Lunatic Cultist is a master summoner, being able to summon moon lord. Thus he is also a master in the art of reverse summoning. So he just reverse summoned the dungeon guardian.

Something like this. During the transition between single form and the clones, the lunatic cultist likely has a moment between starting to despawn to create the clones and in those few frames DG registers 'job done, go home'. DG would have one of the more aggressive/quicker "despawn if no players/enemies" because it is so deadly and could be game breaking if it started spawn camping on an MP world.

I think it’s because you need to defeat skeletron to summon lunatic cultist but after you defeat skeletron you can’t normally summon dungeon guardian so that causes some kind of weird interaction between them

A. The Cultist disappears before the illusion attack, so this may have caused him to be "too far" from the Guardian, despawning it.
B. Minions stop attacking during the illusion attack. This may have caused Dungeon Guardian to stop targeting Cultist and despawn.

DG has 99% damage reduction in calamity, so pretty much the only thing that is able to rekt him is abyss damage field

@@grantkingston4355 The attacks weren't hitting, it's most obvious with the twins, no little hit crunch (which should play even if you do 0 damage) on any of there beams or fire. On top of that as we can see. Every boss deals 1-2 contact damage to it. Yet there attacks do 0 damage, even attacks with higher damage output than there base contact damage (Fishrons bubbles for instance). Due to this I don't think that the enemies attacks worked properly with the mod and simply didn't even attempt to run damage calculations against the guardian when fired.

First time seeing DG? Even everything you can throw at it is going to most likely only deal 1-2 damage (2 being crits), even with the most powerful weapons. You do have the advantage of having weapons that can attack really fast though.
Additionally, it was possible to use turtle armor to deal more than 1 damage to DG, but that was fixed a long time ago. Basically, DG working as intended in this video.

@@Dirge_of_Swans I'm aware of DGs stats, I was just pointing out how none of the attacks did any damage as they didn't register as hitting, making this a pure health + contact damage war which of course dg would win. See my previous comment for a more in depth explanation. I don't have any issue with dg winning, Just pointing out that there was no way he could even theoretically lose with how the mod was set up. The only losses he got were a glitch and a forfeit.

We need to see how much damage EoL will deal to DG, to calculate damage, we use the formula _Atk - Def / 2_ (correct me if i’m wrong), we know that empress of light deals 15k damage on normal mode and that DG has 9999 Defence, so _15.000 - 9999 / 2_, the result is 10.000, DG in classic mode has 9999 health, so he dies.

The reason some bosses went off bounds is because of boss positioning mid fight. Skeletron Prime will always try to be a bit higher than the player ans the dungeon guardian was going onto him all the time. Opposite for ML, he tries to position his heart a bit below you.
Also this video greatly shows how terraria can either be beat with skills, or by stackimg defense and tanking like an idiot

@@rubygreen1249 i do use that armor, but still, I get to the point when I destroy one or two of his eyes and he kills me. Tanking doesn't work because of the laser and I can't dodge it due to not having a mount/ rod of discord. The regeneration is just not enough when one of his attacks deals 100 damage. If I could dodge the laser, I could defenitely do it, but the rod of discord is basically impossible to get and the mods are expert mode only, but my world is in classic

I think the despawn happened with how the cultist is programmed, basically anything cant target him naturally other than the player directly shooting or swinging at him when the illusion ritual is in process, and since dg despawns when there's nothing to target, he despawns upon cultist using the duplicate attack.

The dungeon guardian is really powerful because it was never intended to be killed. It has such a high amount of defense that all hits to it do only 1 damage. The only thing that could beat it is a boss that stays far away and shoots fast projectiles.
