  • It may come as a surprise to some, but Nairobi is known as the London of Africa. And it's not unusual to see Europeans flocking its streets. More recently, though, more and more Africans have also been making Nairobi their home. CCTV's Maria Galang follows one South African living in the Kenyan capital

    Nairobi is actually the best place in Africa Kenya as a whole is a wonderful country..... Apart from the corrupt police and small thieves then u will love it there...if u can deal with those two

      Of course he has the American accent! But worry not, the people are extremely friendly and visitors are always treated well.

      You will be treated like you have been a friend or family member forever. I had a great time while I was there. The trip is worth it. Go around the Christmas holidays. Flights may be a bit more expensive but it is well worth it.

      Prudent Student i live in Nairobi & i can tell u for a fact youll be treated in the most hospitable manner whether African american or white. The only way the locals would identify youre not from around is by your American accent. Hv a Safe journey & i hope you do enjoy your stay!

    I'm Kenyan, its a beautiful country with a lot to explore. The only problem with Nairobi is poor drainage system, hectic traffic, wrecked roads, name it. I hope all these will soon be solved. Otherwise it's an amazing city.

    No place in the world like Nairobi. You'll fall in love and never want to leave. Also, the number of expats cited in the video has grossly underrated. Trust me. Some just don't have papers so are not counted.

    Mombasa is the best city in Kenya. It's a costal city with beautiful beaches. I am from Somalia I lived in Mombasa little over 3 years. This was back in the early 90s life was very cheap though back the. We had Great experience indeed

    What a great host Theo is! So, compared to a city of Seattle's population of 2 million, how big is Nairobi? Yes I'm sure it would have some difficulties, but travel is so expanding to a person's attitude. It would be cool to go.

      Excuse me Sarah, is it safe for a Celtic philanthropist? For example if I buy bread for starving kids will some opportunist guys try to steal from me or think I'm rich? (I don't have much but what I do have is spent on people less fortunate)

      Boaz Nyakachunga I am thinking of traveling to Nairobi in a couple of months. Is it safe. I see that in April they had the college shooting. I also see the US has a travel warning.

      Nairobi is very safe as far as security is concerned. Shooting happened in Northern Kenya that is largely Islamic but security has been beefed up since then. We understand the western media have a tendency to exaggerate the negative happenings in Africa but for me I feel very safe here. I'd recommend for anyone to visit Nairobi or Kenya in general.
