"SUFIS VS. SALAFIS!" - Baraka Boys Podcast (Season 2, Ep.5)

  • Sectarianism is something most of us will experience at some point in our Islamic journey. With everyone appealing to the authority and legitimacy of their group above all, it can become confusing for young Muslims to decide which group to join, or if they should even join a group at all. We break down some of our personal experiences with different Islamic groups, and try to offer a way out of the false dichotomy presented to many Muslims.
This season we're taking the podcast to a whole new level. You can watch this episode over on the brand new Baraka Boys TH-cam channel. The podcast is also now available as an audio podcast on Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

growing up as kids we didnt even know what sect we were, there wasnt much choice so every muslim in the borough showed up to the same mosque. It was only later that we clocked our parents were from different sects. Many of our fams are hella religious: as in turn the TV off when the sun sets religious... but as long as you pray namaz, fast and hold yourself morally accountable it's chill. For me i think individuals have just gotta keep it simple, and if you wanna do extra stuff that's on you. We keep comparing ourselves to other muslims, and living in that bubble make people get semantic (is that the word?)... I'm gonna listen to the rest of this vid now, hopefully i gain some new info about these factions. I'll update the comment when im done, bless

The major difference is that one group, the saved one, follows the Prophet pbuh by how the Sahabah used to follow his Sunnah and worship Allāh swt alone with sincerity and no partners and have correct aqeedah.
And the other groups make stuff up (Bidah), follow his/hers desires, commits shirk (magic, wrong aqeedah, superstition etc)
The Salafis are Salafis because they follow the Salaf as Saalih (pious predecessors, first three generations if I’m correct) as how they used to follow the prophet pbuh, and whose a better example (after the prophet pbuh) than the ones who lived during his pbuh time? They were the ones that understood the Sunnah of the prophet SAW better than us!
Lots of groups claim to be Salafi and yet at the same time have wrong beliefs (Aqeedah), commit shirk or Bidah etcetera.... I can go on-and-on about this.. if you want more information or any proof then let me know.
What’s important here is to learn about Aqeedah so you can differentiate the truth from the falsehood and see whose really upon the Sunnah+has sound Aqeedah and whose not.
FYI: Sunni, Salafi, ahlul Hadith etcetera are all the same
May Allaah guide us and make us steadfast upon the deen, Ameen!

      "I ONLY FOLLOW THE SALAF"
Yet you constantly quote Ibn Taymiyyah who lived centuries after the Salaf - meanwhile Abu Hanifah (died 150 AH), Malik bin Anas (d. 179 AH), Ash-Shafi'i (d. 204 AH), and Ahmad bin Hanbal (d. 241 AH) lived during the first 300 years hijri. But somehow Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 724 AH) knows the Salaf better than the Salaf themselves, huh?

3/4 of the video was spent bashing Salafis and the last 1/4 was spent praising Sufis and Shia. So in the end, the main point was to support the people of deviation against the people fighting innovation.
The Prophet saws said in a clear hadith preserved by Imam Muslim in his Sahih that Allah swt never sent a Prophet except that he had disciples who learned from him. Then people came after them who did what those disciples did not do and taught what they had not taught. Whoever strived against these men with his hand then he is a believer. Whoever strived against them with his tongue then he is a believer. Whoever strived against them in his hear then he is a believer. After this, there is no iman.
The Prophet saws was talking about the innovators and those who oppose them and the reward of being a mu'min. Yet people nowadays want to defend them which is the absolute opposite of that narration.

