    I don't know if Erica Synths are my favorite builders, but there's probably a legitimate reason why I own more of their modules than any other co. I never thought they'd make a dedicated stereo compressor, never entertained the thought. This module shot straight to the top of my Eurorack want list. What a great surprise, thank you everyone at Erica!!

    excellent! compressors are super important for drums. Would love to see your next gen Techno modular system come standard with this module and the new DJ filter and maybe next gen drum sequencer?

    WOW! That sounds really good! 🤯👏♥️
    Edit: I just checked the price and it's a great price too 🙌

    Erica, why are you making me think about buying another module from you? 🦆✌️🚀🔥👌

    Amazing work as always! Top notch stuff from Erica Synths again! Just ordered one. Need to find where to buy those cool red patch cables for Christmas too :)

    Can someone explain to me what Sidechain Out might be used for? Not grasping this concept. From what I understand it's a copy of the main input. What are the applications?

    Is it better to have the effects chain run before or after the compression process?

      I think it depends on what kind of sound you're going for. Ducking long reverb tails can sound great.

    so how is the attack and release time set? is it a set value?

    • @rdean150
      @rdean150 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is what I'm wondering also. I'm guessing it's either program material dependent, i.e. auto-set based on input signal, or maybe the Amount knob is multiple settings combined or something. But usually when you see combined knobs like that, they are combining ratio, threshold, and possibly gain. That doesn't appear to be the case here tho.

      Its about 8ms attack and 200ms release, but that depends on the input signal as the module is using THAT RMS detection. That means the quieter the sounds the quicker is the release and vice versa. Hope this helps!

    It doesn't have an Attack and Release. So what are the settings for the attack and release. Are these short since it seems to be merely for drums?

    • @EricaSynths
      @EricaSynths  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Its about 8ms attack and 200ms release, but that also depends on the input signal. And it it is mostly tuned for drums and full mixes. Hope this helps!

    I would love to fit this in my techno system. Cab you give me some advice on wich module to remove and replacement by the comp module

      Tough choice. Here they pulled out the Mixer Lite, which I coulnd't do without. I'm thinking I'd pull the dual drive out, but only because there's so much gain elsewhere in the system anyway, and I tend to run the system through an Analog Heat. I don't use the snare much, so maybe that's a candidate. I'm just gonna get one and figure it out later ; )

      @@danielboen1397 tough indeed. I do want this, but dont want to sacrifice other modules :)

      @@danielboen1397 I took the Link from my techno system and added their new stereo dj vcf and just like both of you guys, I'm debating what's next. I'm thinking the Toms , the snare or cymbals. I want to add this stereo compressor and their new delay /reverb unit since I find the dual fx lackluster. I also run it thru an analog heat. Deadly combo!

      What did you guys do in the end? I’ve just ordered the Drum Stereo Mixer and have everything else. I’m wondering what to pull also. I just took the Toms out because I don’t really listen to anything with Toms really, nor Snare for that matter, it’s looking shady… but I do love it through the Mixer and its compression. I am actually thinking of elbowing this one out due to the compression on the Mixer and Mixer Lite

    Hmm...I'm listening on decent headphone, and I'm picking up little to no difference when the bypass switch is thrown. Is it just me? I'm no expert at compression, but also not a beginner. Perhaps demo more extreme settings?

    • @rdean150
      @rdean150 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are a few spots where the sidechain effect is quite noticeable, like when he briefly switches to the static noise in the FM radio module. You can hear the sucking sound of the static being pulled down by the sidechain signal. There are a couple of spots like that, but mostly the effect was subtle and tight. Which many would argue is ideal performance of a compressor. You're typically not supposed to be able to tell it's there, it just sorta keeps everything right in the pocket and under control.

    • @rdean150
      @rdean150 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That said, for demo purposes I agree that it would have been good to have some over-the-top examples so people could tell what it was doing even on less-than-stellar speakers, etc.

      I think it's pretty obvious actually. Try listening @1:59 , @2:30 and @5:20. The part with the drum break is the probably easiest to hear the actual compression pump.
