  • This talk is about how you can use wireless signals and fuse them with vision and other sensing modalities through AI algorithms to give humans and robots X-ray vision to see objects hidden inside boxes or behind other object.
Tara Boroushaki is a Ph.D student at MIT. Her research focuses on fusing radio frequency (RF) sensing with vision through artificial intelligence. She designs algorithms and builds systems that leverage such fusion to enable capabilities that were not feasible before in applications spanning augmented reality, virtual reality, robotics, smart homes, and smart manufacturing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

According to my understanding after reading her research online:
It shoots out Radio frequency, just like the signal that wifi uses, which is why it can penetrate through objects (in this case, cardboards or clothes)
Some sensors on the goggle received the reflected RF rays.
The algorithm she created stitches those rays to make an image of that object. Therefore confirming the object.
Hope this clears up the confusions

The object has reflective RFID tag. Tags reflects Wifi signals inside the room.

Then how is it gonna help find humans in low visibility? They won't be tagged with RFID tags, right?

Imagine having this capability in our smartphones as an app. A simple sensor and some storage capability to find things we think we lost in our given environments. Possibly tethered to the ultra wide lens etc etc. I dont know exact details of how that would work but seems cool! I remember playing with the AR capabilities of my nintendo 3ds thinking it was the best thing to ever exist at the time and now we're scanning through things to find other things that we may need or have lost. Super cool. My only hope for this is that it doesnt go in the hands of big money greedy corporations!!! Would be the end of any real privacy etc. If that were to happen!!

@DUDEfreestyle 15 years ago we were hoping to do be able to clone out organs from our own DNA, now that's becoming a reality. We are on the exciting part of the exponential curve of technology and its exciting! Think about what a cell phone was/wasn't capable of 15 years ago, then just 5 years before that, you gotta be excited for possibility!

Is There a Specific Way Love Should Feel?
Mutual, reciprocal and whole among all people in the world.
It is because love is the force that binds us together in our whole and eternal state as a single soul, which we are all parts of.
How can we feel this mutual love among us as a single soul?
We can feel mutual love when we all connect, feel a common connection between us, and try to fulfill each other through such a connection

The health risks have been normalized over the last 100 years. You shouldn't use or live near electricity in general if ambiant electromagnetic radiation is concerning to you.
