Pulled my transmission apart and just like you said both gears were in backwards. greased them installed them like you said and NO more click. thanks much
Thank you for posting this! For anyone who doesn't know, anytime a transmission or portal gear sits on a pin inserted through a shaft, the pin seat in gear is only rounded on one side of the gear. If u look closely on ALL transmission or portal gears the gear "SHOULD" only go on one way but it can be installed either way because it appears as if it doesn't matter which side the pin sit's on, that's why we're seeing/hearing random videos of clicking SCX10III Jeeps & SCX10II UMG10's with various degrees of clicking depending how many transmission or portal gears are sitting on pins incorrectly! The transmission or portal gear shaft pin seats are only rounded on one side of every gear that sits on a pin inserted through a shaft, if it's the wrong side it's like adding 2 or 3 shims & will create binding &/or make gears hit covers causing the clicking. Some have just been lucky cuz it's a 50/50 chance of getting each gear seated on their pins correctly! Axial should make this clear in the instructions, luckily I saw a few other videos before I built my SCX10III Jeep. Now I need to go tear apart my UMG10 transmission cuz I didn't know this when I built that & even following the "revision" & using proper revised gear case in the UMG10 manual, it still was clicking & felt bound up.

I have the axial SCX III gladiator on my second run I'm hearing a faint clicking noise but sounds like it's coming back right rear very faint clicking and when let off throttle it sounds almost like a vibration rattle ,can you help maybe or point me in right direction it could be nothi g but I'm paranoid.thanks so much

Mine didn't click until after about 5 hours of use, so I pulled the transmission out and flipped those gears to properly seat them, but the transmission still clicks! I have now pulled the transmission out about 5 times and rebuilt it and cant get the click to go away. I have verified its coming from the transmission and not the portals. No parts or plastic appear to be worn, so I am dumbfounded on what else could cause this clicking. Its very annoying. Any other ideas?
Hi friend. Have you tried the work in my video? I haven't gotten rid of the clicking sound, but I have reduced it a lot. It is hoped that this will be solved by the gear direction and grease injection. Thank you!
a year later and i got the kit it was still clicking it now says in the book about what side to use i just had a a loose bolt was makeing it click now its not
RC Review does a comparison on the TRX4 Defender and the scx 10 lll, then another on the TRX4 Sport and the SCX10 lll. Recommend watching both. The defender and the SCX10 are pretty much equal, but the sport outperforms it in many ways. Really there isn't very much of a difference, but you might see something that is a deciding factor in those comparison videos.
This doesn’t fix the click. I made sure every single gear was correct. It remains within the trans not the portals. I even flipped the portal gears around wrong and they don’t click either way so I don’t get it

Personally, I would think that would be obvious to people. It's like putting a square peg in a round hole, but in this case the other way around. I guess if you just want to get it together, you aren't looking for things like that.

Of course it is the same performance. The smaller the noise, the better the rotation feel of the transmission.

I followed the pictures and mines quiet! 3s PullerPro and that tube of grease!
My problem is that I have the ticking but my gears are in the right direction as u said. What else can it be?
Check the direction of the two gears once more and grease the grooves and pins of the gears.
