- Today I Play through Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time with only the babies!
Rules:
-You do not talk about Fight Club.
-No using adults in battle. Boss battles let the adults get knocked out so only the babies fight.
-No using adults to collect items.
-No using adults to reach places you couldn't with just the babies. Unless it is a required area.
-Must fight all enemies.
-Have fun!

When I played this game as a kid I put all the stats for the babies into stache cause I thought if I put enough points in the babies would grow a mustache.

So a quick thing I will add is I see a lot of people commenting that a suck at dodging. There’s a couple reasons for that.
1. I’m definitely not the best dodger.
2. On emulator attacks that come from the top screen are a lot harder to dodge on emulators.
3. A lot of Baby Mario’s deaths happened when I was still learning the enemies attacks.
4. I only showed the times where I was doing bad cause they were important.
5. It’s easier to dodge attacks as the adults because they jump higher and that’s more so what I’m used to.
6. I ran baby Mario in a way where he would get one shot by everything (Not my smartest idea.) So I couldn’t have error with him.
So yeah just wanted to clear the air on that. You can still comment that I suck at dodging but here’s a few reasons why I did worse than normal

When I was editing the boss fight I realized that. And even in the fight I did get better at counter attacking it. But I thought the whole sitting on my face was funnier so I just went with it. No one cares about Princess Shroob’s fight anyways 💀

Btw since you used an emulator *cough* it didn't render Princess Shroob's bubble transparency properly.
That's why you never saw her laugh. Covered by the opaque bubble.
On an actual Nintendo DS (or an emulator that does the job properly), the bubble doesn't flash like hell blocking your view, it's just mostly translucent with a screen line animation.
@@bigwee125Nah. It's due to the video only being 30fps so only half the frames are shown. It's a common thing with 60fps games being uploaded in 30fps. It screws up many effects like this.

Trust me I’m well aware why baby Mario kept dying. I was mainly playing it up for the bit. The reason I wasn’t reviving him is the fact that I had limit supply of one ups. Something I should have added in the video was about how hard it was without all the free items you get from the over world. Like I played the game normally a few months ago and I never even had to buy any bro items and barely bought items

You made this challenge way harder than it had to be by improving always the same stats. The game encourages you to spread those bonuses and it gives you higher numbers if you do so: Baby Mario would receive much more attack if you improve HP, def and stache and ignore attack for three levels, for example. Still, this was a neat idea and I enjoyed all the video
Whenever it was 1s and 2s as the bonus I would up a different stat but yeah definitely wasn’t the smartest idea running Baby Mario like that

Real pros only upgrade attack since all attacks are dodgeable.
This is just normal gameplay but the A and B buttons are broken
Ironically, I actually just beat this game for the first time yesterday. It’s a bit rough around the edges and it definitely needed a remake more than Bowsers inside story but it was still a really good game. Best final boss in the entire series. I am obviously talking about elder princess Shroob. No body cares about Showser
Yes this game is definitely still my favourite in franchise. (I haven’t played the 3DS ones.) but the bosses take forever but I love most of them
@@NiftyKiller the bosses are one of my major complaints with the game. A lot of the fights just drag out for far too long. In the Japanese version of the game a lot of the bosses have substantially less health. Besides the princess Shroob fights, I honestly think partners in time has the worst bosses in the series. I would recommend trying the 3DS games at some point if you’re a fan of the series. Dream team is pretty good and well paper jam is undoubtably the weakest game in the series, It’s gameplay is at least good. The remakes of superstar saga and bowsers inside story are also great thanks to the quality of life features added, but if you’ve already played the originals there isn’t really that much reason to play them. The Bowsers minions and Bowser juniors journey side modes have fantastic stories but their gameplay most people don’t really care for so you could just look up there cut scenes online if you really wanted to
@@barelyhere7200 I think there was a revised NA version of this game in 2009 or 2010 that fixes this issue. Because on my childhood copy of Partners in Time the bosses took me roughly 15 minutes compared to the half hour battles I went through on DS emulators. Cold be wrong tho, but I noticed bosses aren't that dragged out now and I can beat the game in 16 hours

@@ekSil0Moreso the opposite, the game was released in America first. Subsequent releases for Japan and European regions reduced the HP of a lot of enemies and bosses.
I really wanna see the underleveled adults on some of these bosses seeing the babies outdamage them on the attacks that take 4 bros would look cursed as hell