Sorry, I agree with the points that some Muslims are intolerant and are harsh, but I’ve followed some of these brothers on socials. Unfortunately they lack knowledge and shouldn’t be talking on such a matter. Especially speaking on the religion on a public platform. Some of you need to be called out for being clowns. If you want to have a discussion why not sit with people of knowledge and from a separate sect. You can’t sit and spout your wishy washy I feel like this or I feel like that with no basis. Music videos and reposting girls dancing, and hanging out with girls and posting it on socials ruins your credibility. How are you qualified to speak when you do such things. If you know such things are haram and you do it publicly and share it, then you don’t have shame and are openly sinning and therefore not someone who should be talking on such matters . If you are not aware this is sin, then you should also be not talking as you are ignorant. The reason you deny most of the sunnah is because it’s not enjoyable or you don’t ‘think’ it’s right and you are influenced by your environment. No one is perfect, and most of you in the video are known to do certain things which is fine, but don’t talk on the deen of Allah, when you don’t know jack and clearly prioritise your desires. You are not qualified to have an opinion. Go check who they follow on insta if you don’t believe me. I agree that no one is perfect but there’s enough red flags about some of these man that taking pics with scholars or so called saints or writing inspirational bs quotes. Brother you may have a nice voice but doesn’t make you close to god. Adele has a nice voice. Sin if you will, but do not speak on what is haq.

Majority of the Ummah follows Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah (The sect of the mainstream moderate majority probably over 90%), They follow the 4 Imams of Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) (Usually follow one but consider all of them and the opinions in the schools to be perfectly valid). These are the Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi and Hanbali Schools. Additionally they follow the 2 Imams of Creed (Aqeedah), Imam Ashari (ra) and Imam Maturidi (ra) because their views have been the views of the believes of Ahle Sunnah wal Jamaah for centuries. Most groups in the world follow this but have minor differences with each other which really aren't a big deal if you look at them objectively. We definitely shouldn't be going round like some Takfiris from any group do calling people kafir, mushrik or out of Ahle Sunnah wal Jamaah since who are we to judge👍👍👍

3- This deen is global in a sens of community but also individual!
We have our fitra that I think help each one of us navigate in all those different opinions! Allah adresse a message to us! Let not kill our fitra! And rely on Allah. An imam told us once in our training session that those who have humility and sincerity will not be lost Allah will guide them to the truth in one way or another Muslim or not!!!
4- Shaykh Hamza Youssouf said ( I am paraphrasing) we can’t question Islam but we have to question our understanding of Islam.

So salafiyyah is just "harsh" and aggressive? Subhan Allah. I agree a lot of salafies can be harsh. But sometimes these people dont even have knowledge and thus give salafiyyah a bad name. And yes I must admit its a bit hectic over there in the UK in terms of all these refutations etc. But too many generalisations here.
Let's call a spade a spade: Sufism and other groups have a lot of deviancy. So O Muslim brother and sister, research your deen.
And please, don't ever refer to salafi dawah as a "sexy" dawah movement. Seriously.

both movement have no chance when it comes to reason and philosophy. especially sufism has no chance to be 100 certain that islam us true religion. And on the other side the ahadith which claims so true are not even proofe in real life but they will be believed like 100% truth like for salafies in a literal way .
in 100 years there will only dumb believers exist when both movements only growths. but in the end every kind of ways has also good things .

In my opinion, salafiyyah is a stepping stone for many new muslims (or new praticing Muslims). And it’s fine because salafiyyah is very straight-forward and rigorous. The salafis teach a simple Aqidah and avoidance of Shirk and that’s great. It is healthy to start with that and then evolve into Tasawwuf and the nuances of Fiqh and Aqidah.
Salafis are doing a good job of Dawah for the most part, even though the extremists among them are harming the Deen and people’s life a great deal.

