Afr directions say wideband o2 should be 18 inches from the cylinder head, before a catylitic converter, and as far away from the tailpipe as possible. I called aem, they say mount the wideband 18-36 inches from cylinder head
Ok I can get the "WB EQ Ratio 1 (SAE)" to work. But how come when I search WB I have specifically a list come up for the AEM X series wideband. But those channels will add but they will not work. The only one that works is "WB EQ Ratio 1 (SAE)". Is this really the right WB channel to use?
If you have the pro it should have a dongle with two analog inputs. If you have the standard you would need to purchase the cable and pro feature upgrade for $250. I have heard of hooking up an analog wideband through the ac pressure sensor but lots of confusion and mixed results.
I see the (WD AEM) that colored in yellow, does not work in the scanner ? no data at all ? why? I want to record all the AFR in the scanner , to modify it correctly and safely.
So I have a question. I installed this sensor on my exhaust under the car.. considering the heating function…. Will it damage the sensor if it’s hooked up, while loading a new tune via hptuners? Since the sensor self heats when power is supplied by the ignition? Or is it advised to unplug the sensor plug while having to load a tune while engine is off ??
Hi Paul, This specific wideband is able to display in AFR or Lambda with the click of a button. I will link the user manual here so you can check it out. Thanks for watching! www.aemelectronics.com/files/instructions/30-0334-X-Series-OBDII-Wideband-UEGO-Controller-Gauge.pdf
Hello Gabriel, If you are looking for the Innovate exhaust clamp, we offer on our website! thetuningschool.com/collections/tuning-tools/products/innovate-motorsports-exhaust-clamp Thanks for watching!
I bought an AEM wideband that is not OBD integrated is there anywhere to buy just the obd port wire so I can just plug it into my wideband it's a 30-0300
You will need to make sure your MPVI2 is upgrade to the Pro version to use with a Pro Link. Only a Pro enable interface can understand the analog signal on non CANBUS vehicles. Upgrade the MPVI2 to a MPVI2 Pro is an easy upgrade option and comes with the Pro Link. Thanks for watching!
Can this Wideband be used as Guage 1 of 2 with AEMs Failsafe Wideband Gauge(30-4900) on top of the X series Gauge to monitor the other Bank with the added benefit of Failsafe Gauge if a for example a serious lean out happens to safe the engine in real time!?
the problem of this kit, I think putting AFR sensor at the end of tailpipe, might have inaccurate reading of the exhaust specially with good high efficiency catalizer
I can't seem to get mine to work! shows up in the channels list but disappear when I try to connect to vehicle ! it seems to have a yellow key & a red slash going through it in the icon to the left.. anyone else has this problem & is there a solution for this??
I'm stoked that the tailpipe sniffer would be recommended. That gonna give the same afr as the collector area? Or do you supply a guide for how far off it will be based on how many inches or feet distance you're covering?
Honest Question, would the catalytic converter mess with the A/F ratio? Also is there a loss in accuracy when you have a wideband that far down the exhaust stream?
@TheTuningSchool I think this is a good question that hasn't yet been answered. What is the loss percentage when sniffing after the catalytic converter?
I'm stumped. Can't seem to get that canbus cable and hpt says I cannot interface my AEM with mpvi2. Say I must upgrade to the PRO. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Check it out! Exhaust clamp is included in our kit. thetuningschool.com/collections/widebands/products/full-wideband-kit-wego-iv-single-channel-wideband-day114001-18-extension-cable-exhaust-clamp-cigarette-power-adapter
So I have 2005 Silverado which would be a non CAN bus vehicle so without the expander hub (that's not even out yet) I cant not do anything safely engine wise without that dual band right ?
You can still use any wideband to monitor. If you want to OVERLAY inside the software then you with your setup you will have to wait for the expander hub and pro options-yes.
Can you advise best polling interval please? Mine is set on most frequent and it changes so much so fast it’s hard to get a good feel for what the average is.
The polling intervals are not something we change. If you are having trouble seeing the data clearly, I would suggest using the graphs or the charts to give you a better visual reference.
For those with the gold key with red slash... when you text search WB do NOT pick the wb AEM folder with the 30-03XX that WILL give you a false sense that it's the correct one, but WRONG!!!selecting that one will give you the gold lock key! I searched & found that instead of clicking that AEM folder which makes you think its correct, but is not! as you text search WB, look under engine then oxygen sensors, then WB EQ RATIO 1 ( mixture ratio) select that one & you will see the wideband channel pop up & work! I searched & asked for a few days & got NO help & figured it out! your welcome!
You can use ANY wideband you want. If you want it ot overlay inside the software you will have to wait until the PRO feature becomes available from HP Tuners.
When I replaced the O2 sensor from different company of the controller, which calibration shall I follow? The controller or O2? For example using O2 from AEM and the controller is AIM LSU One controller.
Will this work plug and play with my MPVI1 for my 2017 Camaro? I don't want to upgrade to the MPVI2, but I want to buy this wideband from you guys right now without having any trouble.
I have a question for anyone with go tuner experience that is willing to take the time to read this I'm new to ls motors...i own hptuners and I've been tinkering around with the tune on my 2003 silverado RCSB 4.8/nv3500 for about a year now...my truck is stock except for some long tube headers into true duals and a cold air intake, i finally lucked my way into a good tune that feels good by copying and segmenting over tables from other tunes onto mine...i don't have a wide band system yet but plan to few month or so....my question is this: I'm getting ready to install a lq4 that I slapped together with 243 heads, tbss intake and a ported throttle body....i also installed a summit pro ls stage 3 truck cam ( part# sum-8713)...its .545/.545 lift with 222/231 duration at .050 and 112°lobe seperation +5° advance.....my question is can i segment the timing table from a tune that is already tuned for a cam with the same 112 lobe separation and expect it to be close enough timing to safely use as a base timing....because my lq4 has 243 heads with their smaller combustion chambers...im scared that if I try to rev it up high on the same timing as the stock 4.8 tune that I might possibly cause a piston to hit the valves....any advice or expertise would be greatly appreciated
AEM is complete junk. I bought one of their setups only to have the wideband sensor go out. They didn't honor the warranty cause I bought an open box item. I ordered a standard 4.9 Bosch sensor which it takes, but little did I know these guys modify the sensor with a trim resistor so you have to buy a $30 sensor for $125 from them. This wasn't immediately clear in the instructions. I tried to log PE and could have blown my engine. I was relying on the gauge but didn't know that little known thing about their factory sensor calibration. I'll never buy another thing from them again!
why is it for 2008 - up if the obd2 is a passthru to the mpvi2+? wouldnt the vcm scanner see it on a 99 for example?
Nice driving of that Camaro on the intro Bob!
What’s the delay difference in readings compared to a wide band installed closer to the motor in comparison to the tail pipe clamp.
love this set up but i dont trust the tail pipe sniffer even with a locknut i had it come off at WOT. least i was done tuning
is matter install O2 sensor near cat?
Do I need the MPVI2 Pro feature set to add that additional channel?
do you need to have prolink for this wideband to read in the MPVI2 in you have a canbus vehicle ?
Great info this is exactly what my 13 zl1 needs. By the way that Porn background music is annoying! Just saying
Afr directions say wideband o2 should be 18 inches from the cylinder head, before a catylitic converter, and as far away from the tailpipe as possible. I called aem, they say mount the wideband 18-36 inches from cylinder head
Thanks, my gut feeling was that I should weld in an O2 sensor bung specifically for this, I can always put in a plug if I move the sensor

