This is a masterclass of how to perform live. everything he does is done right and at the right time. It must of been hard to hold back and sing so delicately for almost the whole song before introducing the power at the most perfect time
Priceless!!! I saw this performed live in concert and that was so heartfelt when he sang it. I never thought this was a song that should be redone because it was such an iconic song. But I'm here to tell ya wow was I wrong ! Disturbed brought new life to a classic! 🤙
This will forever be my favorite song of theirs ❤️👏🙌 I believe that I read somewhere that he was taught opera, I absolutely love the way he brings grit and classical together in this song. 🥰
I just had the privilege of seing this live this past Friday night (1/19/2024)...I immediately had tears sliding down my face when they brought out the piano n the 2 chairs for the violin n cello players...The audience went nuts when they realized what song was being played next🤗 David was also fighting a bad sinus infection that night also...Definitely didn't distract from his performance that night😊
Love this. His voice live and just this version of the song. There is just something about this this live.. Also heard he was sick during this performance and his throat was f up. Some saying he had surgery... Idk what is true but iv seen more comments about him being sick so... But still... He absolutely murdered it..
@@cherylb309 Yea i really like this song. And i have to say i like the live version better the recorded version. Its like Chris Stapleton..their voice really comes through and shines when they so live performances.
Saw Disturbed recently. Absolutely amazing. When this song came on, piano and all, the crowd went crazy and then quiet. Everyone was swaying and singing. Too beautiful
Love it love it love it!!! I'm a lady tenor and this guy blew my mind. Thank u. And what I love about your reactions is when you are moved. You transform into some sort of angel!
This is an awesome cover! Disturbed has put true meaning behind the words of ‘Sound of Silence’. It could almost have been untouchable after Simon & Garfunkel’s version. But they took a risk, and turned it into a masterpiece!
No hes a baritone he can hit both tenor and bass. I am soprano that can also hit tenor low notes. it's complicated. He's a baritone. He can hit it all. Even some soprano notes he just has a beautiful voice. Seen him live a few times. Always awesome
It's so funny because I had most of Disturbed's albums and one of them they busted out with "Darkness" which was the first ballad I ever heard this graveled voiced David ever do and thought it would take a week to pick my mouth off the floor. I mean, I know NOW he's operatically trained, but holy hell, I never expected THAT, and then, years later, they did THIS and I am STILL floored by it. He is one of the greatest singers of our time that would have been absolutely passed by because he leads a heavy metal band. People need to learn to get out of their ruts and explore, and I'm so glad you have channel that helps others do that!
❤👍Amen to that! Great comments, when I first heard his version of this song, I listened to a few others of there's and was pleasantly surprised! Watched his demeanour in concert, such a great guy with his interactions!! Glad I went down the rabbit hole!!😮❤❤
It's hard to say when a cover is better than the original, like Farnsey with Help but i think Disturbed's version is ten times than the original by Simon & Garfunkel which is hard to say as they were both brilliant even tho they disliked each other behind the scenes. This version just gives me literal goosebumps each time I've watched & heard this live version of this song, beautiful
This version was on Conan. Closest to what I've heard in concert th-cam.com/video/Bk7RVw3I8eg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ueV2EayvcFmxdGhU Sounds less auto-tuned ?!?
I've read that Dave really was pissed off with the auto-tune. This version is not edited or auto-tuned. Love to hear the gravely voice! Check it out! th-cam.com/video/Bk7RVw3I8eg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ueV2EayvcFmxdGhU
He almost wasn't able to perform that day as he was running a high fever and had the flu. He was very sick. That, and he's still awesome singing live!
I didn’t realize as you haven’t seen this. This is one of the best performances I’ve ever seen.

The vocals, piano, strings, kettle drums, lighting, composition… they nailed it

Wow! How phenomenal for you 🙏🙏❤️
@@jorice5528 It was amazing 😊
I saw him recently too. Absolutely amazing. My audience were swaying and singing and I was crying and singing

@Danny_R_ Amazing song so powerful!

He had the flu, fever and that’s why he was sitting down. He was going to cancel.
He was a trained cantor. So had had classical training
Mesmerizing for sure! What a voice!

The way the song shoukd be sung, with piwerful raw emotion.
Love it love it love it!!! I'm a lady tenor and this guy blew my mind. Thank u. And what I love about your reactions is when you are moved. You transform into some sort of angel!
I hardly ever say a cover is as good as the original, but I'm saying this is 😎
His voice hits me esp live
✅❤️😊 classical training….its glorious to hear live. No denying it.❤😊

Great reaction 🧡 goosebumps all over 🔥🔥🔥
Timeless song. Beautiful
Chills. Every damn time.
Love this song!
Hi Tyler. I sent you a little something on your community post page thing (On your channel). Appreciate it if you'd check it out. ;)

If you haven't seen their video for The Light, you need to, like right now, don't wait.
Beautiful in every way!!! xo
He is classically trained and was sick with a sore throat the night of the performance
I loved it too Nick 🎉
This is so much better then the music video
🔥🔥🔥

David was not sick with the flu for this performance but he did have a badly injured vocal cord.
My favorite covers of this song! Pentatonix has the 2nd best with a different take on it that is wondrous, too.
❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
He was sick with a bad flu during this performance therefore sitting
Nice reaction. Keep in mind that he wasxsick that day.
This is a pretty good for a cover, i love both, i grew up with the original ❤ Believe me you'd love the original too' ❤️
You sound good.

Sounds less auto-tuned ?!?
That's not a live performance. It's heavily edited and auto-tuned/ pitch corrected.
Which really pissed Drummond off, I heard. He was not happy that the show did it.
I've read that Dave really was pissed off with the auto-tune.
This version is not edited or auto-tuned. Love to hear the gravely voice! Check it out!

To much vibrato does not sound that good. David's it awesome with it.
No one else has to completely obscure and not show the video.
Nope I'm not comming back to your channel. Where's the flipping video!
This song makes my ears bleed
My main issue is I just hear the simpsons version "no one can stand the sound... of grampa".
