Wow, they've come a LONG way from the early prototype they teased before. All the extra complications were evidence for thorough testing and engineering. This is a difficult product to design. Respect to them for finishing this project!
I talked extensively with the engineer on the project. Ot took well over a year of hard work and trials to work out all the details and get them into production.
Thank you for this video. Apex is smart to include you guys in their testing, and was a large reason why I just bought a set. You know what you are talking about and really instilled confidence that this will fit my rig. I can't believe it's finally here!
Looks good! I always recommend ditching the Sway Bar as soon as you upgrade your front suspension. I’ll recommend these to the ones with the Pro versions of the Tacoma/4runner. Keep up the good work guys 🙌🏻
Those are big money and quite an interesting install for sure. I'm gonna wait to get them and see how your long-term video goes and get some other upgrades in the meantime, but if they hold up over time, they seem like they will be a worthy investment. It definitetly seems like an improvement over the other disconnects you featured a while back.
Thank you. I have the same disconnect you did and for sure all you say about them is true. Maybe I will buy these, however I am considering upgrade to portals from Werewolf, so it comes with new spindles. Maybe Apex will also make version for portals...
Looks like an awesome product. If this was around a year ago i would've tried it. I cut off my front sway bar and have been happy without it. I just wont let anyone drive my 4runner for their safety. I drive a semi for a living so the extra body roll doesn't bother me
I am pretty amped for this. Been running no front sway bar for over a year and have gotten over most issues with crafty spring, bump stop, driving, and shock tuning, but wife still has a hard time driving it. I'm sure answers will come in time, but I am wondering if these can be used with icon resevior Mounts, any spindle gusseting, and run without the air piston for those of us that can't weld.
Love this design! I don't see anything about it on their website yet, just some "Autolynx" disconnect for Wranglers and Gladiators. If this works out, I'd love to see them add a variant for 100 series Land Cruisers.
I build my 2020 4Runner based on your videos. With that, I have the same ToyTec suspension you have in your 4Runner. I just finished installing the KWUIKLINX on mine, and the swaybar and the screw to the lower part of the Kwiklix touches my Tottec 2.0 coilovers. Do you have any info on installs with ToyTec suspension? Just curious of your input.
very cool product but sadly I don't think this will work for my setup. I'm running total chaos gussets with 2+ long travel with their extended swaybar.
Wonder how alignment differences will affect its performance. Super intersted in getting a set for my 4runner though. Any talk about cost or availability of the kit?
Another great Toyota video! I never tried any of the other quick disconnects because they looked so janky. These look like they are going to function properly and last for a while. I’ll have to figure out something for my sway bar relocation adapter because it holds my shot reservoir. How far forward do have to move it? Again great video, thanks! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
It moves about as far forward as a standard relocation bracket BUT, to keep the proper geometry for the air cylinder the swaybar can't be lower than stock.
Good video. Be careful with your 4Runner with the spindle gussets. Recently someone welded on those and his spindle snapped in half and he was stranded. Wasn't even off roading hard either. I guess welding on the cast iron compromises the strength of them. So added gussets does more harm than good.
I just received my set of these from APEX. Man, they look SOLID. I am curious what one would do in the unfortunate but very real scenario of busting a CV and having to change trailside with these quick links installed. It looks like the best thing would be to simply take it off the ball joint threads so the spindle can move enough out of the way to get the CV out. Hard to tell without the real deal in front of me. What do you think? Thanks!
I’ve been waiting a long time for these. Kinda disappointed how involved the install is. Wasn’t expecting all the cutting and welding just for disconnects. And I’m a bit worried how much this is gonna cost for parts and after install. The old style sliders have issues, but price and simplicity might outweigh these. I guess we’ll see.
Question, what uca's are those? Asking because I just received my KWIKLYNX for my 3rd gen tacoma. Unfortunately I may have to swap out my UCAs, which I love (Icon Delta Joint) because the ball joint thread, which the KWIKLYNX connect to, have an M14 X 2.0 thread and the KWIKLYNX require an M14 X 1.5. So what uca are you using and pros/cons? Also, suggestions on how to resolve this if i want to keep my UCAs (does Apex offer an alternative?)?
SWAYBAR DISCOS LMAO I took my swaybar off completely 15 years ago and HAVE NEVER HAD APROBLEM on my 2ndgen 4runner !!!! As a race car driver there are times for them but dam you sure dont need them on a TOY on the street! Yup the first few times It was kinda scary but NEVER LOOKED BACK !!! DISCOS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY
I'm very interested in this, but I need to know if this will work for a 2nd Gen Tacoma or not. Apex Performance does not seem to be answering their phones nor returning calls. If you can reach out and confirm that would be helpful for many people. Otherwise, not a great intro so far to their company.
The clamp and better end links are clever, and probably valuable improvements. Everything else? What the hell is this overcomplicated nonsense? Did a bunch of marketers hire a machinist and a Moab native to just slap a bunch of SEMA ideas together?
@@WanderlostOverland I'm an engineer. I am also incredulous that there weren't cheaper and easier, albeit less flashy, ways to accomplish the same result. Those clamps are clever, for example - why didn't they use the clamps and end links as a substitute for the other kit that you ran for a while? Why the need for welding to heat treated frame rail to mount tensioning air pistons on heavily modified sway bars? Hell, if you're modifyind the sway bars and the frame, why not just cut the sway bar entirely and use an electro-mechanical clutch interface akin to what Jeep does?
I don't know these seem just a bit overly complicated design, quite a bit of work just seems overly complicated just seems like to me overly designed none simplistic, and that riveting sway bar back on doesn't seem very secure, and the price $750 and you have to buy a tool special rivet gun and then you have to weld, I don't know it just seems overly over, I say hey ditch the sway bar I believe it rides just good enough on the road and you'll be happy off road so much better!!!!! There's got to be a simpler design out there and maybe something for like say 500 dollars for a base model install.

