I want to say it was Better Minecraft [Fabric] v8 - (Beta). Its been a while since we did this playthrough and Panda was updating this a lot at the time. If anything do not pass v13 - (Beta) if you want to use the Dark Enchanting. I guess the modpack maker decided to remove it at that stage because it was no longer being fixed (I saw it in patch notes when I was trying to find the version we played XD)
I tried some experimenting to see exactly what the criteria is for maximum discount. The crying obsidian under the enchanter is not needed. All of the inner ring is. The center piece of crying obsidian on each side of the outer ring is not needed. The one under each of the obsidian pillars and three on each side of them are. The inner ring needs 15 bookcases. The outer needs 29. The bookcases need to be above the essential crying obsidian no higher than 6 blocks above it - the level of the dark conduits. The bookcases do not need to be connected to anything else, just exist in the appropriate blocks. Bookcases more than 6 blocks above the crying obsidian or in the center of the outer ring will not help. The minimum materials needed for maximum discount will be 44 crying obsidian, 44 bookcases, 20 obsidian, 4 conduits, and of course the dark enchanter. More can be used, but will not increase the discount. The inner ring will get you 20%, the outer another 20%, and the obsidian pillars with conduits another 10%, maxing out at 50%. I had trouble with one I built in a survival game. It wouldn't go over 20%. I finally found that a torch I put down on the ground near the enchanter was interfering. I removed it and the discount went to 50%. I was able to put torches for mob spawn control on the sides of the obsidian pillars. Watch out for foreign objects.
Hay, protip about crying obsidian - u can find about 3x 64 in meteor, that's so much easier then mining it in that one biome (u can find meteor by compass what u have on starts)
When you look at the discount, does it have 2 stars? the second ring has to be made of crying obsidian and each corner must have obsidian pillars 5 blocks tall... if it has the 2 stars, the bookshelves have to touch one of the corner obsidian and connect to each other. I started working on the tier 2 upgrade at 8:40

mine literally only has 15% when yours has 20 and its the exact same bruh
