I saw Keith Allison when he was performing with Paul Revere and the Raiders, along with B.J. Thomas. It was the first concert I ever attended. The concert was at one of the local universities. I was 14 or 15 years old at the time. The whole concert was very exciting to me, but when Keith played a solo guitar set, I was blown away. He was playing what I now know was an early 50's Stratocaster. I'm pretty sure he was playing into an AC-30. He was playing blues and straight ahead high-energy rock. I was stunned! Never heard anything like this before. I expected to hear the "bubble-gum" music I'd heard on the radio, but this music was just a revelation to me. What he did that night set a course for me in terms of playing and sound. Both were outstanding!
So sorry to learn of his passing.

I still have Keith’s autograph from a caravan show that came through Portsmouth, Ohio, back in the summer of 1967. Thank you for being so nice to a sixteen year old kid.

Gary Busey owned the original guitar at one point. There is a video him on Arsenio Hall with it. I’m sure I spelled both names wrong

I know the guy that built this guitar . He has built replicas of Buddy Hollys guitar for Ron Wood Joe Walsh , Vince Gill, Amy Grant ,Waddy Wachtel Keith Allison and others . He is the a very gifted luthier . I played one of his builds and they are amazing .

Didn't Gary bucey buy the original Buddy Holly guitar From the proceeds he made from the movie. Didn't he have the fretboards replaced? And they took the original fretboards and put one On each of these replicas.

I am 59 now....but as a kid growing up in the 60s.....I loved watching Happening 68.Paul Revere and the Raiders were just miming playing I think.Kind of like the Monkees did on their show. But I always remembered Mark Lindsey had a pony tail and I thought wow....how cool. But actually Paul was the blond guy who wasn't as popular. The only song hit I can think of was Cherokee People.I remember one show....Leonard Nemoy appeared on and Paul was wearing pointed ears like Spock wore....and that was a short running gag .

That leather cover has to dampen the sound of the guitar
It looks great but covering a fine wood has to be at the expense of sound and projection