UPDATE: It seems that Apex has pushed back the release of their swaybar disconnects. I'm sure it won't be long though.
Thanks! I've been checking their website daily. Anxiously anticipating the release.

👋 looking forward to your next video
my question is , when are you getting them? lol I'll be waiting for your video Kai
It has been a year since they mentioned it. I always following up but now they did it. Ready for the new mod to on my FJ.
Unfortunately this wouldn't work for my FJ due to longer control arms.@@bqn719
This is such good news! I've been running the "other" disconnects on my 4Runner and can't wait to ditch them. Thanks for the quality content as usual!
Your videos are a huge reason why my Tacoma is a freaking beast now. Information builds confidence! Thanks for the extreme quality videos!
Glad to hear it!

Very nice to see this developed for the 4runner or FJ. Simple and reliable.

very cool product but sadly I don't think this will work for my setup. I'm running total chaos gussets with 2+ long travel with their extended swaybar.
Love the videos. I think i am getting a set of these.
Go for it!
Just have some limiting straps that sounds good enough for me
So they aren’t compatible with the total chaos spindle gussets that have the sway bar mounts?
Great Videos!! Would you add a differential drop when adding a 2” Lift to the 4 runner?
We have them on both our vehicles, but I don't think they make a huge difference.
Wonder how alignment differences will affect its performance. Super intersted in getting a set for my 4runner though. Any talk about cost or availability of the kit?
It will be available any day now. As far as pricing, I have no number yet.
RIVNUTS in the chassis holding the sway bar on ,,,lol good luck with that..

Gotcha👍🏻, thank you for the reply and info! 💪🏻💪🏻
Sorry if this sounds naive but is this the same as Toyota's KDSS? If not could you explain the difference?
Any updates on how they’re holding up?
Glad I have KDSS
When will Apex’s website have these available? (They’re losing business by not being ready when Wanderlost’s video goes live.)
I'm told within the next couple of weeks.
How do you have your rear sway bar set up on the FJ and 5th gen? Just extended links?
@WanderLostOverland
Update/use review video coming?
Awesome. Thanks for the great video!
Glad you liked it!

Thanks for the heads up, but the Toyota spindles are forged steel.
@@WanderlostOverland whatever the steel is not sure but welding to them compromises the integrity.

When removing the CV axle we typically disconnect the spindle (knuckle) at the bottom and swing the entire assembly up and rearward.
@WanderlostOverland Would spindle gussets be able to be modified in such a way to make these fit?
I won't say no, but I haven't come across a way to make them work.

just take it to a shop. That's what I'm doing with mine.
I'm so stoked
Wonder if the 3rd Gen Tacoma will be the same for installation?
It is.
What other models do these fit if any?
How is the Kit holding out? Any issues or all is good.
Those would’ve been really cool to have sub $500. They’re higher than giraffe ass, at $750 for the pair.

Do you have a link for these and would these work on the 4runner?

not being able to have spindle gussets is a deal killer for me. too bad.
When can I order this ?
So, is this going to work on 2nd and 3rd gen Tacoma's as well?
Third Gen most likely!

$700 😂😂😂