Fun fact: I finished this specific game 5 times, knows it almost perfectly, and I just found out about this goofy ah alternate animation for missing with the hammer YESTERDAY, and you know why ?

the whack part about babies only is that very technically, assuming no equipment and stache only with the minimum sweetspot level of 23, its technically impossible and/or TAS only to beat Elder Princess Shroob's 2nd phase,
primarily cuz her foot has 400 hp, the arms+crown got 200 hp each
and her 3-leg sweep has a chance of being unavoidable(can become too fast to be jumped over, or you get hit as it speeds up.)
like you're basically on a soft-timer until that unavoidable attack happens.
I can confirm 23's the sweet spot cuz of the Nerve mode challenge I did in PiT awhile back, which was:
no heals, no equipment/badges, no buying bros items(game provides you with enough of them+Mrs thwomp is a goldmine for Green shell/Ice Flowers), Stache only on level up, +1 level per area(explained below), and finally Death=Reset.
the game really emphasizes how important it is having all 4 bros alive in this challenge, like the babies legit can't do a thing alone even w/bros items without gear.
cuz of PiT's unique level scaling, the Adult bros, esp Weegee, can live exactly 1 hit of the tentacle sweep.
I can confirm Level 18-19's the lowest w/+1 level per area(+2 levels allowed, +1 level per boss, cuz 2 bosses an area.) and you can deff beat the game at this level, but its legit a whole TAS at that point cuz of how high the hp is, the damage you do is pathetic due to no gear, and the Pocket Chomp's very unreliable in the 2nd phase until you get rid of everything+Crown.
so I consider Elder Princess Shroob's Phase 1 to be the true final boss at level 19.
the interesting part is, Elder Shrooboid is the massive rng check, cuz whenever it does its Spin-To-win attack you just die.
I can confirm it's literally unavoidable, even though from what I've seen, it either takes exactly 4, or, more than 4 Hammer counters to stop Elder Shrooboid's spin attack, w/more than 4 meaning you lose a bro.
from what I've learned its deff cuz the Hammer counter in PiT is just not made for countering multiple times that fast-
So Technically Elder Shrooboid's a run-ender, but its more a massive rng check as explained, cuz of the one unavoidable spin-to-win attack it can do but at least its pretty possible.
esp since the Red Shell is legit a "Rhythm minigame", where once you figure out the audio cue on the "GREAT!" when it hits, filling in the blanks for any Lucky hit sound effect you hear,
it deff gets easier to infinite with 🤔
even more whack is that PiT's level up roulette is deff bugged. I tried to get Stache +2 at level 3 after getting +3 at level 2, but apparently even when you literally press the A button exactly where the 2 would be or will land, it literally goes to +1.
so you're just stuck w/+1 Stache forever the whole game, which's actually good cuz it makes completing da Nerve mode challenge of PiT way easier w/no need to reset.💀
55:47 So these lasers being pointed up or down is dependant on the white lines being drawn to its mouth (when the background darkens).
If it's straight, direct lines, its pointed on the floor.
If it swirls (curves) into the mouth, it shoots the air instead.
The timestamp provided shows both actions back to back.
It's one of the more obscure tells this game throws out of nowhere while initially distracting you on who it beams first (steam pointed left or right).
And while not mentioned in the video, the Boom Guys responses to a delayed attack depends if they put both their hands on the cannon (instant) or if they point at the Bro instead (delayed). Though I'll chalk that one up to Emulator since Blue Boom Guys are frankly a little too quick unless you are very intentive.
Most of my time playing through this game (across 10+ completed files, some being farmed to Lv 99) I also leveled up the way you did, Mario being a cannon and Luigi being a tank.
Their natural stat growth (no selective bonus modifier) already skews in this favor so I figured I might as well go all in with the game.

As a kid I played nearly the whole game without upgrading their gear and only focusing on pow got to elder princess shroob and stopped. Years later I decided to do a challenge where its no gear, badges, or shop. End result it's definitely possible but it got really difficult near the end with the 2nd phase elder shroob, I beat her after an hour and a half of my 4th attempt on the fight. Its nice to see other people doing challenge runs as well, I was also considering babies only but looks like you beat me to it lol. 1:08:21 I felt your pain here when doing the no gear run, pretty much 2 hits and both bros go down

I was actually thinking how cool that would be. Could have even been a cool Easter egg fight in Bowsers Inside Story for Bowser too (like the Shroob fight for Mario and Luigi.) But yeah it was just a missed opportunity.