Right
Check out Goat Rope Garage for some videos on that.

@@mcombsemail The new version at that time doesn't have analog inputs like the old version.
I would think that atmospheric dilution near the tail pipe would be a YUUUGGGEE problem no?
Can I use a tatrix cable with that?

Is the sensor wire long enough to reach the exhaust tip from the OBD port ?
Would having a dual exhaust affec reading?
How did you configure the gauge so it displays in lambda instead of afr?
Hi Paul,
This specific wideband is able to display in AFR or Lambda with the click of a button. I will link the user manual here so you can check it out. Thanks for watching!

So this would not work on a 2001 C5 corvette?
Where can I buy the metal adapter where the oxygen sensor is inserted to put it in the back of the exhaust?
Hello Gabriel,
If you are looking for the Innovate exhaust clamp, we offer on our website!

What about gen 3 vehicles
What about the MPVI3?
AEM says not to use auxiliary power sources such as cigarette lighter... do you guys know why?
We suggest that you ask AEM why they say that. We use cigarette lighter power sources for all of our AEM widebands.
@@TheTuningSchool was just curious if you guys knew why.. i run mine on cigarette lighter power source too
Joshua gret Possibly pull too much current for some vehicles cigarette lighter circuits?
Hello this can work with mpvi2+?

I thought can bus was on all Obd2 vehicles? Or is it only in the DLC on 2007 and newer?
Will tha obd2 cable work with the 30-0300 x series wideband? If so can it be purchased separately?
With this question, it would be best to contact AEM directly to see if that is a possibility.
I need to know this also
Can this Wideband be used as Guage 1 of 2 with AEMs Failsafe Wideband Gauge(30-4900) on top of the X series Gauge to monitor the other Bank with the added benefit of Failsafe Gauge if a for example a serious lean out happens to safe the engine in real time!?
Unfortunately, we have no direct experience with AEM’s Failsafe Wideband Gauge. This would be something we can consider testing in the future.
Do I have to use that one or what are other compatible wide bands
Do you need the pro feature to use this with vcm scannner.?

It would be around 0.3-.05 leaner at the tailpipe than at the engine/Collector
Honest Question, would the catalytic converter mess with the A/F ratio? Also is there a loss in accuracy when you have a wideband that far down the exhaust stream?
It's best to install a bung and install it right in front of the primary cats for the best readings.
@TheTuningSchool
I think this is a good question that hasn't yet been answered.
What is the loss percentage when sniffing after the catalytic converter?
Only accurate on vehicles w/o cats... it's on their site

Where can buy obd2 port?
Anybody else notice the gauge on the toolbox reading Lambda when he fires it up at about 5:40?
What MPVI do you guys prefer? I thought about upgrading but this throws a wrench in the mix
The MPVI2 is the only unit you can purchase. Read this thread for upgrade path forum.hptuners.com/showthread.php?71167-MPVI2-Upgrade-FAQ

This won't work on older Gen III cars like 89-02 Fbody's due to no canbus on those PCM's right?
No, it won't even work on the old style MPVI and the 0411 computers. I already tried.
willizm
Only 08 and up this stinks
I thought the AF showed up on the editor already using the cars 02s
if the car doesnt have a wideband you wont be able to see it in power enrich when it goes to open loop

Terrible way to do this.
You want the wbo2 in the exhaust, ~18 inches away from the head or collector, not stuck in the muffler.
