    My Mom used to make these. Except for the vanilla, they are exactly alike. I found dates at Aldi a few days ago and now I need to go get them. Thanks for the video and the memories, Geoff.

    Hi! Geoff. Thank you for sharing. I was naughty, I added 2 tsp of ooze and 2 tsp orange zest to the date mixture and omitted the vanilla.

    Hi Geoff,
    I haven’t made Date Squares, as we call them, in years. In Saskatchewan they are known as Matrimonial Cake. Maybe it was the only thing the new bride could make? I have all the ingredients and I think I’ll give your recipe a go! They look very good!

    Geoff, could I use rye and other grains instead of rolled oats? I have several rolled grains that need using up.😊

    • @geoffsbakingblog
      @geoffsbakingblog  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi Carol, I haven't really thought about alternatives to oats. I am not sure of the binding properties in any alternative. I guess rye flour might work, but I wouldn't guarantee that.
