Change isn’t easy, Steven is suffering inconsistencies in his mood because he’s going through mood swings, like any teenager would. People say the problem with Steven in SUF is he acts uncharacteristically because of the changes going on around him, and he’s acting hypocritical because he helped others accept change around him. What people miss about this is although Steven has been helping people grow and change, he never knew how to do that for himself, and it’s especially hard for him to do that now because teenagers have the hardest time trying to adjust to the changes going on around them with both their peers and themselves. I was a teenager once, so I know how it feels to have had mood swings as strong as what Steven had this season, it’s common for most teenagers who act out when things around them are changing so abruptly. As I myself am in my 20’s and am about to graduate from school this year and am feeling very emotional saying goodbye to large portions of my development, AKA, most of the shows from the past decade and the friends I’ve met along the way, as well as saying goodbye to everyone who’s helped me in my school get to where I am now as well as move on from the shows I’ve grown up with and am ready for who and whatever else lie ahead, I related to this issue Steven is having as it is probably the most emotional ark in Steven Universe for me personally, I don’t like everything in the ark(I thought proposing to Connie to trap her in a fusion as Stevonnie was dumb as that’s not how marriage works, and it’s Garnet’s fault for giving him a weird idea of how marriage works(just because gems have the choice to stay forever fused like what Ruby and Sapphire did when they got married, it doesn’t mean that humans can fuse into each other when they get married two, humans can’t fuse, BTW, even though Steven is half human, I still found this weird because he also has no plans for how they’ll live together), but I related to the moments when Steven lashes out at Greg and the gems, his family who love and care about him so much, I remember always lashing out at my family when we disagreed on something, add onto that my mood swings and teenage hormones also always interfering, this is pretty common for a lot of teens with anxiety issues. I may have elaborated too much on the marriage thing, but I know what I’ve said about everything else. I just don’t think the internet knows how teenagers act.🙄😒
I couldn't cry after the finale because my brother was watching it with me because he likes the show (he's older then me) so when he left he said it was a good ending and then I ugly cried.
I thought I was done crying but this brought it up again. Steven was so damaged by all the trauma. Connie was such a badass, coming to the rescue...but will anyone be there for her, when the trauma of life as a child soldier catches up with her?
