funny story, i hadn't thought of putting both gray and pink steven in the same scene doing the head lift thingie until i accidentally put the frame of pink on top of the frame of gray and the layer i put it on happened to be inverted. So. they appeared and I was like LOL wait. this is cool.

I mean, pretty sure a big part of why human!Steven was dying in CYM was because he got dropped from a big height, plus I guess his heart's pretty weak without the gem supplying energy. But he seemed better while he was touching gem!Steven, so, as long as they're hugging... idk. I think the colors were also a part of it, (idk I just picked it up) but it had the pibk wings underneath the regular grey-blue ones and the colorations match up with pink Steven and regular Steven, so maybe it could be refering to how pink Steven shows through regular Steven?

I love this so much! Its beautiful! I just love how this animatic conveys both Steven and Pink Steven. They're two entirely different beings yet they are literally the same person. I know its so much deeper than that but I am incapable of understanding human emotions, but this is just marvelous.

This made me realize how much everything is worth. This made me feel that there are two people that make up you, One is your feelings and one is your brain and how you take those feelings. To me the pink steven represents how he takes his feelings and normal steven is his feelings. He had way to many feelings about many situations and his brain couldn't handle it. The brain had convinced itself that "i am a monster" and as long as thats how he felt, thats what he was. This shows that take one thing at a time instead of solving everything at once. That its ok who you are and that you are allowed to make mistakes. But most importantly....

LIKE, OH MY GOODNESS!!!! the motion,,, the emotion,,,, the animation, meaningful imagery, the subtle complexity and quaint feeling of it all,,,,, exquisite. I adore how it explores a more quiet side of Steven, a bit sad, a bit tender, hesitant. We don't see that very often, he's a pretty emotional boy and the fandom largely likes to focus more on those louder emotions. I adore this so so much, I think it might be my favorite SU animation ever now, good Lord

oh!! my gosh!! those motions are so clean especially in that dance segment, and that transition to beetle (and landing on stevens hand on top of that)? CHILLS! that turned out amazing, your style depicts him(them?) so well!!

Aw, your name in the corner has a liitle flickering grin, how did i not notice that the first like 5 times i watched it! But seriously i cannot stop revisiting this it is GORGEOUS and somehow growing on me even more as i rewatch it. the wonderful song choice, the happy, loving, yet still moody tone like one of those hugs thats so warm but the circumstances make u feel all wiggly in the tummy, the shine in the eyes, how some things are left up to interpretation like the tears and one of them evaporating (he feels better but still has a ways to go? Hes healing but now its happy tears, or still always gonna be an emotional person through what he goes through but its no longer blocking his vision? Two stevens, two tears?), the EYELASHES, peeps have already mentioned the beetle symbolism and nail polish but im mentionin it again cause YUS. WHY DOESNT THIS GOT MORE VIEWS.
My favorite part beside the artstyle and atmosphere tho is definitely the animation, especially at the dance scene. So wholesome and joyfilled and flowy and smooth. I love how in the dance pink looks sad for a sec, like hes worried stevens still mad at him. But steven gives him a reassuring smile and they both cheer up as they love themself and meld as steven guides him. Then just as quick and smooth they sont pull or force apart so much as f l y apart, pink leading for a sec making steven float this time. Such a strange, but really good feel strangeness you know couldnt happen literally in the show but is borderline hypnotic and would still be perfect for scene in show, a montage in stevens head of him slowly learning to love the guy hes been so scared of, a montage waltz summarizing how mindful education wise stevens been slowly growing peace and harmony by taking a break for a dance once in awhile over the course of his months of healing.
However you take it, its just sucha pure and innocent scene but also makes me just as sad as happy. Not really sad, but like that finishing your favorite video game and being so satisfied yet realizin youll never be able to play wind waker or discover over the garden wall for the first time again. Now were gettin thst with su and this summarizes that so perfectly with this sad song and happy animation about an amazing show i adore but still wish theyd given something like this for showing closure visually with steven and pink s and his mom with a trippy good thing like this and WHY MUST YOU MAKE ME FEEL THESE THINGS YOU TALENTED MONSTER I CANT STOP WATCHING. this is one of my favorite steven universe animations now, wtfudge my heart. Bless jakeneutron for recommendin this beauty.