Tho some salafis are (as well as Sufis) can get extreme to a point where they only see themselves as the righteous. In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.
    Answer
The Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam said, “My Ummah will be divided into 73 sects. All of them will be in the fire except one.” The people asked him, “And which one will that be?” He replied, “The one that follows what I and my companions are upon right now.” (Sunan Tirmizi & Mishkaatul Masaabeeh p.30 v.1)
Out of the 73 sects there are 8 main groups:
    Mutazilah
    Shia
    Khawarij
    Murjiyah
    Najariyah
    Jabariyah
    Mushabiha
    Naajiyah
Each of the 8 main sects are split up into further branches:
Mutazilah have 20 branches. Shia’s have 22. Khawarij have 20. Murjiyah have 5. Najariyah have 3. Jabariyah, Mushabihah and Najiyaah have one each.
Mutazilah are those that believe that a person does all his actions by himself and there is no say of Allah (SWA) on this. They also believe that one will not be able to see Allah (SWA) on the Day of Judgement and that it is compulsory upon Allah to reward his devout and pious servants and punish his disobedient servants.
Murjiyah are those who believe that when a person says his Kalimah once he will be saved irrespective of how sinful he is.
Najariyah reject the attributes of Allah (SWA) and the speech of Allah (SWA) is like other humans.
Jabariyah believe that humans do not have a say on their actions.
Mushabihah say that Allah (SWA) like humans, has body parts.
Shias follow the religious guidance of the Prophet of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalams’ family (the Ahl al-Bayt) or his descendants known as Shia Imams like Saaiduna Ali Radiallahu Anhu, Saaiduna Hasan and Husain Radiallahu Anhuma etc…
Khawarij are those who initially supported Saaiduna Ali Radiallahu Anhu but later rejected him.
Najiyah are the Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaat.

12:00 of course you have to make sure your belief is correct. In shaa Allah if your belief is correct you'll enter jannah... What are you even talking about. Do you want to teach people about wudu before belief? If someone doesn't have a proper belief and aqeedah in terms of worshipping Allah alone, how will their wudu benefit them? How would any deed benefit someone if they aren't Muslim? Will a non Muslim go to jannah? Is a person with an aqeedah that has shirk in it a Muslim? No he isn't because shirk takes someone out of Islam.

    • @JS-wk7yj
      @JS-wk7yj 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Salaamu alaykum brother,
Aqeedah means belief. When someone uses the word aqeedah, they are referring to the person's beliefs. Did Allah not tell you how to believe in him in the Qu'ran? Did prophet Muhammed peace be upon him not tell you how to believe in Allah?
The principles of ‘aqeedah are those which Allaah has commanded us to believe in, as mentioned in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):
"The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allaah, His Angels, His Books and His Messengers. They say, ‘We make no distinction between one and another of His Messengers’ - and they say, ‘We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all).’" [al-Baqarah 2:285]
So we hear and obey what has been sent down to us...
Don't confuse the word 'aqeedah' to be singled out and taught to us. Use the English word if you prefer. Your belief. Going back to the point. If your belief is corrupted and has shirk in it then you will go to jahanam. What is our belief??? Belief in what Allah has commanded us with and revealed to us through his messenger peace be upon him.
So if we don't believe in what Allah has commanded us with in terms of shirk then we won't be Muslims...
Do I make sense in what I'm saying?
Your statements of our rasool, peace be upon him not teaching us aqeedah is a mistake akhi. Because what he taught us is to do with our belief... For example his teaching us the five pillars of Islam. That's our belief... Its necessary and he taught us it. He just didn't use the word aqeedah...
Also I don't know what cult you're talking about. May Allah guide us ameen.
I'm a Muslim just like I've been commanded. Submit to Allah. Islam...

    • @JS-wk7yj
      @JS-wk7yj 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Witness Truth thanks for pointing out the translation error
When I mentioned aqeedah initially I was referring to belief system. When I wrote. If someone's aqeedah has shirk in it. I was referring to their belief system. If it is corrupted with shirk, then it is a big problem.
Yes no one is telling anyone to follow a text of aqeedah. The scholars have simply written texts of explaining the correct belief system to make understanding the deen easier and more accessible for the people so that they can stay grounded on what is right in shaa Allah. Also what are you saying by concept of aqeedah? Just because you translate a word from عقد to contract in English doesn't mean you have the understanding of an Arabic term in totality as words have various meanings and derivatives. But honestly my initial comment wasn't about the discussion of the word aqeedah
