Welcome to pt5 of my daily project, the 'Wagon R' it's far from how I want it performance wise, so started to look at so of the issues, like poor fuel consumption and white smoke, well I found the issue.........

Yep totally and it's more economic and performances better, but still a long way off where it needs to be, it's a work in progress....

Last time a seen that it was pretty bad. Fella diy swapped his injectors in his mk4 and did not set injector lash not only caused what you had seen happen it also broke the supporting shaft for injector rockers on cylinder 3 and 4.

Hey mate if my 1.9 injector 3 is showing as intermitant what can i do i mean could the electrics be wet that are not making a good connection?

On the PD it is more than likely the injector loom. To 100% remove the cam cover and try to re-crimp the pins on number 3 to see if there is any difference.

Why would the injector spring fall off like that?

I have no idea mate, I can only guess, high mileage wear or they have been badly adjusted at sometime in the past.

you talk in white smoke and a failure in pd gaskets. If was a failure in gaskets the diesel will mix with engine oil . i dont understand the relation with this and white smoke. can you explain. Thanks in advanced

Even with a new injector you can pull the spring and plunger out don’t think that was your problem
