Thank you for posting this! For anyone who doesn't know, anytime a transmission or portal gear sits on a pin inserted through a shaft, the pin seat in gear is only rounded on one side of the gear. If u look closely on ALL transmission or portal gears the gear "SHOULD" only go on one way but it can be installed either way because it appears as if it doesn't matter which side the pin sit's on, that's why we're seeing/hearing random videos of clicking SCX10III Jeeps & SCX10II UMG10's with various degrees of clicking depending how many transmission or portal gears are sitting on pins incorrectly! The transmission or portal gear shaft pin seats are only rounded on one side of every gear that sits on a pin inserted through a shaft, if it's the wrong side it's like adding 2 or 3 shims & will create binding &/or make gears hit covers causing the clicking. Some have just been lucky cuz it's a 50/50 chance of getting each gear seated on their pins correctly! Axial should make this clear in the instructions, luckily I saw a few other videos before I built my SCX10III Jeep. Now I need to go tear apart my UMG10 transmission cuz I didn't know this when I built that & even following the "revision" & using proper revised gear case in the UMG10 manual, it still was clicking & felt bound up.
That’s incorrect. MY 27t gears in the transmission have rounded pin seats on BOTH side the gears. The difference being, one side of the gear has parallel walls leading to the rounded pin seat, while the other side of the gear features tapered ‘v’ shaped walls leading to the rounded pin seats. Either way, both sides of the gear has pockets with rounded pin seats. Keep In mind, my kit was purchased in 2023. Maybe things have changed with the gears in the last few years.
Quick somebody send to exocage's channel so we don't have to hear that sound. 🤣 But seriously thanks for doing this video hopefully everyone will watch that has this problem
Just curious i bought a RTR SCX10.3 and its making that clicking noise as well do you think the factory could have put them in backwards as well. Any suggestions would be great

Good info. Thanks.
That's some good information 👍
There can also be a little noise from the portals that uses the same gear.
Thanks for the Tip.
Thank you! I'm going to try this when i install the servos for my 2 speed and dig :)
Nice 👍🏽 don’t forget to check the 4 portal gears as well ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
Good info 👍

Awesome man, this made me kinda not want a 10.3. How do you like the 10.3? I’m debating on another trx4, or the enduro or 10.3
My scx10.3 has this issue as well. Poor quality control.
Well now I’ll buy one. I really want this kit but the first time I heard the clicking I said nope I’m not buying that trash.
Not sure I understand how this fixes your problem.
The pin is fully recessed into the gear and doesn't move?
Just bought a brand New one and it was build by a moron i think because everything is wrong
