Hi GEOFF.. This recipe i remember my mum doing.. I loved them as a child so I'm actually going to do this today.. It's, absolutely pouring rain so a cosy day homemade soup to make and these will be a nice midweek treat. Thanks Geoff,,, you always save me having to think about it,. 🎉Take care my lovely 🎊🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
Hello Geoff😊. I've just found your channel. Oh what a lovely gentleman you are 😊. So lovely to see a man cooking, just like my dad used to ❤. So many favourite childhood recipes from England my mum used to bake. Thank you Sir😊💐😊.
My Mom used to make these. Except for the vanilla, they are exactly alike. I found dates at Aldi a few days ago and now I need to go get them. Thanks for the video and the memories, Geoff.
Hi! Geoff. Thank you for sharing. I was naughty, I added 2 tsp of ooze and 2 tsp orange zest to the date mixture and omitted the vanilla. It takes it to a new level 😋
Thank you Geoff, I have been missing some of your posts as I forgot to put my notification on( all sorted now) I love dates especially the medjool ones.
Hi Geoff, I haven’t made Date Squares, as we call them, in years. In Saskatchewan they are known as Matrimonial Cake. Maybe it was the only thing the new bride could make? I have all the ingredients and I think I’ll give your recipe a go! They look very good! 😋😊
Hi Carol, I haven't really thought about alternatives to oats. I am not sure of the binding properties in any alternative. I guess rye flour might work, but I wouldn't guarantee that.
Dear Uncle Geoff , it's been awhile since Sir Barney the third, Bobby Buttons,Uncle Perceval and myself have been back on the channel . We hope you are keeping well and another lovely recipe . Percy is having his night pipe and is pondering when should we be preparing the Christmas cake . Are you planning to create one this pre Christmas yourself ?
Hi Sir Barney et al. I have several different Christmas cake videos onlne. The one I shall make is Last Minute Mincemeat Christmas Cake since the family like it the most.
Thank you Geoff! This was my favorite dessert as a child! I will make this today! DATE BAR! Copper 40 % DV and Manganese 13 % DV for 100 grams!

Hi Judith. That;s an interesting name for them. I hope you enjoy this version if you try it.
Geoff, could I use rye and other grains instead of rolled oats? I have several rolled grains that need using up.😊

Hiya Geoff,
Have you managed to find a Rum Baba recipe yet??
Hi Coolerkin. I have seen several that look good. It is just a question of getting organised.
Is baking soda the same as bicarbonate of soda?
Hi Bessie, Yes it is the same thing, known with different names between UK and North America.
