You popped up on my recommendations a couple weeks back and watched one and now I've watched quite a few of them. Love the humour. I'd be annoyed with no coffee too.
I have heard two different things. One that they were for purifying water, which makes sense. The other was for mixing the drinks. Either way, those bags were too flimsy and small in my opinion to do either of those things. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Thank you. I did just have another viewer tell me that the bags were a hold over from the older style ration. They used the bags in conjunction with the water purification tablets to treat water. This person was in the SA military. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Maybe those cylindrical bags were for water for the FRH?? Anyways, that ration looked good for what it was. Basic foods for a day worth of calories. Thanks for sharing
There were four bags and 3 FRH's. But you could be correct. The bags had no markings and would have been way too much water for the FRH if filled. Thanks for watching and commenting Matt!
I wonder if they get a separate coffee or tea ration you know a weekly ration instead of depending on ration packs. An individual item that is part of your kit. I saw a vid where a marine carried a small jet boil for making coffee. I infered that he carried coffee for making quick coffee. Maybe South Africa does this as a matter of general issue..
I am not 100% sure. For the SA soldiers sake, I hope you are correct. It seems like it would be more costly to issue a separate kit like that, rather than including some coffee and tea in this bag. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I think this ration pack was a bit sad. No coffee or tea! Coffee was always my drink of choice but I haven't been able to drink it for months as it now makes me puke. I really miss it, especially in the mornings. Thanks for the video RN.

No coffee... Don't give a chit about tea but no coffee?? There would be a mutiny in my platoon!! Then I thought, maybe they do not have coffee in South Africa??? Nope, looked it up and they love their coffee (I made that up, who the FBomb in any country does not drink coffee)... Comes down to cheap azz budget restraints.... No coffee for you soldier!!!! I guess they think that the troops will take coffee as spoils of war...
LOL. I agree 100%! The very least a soldier in any military should be given is some decent food and drink. Coffee especially. Their job is already a potentially miserable affair, with the added bonus of possibly dying! I think food can be a real morale boost, or a kick in the rear end to morale. I did hear from a retired SA military guy and he said they always had coffee in the rations. Like you said, budget nonsense! Thank you for watching and commenting!
As a South African. Coffee is a big deal here, this ration is a new type but even the oldee rations the coffee was bad. The old ration had water purification tablets and that bags was used for that. I think a new tender went out for rations and corruption caused a bad deal for the rations. Sad but true. And that is not real chutney. The real chutney is a awesome sauce for anything. As a child in the 80's when my dad came home with a "ratpack" it was a awesome day!
I am truly sorry for the current South African soldiers! No coffee, no tea! It is a shame! I appreciate your comment especially since you have first hand knowledge on the subject! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I think that the guy who emailed you to tell you that you didn't deserve the ration was looking out for you. He was warning you that there was no coffee, tea, or crackers for the spreads. He was right; you didn't deserve it. You deserve coffee. Good review.
LOL. Thank you Arcane. But no, this person was telling me I should quit and send all of my rations to Steve 1989. It was a laugh out loud read for me. The thing is, this person was serious. For some reason, I bring out the best in people. Especially the Steve1989 fan boys. But the thing is, I like Steve too.

Maybe too hot in Africa for coffee and tea? Need to encourage water intake? Peanut butter and jam eaten directly for energy rather than little soldier pb&j sandwiches? Nobody but Americans make pb&j's.
They even have coffee and tea in the UAE ration. But you never know what their though process is. Maybe you are right about the PB&J thing. My question is , what is wrong with you guys that you are NOT making PB&J sandwiches? LOL Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@RationNerd Arabs love coffee and tea so that doesn’t surprise me. If it’s a base ration coffee might be brought to the field as bread might also be brought. Been to Africa but not SA so no idea.
