, included. "Coincidentally," my very first guitar was the same make, model and year that Buddy started with. I didn't find that out until a month or so ago, best I can remember ...

    From the huge impact of Buddy's music and getting to know Buddy's family background through his brothers, I really think that we should all be thanking the Lord Jesus for the gift of his music. The gospel of love that suffused this family shows in everything I read and see and hear.

    That was very interesting to listen to. I like the story about Buddy getting up on the stage with the band after he schmoozed them!!! THey must have been might impressed by his singing and playing!!! It's nice know that Buddy was moving back home and was going to be building a studio there. This shows how real he was and not some made up recording celebrity.

    Every interview I've ever seen with Larry and Travis always has given a new perspective on Buddy's life. Larry has always struck me as an amazing person. I would have loved to have a big brother like him. More people nowadays need mentors like Larry. Thank you for raising your little brother like you did, sir! God speed!

    Interesting to hear two things from Larry:
    1 - that Buddy was planning to move back to Lubbock, and already had plans in the works for a new home & studio
    2 - his theory about 4 warm bodies inside the plane fogging up the windows - never thought about that before

    Autumn '78 visiting Lubbock on my way to start college in WA, I was privileged to talk on the phone with one of Buddy Holley's brothers. His voice sounded more like Larry's. Larry reminisced 'When Buddy was a young teen I sometimes thought of him as a gangly kid playing his guitar on and on upstairs and warbling off key. While I, the 'responsible older brother' haha, worked long days for the family tile company. ...In a year or two Buddy made us all so proud of his gift, his giving, his skills.' The movie had just come out, I'd seen it in NYC. I wanted to visit Lubbock. I got to talking in a friendly hair salon. The woman proprietor offered, 'I'm friends with the family. I'll call Buddy's brother...'

  • @patrickcasey357

    I think Buddy's brother's memory must be failing him. He said Buddy paid $600 for a brand new Strat around 1956 or 57. The price brand new back then was only around $275.00

    • @whatever_it_takes6691
      @whatever_it_takes6691 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Were they all that same price because I seem to remember in one of his biographies that Buddy bought a Strat that was top of the line. I thought I read that Larry loaned him a grand, which the majority went to a guitar and the rest for some stage clothes that Buddy could perform in.
