hey wow i knew there was a reason i fell in love with this album, congrats on your sobriety, keep it up! love this sound (3 years sober for me) ROCK ON
I’m not a fan of Ben creating this narrative of shitting on metalcore and their metalcore origins. I get that they’re trying to branch out and create a sustainable income that will support their families but that doesn’t need to come at the expense of their old fans who are wanting the “open note breakdowns” that Ben seems to hate so much. The comments of how the scene is “promoting violence” sounds so ignorant and just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The new album is fun and catchy but it’s nowhere near the fun I had with their older catalogue. If you’re into arena pop rock cool, this albums for you. It’s not for me or anyone who was hoping to hear some aggressive AA
Anthony J Lee here’s my take. I love everything up to LAHOF. Even the Self Titled. I only like LAHOF. The only songs I jam off it are What’s Gonna Be, Here’s To Starting Over, Lorazepam and sometimes I Don’t Need You whereas with the other records I love most if not all the songs on them. My biggest problem is like what you said with Ben saying that music promotes the violence (pun intended lmao). Asking has helped me through a lot and R&R, TB and Self Titled have helped me through it. The first two are some of their heaviest work. That didn’t promote violence. It did the opposite and really did and still does help me and I think Ben saying all these things is a bit stupid and immature to be honest. I love the guy but saying metalcore ‘promotes violence’ is a load of bullsh*t.
@@DopDipDop he doesn't mention anything about metal core "promoting" violence, not in this interview anyway, im just as confused as you are with the other comments
Does that mean that they were just good posers back then during the first two albums? It'd be fun to ask Ben that lol. I really liked wreckless and relentless. They seem to have discarded their metal core dynamics. I was hoping that even if they didn't stay metal core that they would at least get heavier this time around but no. They have a good diverse variety of albums though. Everybody album is totally different than one another after the first two.
Forget the screams man. Really. We not 20 anymore. To many bands doing the fucking scream. They all sound the same this days. Music is music. I bet you like the ice bucket challenge listing to whatever one does . They changed to a more musical way and less deja vu. Let's embrace that. This is the best album . Very musical and very creative. Chorus. Prechorus. After chorus. Well written
The new album was the last straw for me. I only liked some songs from the self titled record, but I was going to give this album a fair chance. It is bad. All the songs sound the same with weak and slow verses followed by the choruses. They are very formulaic and repetitive. I’ll continue to enjoy the first 4 albums in full, but they probably won’t make anything I like again. Also I’m glad they’re in a better place, but no one is asking them to be addicted to substances again. A lot of us just want some good heavy music. WCAR is a prime example of heavy music with positive and meaningful lyrics
When he said that about not doing drugs again to make a heavy album, I laughed out loud! No one is saying DO DRUGS or become alcaholics again, Jesus. We just want a good heavy album that made fans fall in love with you! And you're right, WCAR is a perfect example of a band that has never lost that sound and style that makes them stand out from others, but at the same time progressing and getting better, while also continuously making good heavy albums. This new album by AA seems so generic, so mainstream radio, If you were to play this to me without me knowing who it was by, I would never in my life guess it was by AA. Ever. I think they wrote songs they hope will be picked up on tv shows and movies and pushed on mainstream radio.
@@rikkileigh That's such a generic thing to say about this. Yeah, bands evolve. They just don't swap their entire sound of music. They built a fanbase in the metal core genre, then all of a sudden hopped over to pop rock basically. We Came As Romans evolved, and gussying what, they still never lost that sound that made them stood out. They evolved but still kept making the kind of music their fans loved.
@@bobanoosh well i don't care what you think. They don't always have to do the same type of music all the time. It is good to see them do something completely different, who knows their next album might be like. Good on AA for doing sonething different.
I like their album, it is great. People just don't want to understand that they will never come back in 2009 and it is cool. They always were different
Its called music. If the band will do the same type of albums would be other band like guns and Roses that can't bring nothing new. Bands like asking Alexander and shinedown they envolve with years when other bands are still in the same shit.
Thanks for posting! If you have a minute, I tried my hand at a cover of SZA. As a fellow music lover, I'd love if you'd check it out. It's on my channel. Hope you like it!
@@rikkileigh I don't understand how. The lyrics are poor, the mixing is poor, there is nothing interesting about any of the songs. They're shallow, I can guarantee you won't be listening to any of these songs in 2 months from now- this is because there's nothing unique or interesting about them. I still listen to a lot of their songs from the self titled and The Black to this day, because they are good songs. I encourage you to go and listen to one of those albums again, then return to this, you will find that this album is of a poor quality. The only reason I can think why you like this album is because it has that "new" factor, you've never heard these songs before so it's all very "new", once that "newness" fades, you will see how truly tash this album is.
@@MemeGang420 i can guarantee that i will definitely be listening to this album along with all the others in 2months, 6months and even a years time I love the new album it is awesome.
Thats because you a kid that thibks heavy is more cool and in the end your balls are from a kid. Grow some balls man. In time you will see that music is music. There is 20000000 banks with screaming if that's your thing . You like this deja vu kids that goes for the ice bucket challenges without knowing how music breaks in. I like napalm dead when I was a kid and took a piss of Metallica when in fact napalm dead is not even music. Is shit. But i though I had balls. Until I wake up and smell the coffee. Dude. Be different. And grow the fuck up
Its not that bad. It just not the best that has put out personaly the best songs on there is House on fire and Antisocialist.BUT they should go back to the times of FDTD and the debut 2017 as thing together like two sounds mixed together.
Thank you for doing these. They are very good and insightful. The interviewer is fantastic
It is also cool that they are so open about
it too giving hope to those who still suffer

As someone who overcame similar obstacles I
can completely relate, to that sobering process
Holy shit, that was probably the corona virus 😅 glad you’re all okay and healthy now. Can’t wait for the album to drop 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥
I am so happy they cleaned up their act!
It is freedom from the pain of addiction!
I am so psyched for Paradise City omg
Cant believe your family might have gotten the coronavirus!?! 🤯🤯 Glad the fam is fine
So Excited 🔥

Wait did ben actually say metal core "promotes violence"? Could you tell me where I can find the quote?