I cannot tell you how many times I accidentally revived one of the adults when I meant to revive one of the babies. It drove me insane. Also Luigi possibly being into pet play is the least surprising thing in the world

Woah, what's with the volcano hate? I actually really like this section and love the Bowser fight. Like it's a top 5 Bowser fight of all time for me.

BTW For the Snoozorbs, when it inhales to charge the lazer you have to look at the beams. If they go into its mouth straight it aims directly at the bro but if it spirals then it goes above

We need a partners in time remake after brothership. Superstar saga and bowsers inside story got remakes partners in time is owed. Maybe we can see the peach and Bowser sides in the remake
It would be cool to see. But I think it’s too late honestly. Without the two screens it would really change the game. I’d love to see a sequel to it tho, but I also doubt that

When i played this game as a kid, I made sure that babies are god (with Max POW cheat) but even with their strongs attacks the final boss is not easy (and because I only increased the HP in each level)

Could be a fun challenge! I’ve never played any of the 3DS games but I want to play them. If you know how to emulate them please let me know cause I can’t find a 3DS emulator

@@NiftyKiller the default Gear for Dream Team's really interesting because I can confirm its actually impossible w/o badges late-game if you do Jump/Hammer only and alternate +1 level per boss via Stache+Pow on level up(so level 2 Stache, level 3 Pow, and so on).
mostly due to 2 specific problem bosses in Mammoshka and Wiggler 🤔
mostly cuz while Mammoshka and Wiggler are deff possible w/Jump/Hammer only, they're both the most inconsistent bosses in the game, Mammoshka cuz its Boulder throw's inconsistent even if you time it right, and its chase attack has little warning as to if it speeds up or slows down.
wiggler's only extremely inconsistent attack is the enraged Shockwave. as far as I can tell it has literally 0 tell if its gonna be normal-fast or very slow, and you're always primed for the normal-fast shockwave so the slow one just gets you easily.
I'll deff confirm that Tork-screw is The early-game wall in Jump/Hammer only. 656 hp w/both bros at level 8(+1 level per area, you're required to get the +1 Badge stock effect at level 8's Shell rank for Heavy Zest+Beef Cloud),
the underground poke really just nukes you very easily cuz of how it intentionally goes slower 💀
I played this game for the first time ever last december, and the final boss took me forever to beat even when i was a fairly high level and had all of the best bros moves. Congrats on doing that
I remember when I first played this game a very rare glitch occurred for me where I soft locked, the game in the first hammer bro tutorial battle against the spinys had to reset and redo the boss fight all over again I still have it recorded on my phone it totally blew my mind even to this day

How did they remake bowsers inside story before this game
This game definitely deserves a remake. But honestly I don’t like the look of the bowsers inside story remake.
To my knowledge, they remade bowser’s inside story because of its popularity. Partners in time needs a remake.
They remade it first because Bowser's Inside Story was much more popular.
Partners in Time is good, but it's definitely the least popular of the first three by a landslide.

What dedication! When i was little, I literally had to use just the babies for the final boss because i used up all my 1-ups. It was quite intense because the battles are back to back. Baby Mario did the final blow as he carried baby Luigi on his back 🙏❤️

Also fun fact elder princess shroob 1st phase has a secret attack, she opens a time hole and send a chain chomp through it to attack it a few turns, I have never seen it I just know it’s possible

I always thought Petey Piranha was wearing a speedo or something but this game revealed that he’s actually wearing a diaper and I don’t know how to feel about that. Anyway this was a fantastic video. If you ever make future videos about Mario and Luigi challenges I’ll definitely be watching

Did you play the eu or the us version of the game? I am asking because the us version is actually more grindy due to bosses having a insane amount of more hp than both the eu and jp versions of the game.
Yeah I read about that. I played the US version. That’s the version I grew up with so I’m used to the grind. But yeah the bosses take ridiculously long.

Did you play the European or US version of the game.
US version is in my opinion the better version because it doubles all the HP of all the enemies and makes the game feel more balanced overall as a result.
If you played the European version, then you are a coward. that is unless you just didn't know.
