Your channel has grown so much. I would think you might be able to invest in people to help you film edit and create your amazing content with you focusing on doing what you do for your customers. You could maybe get by to only give small inputs to the editor in order to convey your knowledge and what you want in the final cut.
Thank you for what you do have time to present to us. You have already given so much to us.

Brian, I was thinking about going to a magnetic drain plug on this transmission. Do you think that would be helpful? I know most everything in the transmission is aluminum, but I'm sure there are some parts made from iron. Figured since you've got to split the transmission to change the filter every little bit would help.

You know what’s funny? In Germany, Ford says there’s lifetime oil in there and you don’t have to change the oil.
But in my case, I have the problem that the transmission often shifts very hard.
So I want to change the transmission fluid too.
Do you know if I need the ULV oil or another one? It’s a 2021 Ford Focus 1.5 Ecoblue 120 HP.

@ ford tech Makuloco, on news about aftermarket parts today, channel Tom Coolen which is kick a mechanic in Canada has been cutting up parts open such as ball joints etc. and finding plastic instead of what i believe was bronze in the parts ??? Three main capital corporations now own most of our once American auto parts main one being Apollo capital on 5th ave, NYC. which now owns Moog and Fel pro. My question is he has also opened ford oem parts from newer vehicles and found the same, are ford truck ball joints made by Dana/Spicer ? and have you noticed any problems by new oem parts ?

I'm possibly buying a Ford Focus mk4 1.5tdci with automatic transmission(A8). im pretty sure that its this 8f35. However, it has 150tkm on the clock or abit under 100k miles. Is that already a lost cause, because i doubt the previous owner has changed the oils cause its "not mandatory" even though the car has service history from a respectable dealer (in finland they are actually respectable). Should i be wary or go for it if it works well and change the oils myself now and in future? Any ideas?

Hi Brian. I have a 2019 Edge 2.0L AWD with 51k miles. My dealer (Folsom Ford) told me that the scheduled maintenance for the transmission is at 90K. I thought that way too long to wait, so I really appreciate your video. Why is Ford saying that this ATF will last till 90K? Seems that they are intentionally wanting us to ruin our transmission to go to them to get a new one when they do break. Seems odd to me.

Lesson learned on 2022 edge. This video shows him simply remove the vent plug. However, their is another "plug" I side the rubber stack that will prohibit filling. I removed the stack and added fluid. Be sure to leave the car running while you replace the leveling plug. Mine took about 6qt. Drained and filled while basically at temp -not sure if that impacts how much drains.

great video, thank you! your attention to detail and clear explanations are fantastic!! much gratitude! I do have a question....in my situation with '20 Edge SEL, the new fluid leaks out of my funnel, when filling. I realize that it is probably me, doing something wrong....I could not pour directly in through the funnel like shown here....there is something down in the rubber fill port on top, that is restricting flow. I had to resort to hand pumping all 5 quarts, which was slow and messy. any thoughts appreciated....

Thank you! I have the oil and put this off too long!! 2020 Escape AWD 2.0L 75K, bought at 50K. Already changed PTU and rear diff. Unfortunately, the AWD control module failed. I replaced it, but Ford dealer still wanted $400 to pair it with the diff module.
OK. Job done. I do not have a lift so not sure I was completely level. Removed front left tire for visibility into the leveling port. Heated up the oil in the oven to 150F to save some time. Used Forscan to monitor the temp (185F=85C). Put aluminum foil over the hose and cross member. The oil smelled completely spent. Same color as you found. Might do it again in 20k given the big initial interval.

I personally thank you, your video helped me save my 6R80. You even went above and beyond by answering a couple questions. I can wait for videos ..

What bone head company would design a transmission that you can't easily change the filter? Why would you need so many gears on a car? Its not like its a semi-tractor that's towing heavy loads.

Okay. So wierd thing happened. Did the drain (hot). About 5 qts came out. refilled 5qts. 1 qt came out. I believe I overfilled because the fluid was hot (expanded) and so looked like 5 quarts but was closer to 4quarts. Couldn't reach operating temp only got to 180-190

thanks for this info. i think i'll check the fluid level before draining, at the specified hot temperature, and engine running, to see what the factory had in there.

Good advice on torquing the drain plug. I’ve seen drain plugs drip, but never fall completely out. Better to under torque than over torque

I worked for a co that owned a fleet of F350s. We followed the mfg recommended trans service and kept having trans fail. After several years and a bunch of trans failures we hit upon the practice of filter & flush every 30K & the trams started to last the near 300K we ran these trucks. SO, thats the secret, ignore what the manual says, 30K.

I'm patiently waiting to see the first gen 3.5 manifolds and coolant lines as I'm needing to do that work on my truck.

I have a 2019 edge and am doing this now. I have the front up about 3" on blocks and jacked up the back end to level the car, but when I take out the fill plug before draining it seems like there is alot of excess fluid from the factory fill. Does Ford over-fill these sometimes? I am draining hot after driving about 15 miles. Edge isnt as easy to fill as the escape.

Figured it out, with the engine off there is more fluid in the pan thats why I saw so much come out the level plug. Was much easier for me to fill thru the level plug on the 19 edge.
