Do I have to wait until I empty the black water tank: or can I use RV Digest It + after the tank is half full and wait to empty tank until it is completely full?
It sort of depends on if you had another holding tank treatment in the black tank. If there is no treatment in the tank then, yes, you can add a treatment to the tank when it’s half full and allow it to work while the tank is continuing to fill. If you do have another brand of tank treatment in the tank then it is best to wait until the tank is full and then use RV Digest-It Plus when you’ve dumped the tank and rinsed it out throughly. I hope this answers your questions! Happy camping!
Hi I had two questions…how long will it take to digest waste in a 5 gallon tank ? And the other is how much do I pour into a 5 gallon tank bc we use a portable toilet that holds water on top and waste in the bottom tank
Excellent questions! We recommend that you add one ounce of RV Digest-It + to one gallon of water that you prefill into the waste area of the portable toilet. This will allow the RV Digest-It + to have a plenty of water to survive in while you are using the toilet. It will also help to keep the waste and paper under water which will help with odors as well. With all of that said, this product was not intended for this small of a tank. It will have an effect and it will certainly break down waste and paper but since the tank will fill quicker than an RV built in black tank, the waste tank will need to be emptied more quickly. The product starts breaking down waste as soon as it enters the water with the product but the results of the breakdown may be less noticeable if the tank needs to be dumped after a day or two. We typically recommend dumping the black tank in an RV ever 3-5 days for reference. I hope this helps answer your questions! Happy camping!
@@uniquecampingmarine thank you so much that really helped a lot and with only 2 people using it , it usually don’t need to be dumped for a least a week so hopefully I see results 🤞🏻 🤞🏻
@@imaginesunflower9848 Happy to help! Over the course of a week there should be no problem with breakdown and you should see some good results. I do however, recommend that you use plenty of water each time you flush to keep the waste covered with water. Best of luck!
Hi Chris. Might be a strange question but is this product safe/advised for small portable camping toilets, like the Thetford 365 range as well - of course adapting the amount of product pro rata to the size of its much smaller waste tank as compared to those of RVs? Thanks in advance.
Hello! You can certainly use RV Digest-It Plus in a portable toilet without any fear of damaging it! Full transparency: this product is really designed for full size holding tanks, so the waste breakdown and odor control will not be as optimal in a portable toilet as it would be with a full sized tank. However, we have customers who use RV Digest-It Plus in portable toilets and they find it helps improve waste digestion and odor control. Where I believe you will find the greatest benefit is by using RV Digest-It Plus to deep clean your toilet in-between camping trips, so you can feel confident that you've got a clean slate to start with at the beginning of each camping trip. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for your question!
Will rv toilet bowl cleaner disrupt the bacteria? I need to clean my toilet sometimes but don’t want to use a product that will mess with the digest-it
Hello! Many RV toilet bowl cleaners on the market can disrupt the bacteria and enzymes in the black water holding tank. Because of this we recommend using Unique Scrub-It. It will do an excellent job at cleaning the toilet and contains more of the bacteria that is in RV Digest-It+ which will further boost its performance in the black water holding tank. Thank you so much asking your question!
Great question! Yes, it is safe to use in plastic tanks. We have done long term testing in plastic holding tanks and there was no damage done what so ever. This not only includes the plastic tank but also the seals and gaskets that hold sensors in place as well as the plumbing fittings and connections. Thank you for asking!
Hello! Great question, while it will be helpful in the gray water holding tank, the best way to clean the sensors is with Dawn dish soap. We recommend pouring 20 ounces or more down a sink followed by running water at the sink that you poured the Dawn in. You will know that the tank is full or nearly full when you start to see soap suds backing up from the lowest drain in the RV (typically a shower). You will want to have the tank as full as possible so all of the sensors are in the Dawn and water solution. Allow the Dawn and water to sit overnight and then dump the gray water tank in the morning. This process may need to be repeated but this is the most effective way to clean gray water holding tank sensors. Thanks for your question!
We do not recommend using RV Digest-It Plus to winterize your RV. We instead recommend using a propylene glycol based RV specific antifreeze for winterizing your RV. Thank you for your comment!
