I enjoyed the debate. The world we live in is overrun by thecnology and this technology depends on a powerful energy. For us to get that energy we need to have nuclear industries. The nuclear industries have two side. Zone side which is positive and the other one negative. But what I noticed from the video none of the debaters emphasize the negative side of the nuclear power.
The moderator didn't allow panellists to exhaust arguments. Nuclear disasters are definitely unwelcome but so can collapse of a dam. As an engineer I will say that it's an opportunity cost of what options you have and the cost per Megawatt of power generation. Green energy is best but not always available for grid distribution as a base load.
I am from India, what I think it's a good platform to improve communication skills but that anchors disturbing more in the middle of the conversation.. Good job srikumar sir and other people on the penal.. Love my India

As far as nuclear energy being a weapon, yes this is a risk. But we have countries with nuclear weapons now. They are industrially developed countries and have intercontinental missiles, nuclear submarines, and stealth bombers to engage in first strikes. Now that is really dangerous. Pre-industrialized countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East do not have the ability to build nuclear power plants, intercontinental missiles, nuclear submarines, or stealth bombers. So what is the problem about proliferation? If the developed, industrialized countries of Europe (including Russia) and North America do not engage in thermo-nuclear war then it cannot happen. As far as Mr. Pieter Droege (President of Eurosolar) who is very knowledgable but he is also deceptive. Yes, solar radiation (sunglight) is free. But Mr. Droege's solar panels and power-storage batteries are not. You have to buy the solar panels and batteries from Mr. Droege's privately-owned for-profit companies. Plus solar panels do not generate enough power to meet electric power demand. When the sun goes down you must have the storage batteries to store electrical power. The rare earth elements and special metals needed to make solar panels and storage batteries must be mined. This mining process is extremely harmful to the environment. Currently we simply cannot access the elements in sufficient quantity from deep under the earth's surface to make the solar panels and batteries. Germany is famous for its strip mining industrial process to access coal. Germany is highly dependent on coal-fire electrical power plant. Germany also uses nuclear power to generate electricity, so Mr. Droege is being deceptive like English Brexiteers' Leave EU campaign. Fukushima is an easy target, because of its sensationalistic news value. Japan is at high-risk for severe earthquakes, so its geology is not ideal for nuclear power generation. But for geologically stable countries nuclear energy should be developed and made safer which in turn will be cheaper. Then there is the gentleman who was the president of Nigeria. There are many third-world countries like United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Brunei, Kingdom of Saudia Arabia, ... who have fossil fuel as a natural resource and the kings or emirs (which another form of absolute power ruler) seem to have created a comfortable social-welfare state for its people. Why is that Nigeria cannot? Isn't Nigeria a democracy and has oil as a natural resource?
